Chapter 27 Don't Be Afraid of Me
But the next second, Isabella felt like she was overthinking things.
Why would William be angry for no reason?
There's no way he could know she'd lied to him.
Just as she was thinking this, William's icy voice came through the phone:
"Lied to me."
Isabella: "!"
Wait, how did he know?
"I... what did I lie to you about?"
Isabella tried hard to control the fear in her heart, making her tone sound normal.
"What do you think?"
"Mr. Brown, I've never lied to you. I don't know why you'd say that."
She was being so convincing, William shouldn't be able to tell anything was wrong, right?
William on the other end sighed.
That breath seemed to be right against her ear, making her feel a hint of helplessness in it.
"Isabella, if you can't take good care of yourself, then I'll have no choice but to..."
Isabella's eyes widened slightly.
Do what to her?
She waited but didn't hear what came next. William seemed to have fallen silent.
Just as Isabella was about to speak, William's voice came through again, radiating a hellishly dark aura, "Confine you somewhere I can see you."
That ghostly, sinister voice made Isabella's face turn pale, and all the blood in her body seemed to freeze instantly.
For some reason, in that moment she actually felt William might really do such a thing.
She was terrified, "I'm sorry, Mr. Brown, I was wrong!"
"Wrong about what?"
William's mood seemed to improve a bit. His voice was no longer as cold as before, though still oppressive.
Isabella almost wanted to cry. Nervous and anxious, her words came out shaky, "I... I shouldn't have said I ate. Actually I didn't eat. I lied to you, I lied."
"Why did you lie to me?"
Isabella told the truth, "I was afraid you'd be angry."
She hadn't forgotten what William told her about eating properly. She instinctively felt that if she said she hadn't eaten, he would be angry.
"Afraid of me?"
Isabella: "..."
Could he only hear the first half of what she said?
"Afraid you'd be angry," she emphasized.
That was different from being afraid of him.
"Don't be afraid of me." William's voice softened considerably.
Isabella wanted to cry.
You think I want to be afraid of you?
It's because you're so terrifying.
"Good girl."
William suddenly said this.
Isabella's breath caught.
?
What was he doing?
Why did it feel like awkward flirting from a straight guy...
"Go eat." William said again.
Isabella rubbed the goosebumps on her arms.
"Okay, I'll... I'll go right now..."
Just as she hung up, there was a knock at the door.
Isabella opened it to see a servant standing there.
A stranger?
Isabella: "?"
The servant was holding a tray filled with exquisite dishes and snacks. "Ms. Taylor, I'm here to bring you food."
Isabella looked curiously at this unfamiliar face. "Wait, who are you? Why haven't I seen you before?"
"I'm new here," the servant said. "You can call me Jada."
"Jada?" Isabella muttered quietly.
What an unusual name.
"When did you start?"
"Today," Jada answered.
Isabella then remembered that she had indeed heard some young servants mention that two new servants had been hired.
But she remembered that in her past life, those two new servants didn't include this Jada.
Isabella looked at the tray in her hands and asked tentatively, "Did Ms. Smith send you?"
"No."
"Then did Hayden send you?"
"No."
"Then who?" Isabella looked at her in surprise. "You can't have come on your own initiative, right?"
"Mr. Brown sent me."
Jada said.
Isabella froze.
Wait...
You're a spy?
——
Before going to bed that night, Bianca sent messages to Abigail and Evelyn.
She told them Joseph would be visiting tomorrow.
Abigail immediately said she'd come to the Taylor Villa tomorrow to check out Joseph.
She also asked if there might be a chance to sit in on a few lessons.
The group of rich girls were incredibly envious of Bianca.
Bianca went to bed feeling wonderful.
She set her alarm very early.
The next morning she got up early to get ready, dressing herself up nicely.
Later she could take a photo with Joseph and post it to her social media, so everyone would know she was Joseph's student.
Olivia also got up early. The agreed time with Joseph was nine o'clock, and she was afraid something might not be properly arranged, so she prepared early.
Hayden and Chase also planned to wait until after Joseph left before going to the office.
So except for Isabella who was still sleeping, the whole Taylor family was waiting for Joseph.
"Bianca, I'm so jealous of you. How do you study? Your grades are always so good." Several rich girls gathered around Bianca.
"Joseph must have chosen you because your grades are so good."
"Just look, Bianca's grades have always been in the city's top thirty."
"Bianca, if Joseph helps you with tutoring, will you be able to get first place in the whole city?"
"Bianca definitely has no problem. Joseph has produced five consecutive city-wide top students..."
"..."
Bianca loved this feeling of being admired. Although she tried hard to suppress the excitement in her heart, the corners of her mouth couldn't help but lift slightly, and her cheeks were flushed.
As the time approached, Yves rushed in, "Mrs. Taylor, Ms. Taylor, Joseph is here!"
Joseph arrived twenty minutes early, at eight-forty, at the Taylor Villa's main gate.
"Quick!" Olivia immediately stood up excitedly when she heard, walking quickly toward the entrance.
Bianca also anxiously followed behind Olivia.
The group quickly reached the villa entrance.
Joseph was about fifty years old, wearing glasses, with a stern expression. At first glance, he had that strict quality of a math professor and meticulous demeanor.
He stood at the main gate waiting, looking inside curiously.
To be honest, he was even more nervous than the Taylor family.
What kind of person was William's girl?
Finally seeing people approaching, he quickly straightened up and resumed his serious expression.
"Mr. Miller, you're here." Olivia smiled as she approached.
Joseph's gaze fell on Bianca and the group of girls, wanting to know which one was Isabella.
He scanned them but didn't dare confirm, so he asked: "Which one of you is Ms. Taylor?"
Bianca immediately stepped forward, very well-behaved with a sweet smile, "Mr. Miller, it's me."
Joseph looked at Bianca, his eyes narrowing slightly behind his lenses.
So this was the type William liked!
Soft-spoken, with a sweet smile.
In young people's terms, wasn't she just a sweet girl?
William, how ordinary.
Joseph adjusted his cuffs, his gaze returning to Olivia. "I can tell Ms. Taylor has a good personality."
"Mrs. Taylor, I'll get straight to the point. I'm here today, first, to familiarize myself with the location, since I'll be coming here every day to tutor Ms. Taylor."
"Second, to get to know Ms. Taylor briefly, understand her past academic situation, so I can make arrangements."
Hearing Joseph say this, Olivia realized that tutoring Bianca was settled.
She exchanged a glance with Hayden, both their eyes full of relief and joy.
Wonderful.
"No problem, Mr. Miller. I'll take you inside for a tour later to familiarize you with our environment." Olivia couldn't stop smiling.
Joseph nodded, then turned to Bianca with a serious face: "Then starting today, I'll be your tutor. Isabella, from now on, you need to study hard with me."
When Bianca heard the first half of the sentence, she had already put on a humble and earnest expression, but when she heard Joseph call her by Isabella's name, the smile on her face froze.
Her eyes slowly widened.
"You just said... who?"
Isabella?
