Chapter 26 He Is Angry
"Matthew isn't the only teacher in the world."
Isabella glanced at her. "Besides, what's so good about that creep? You'll find out later."
In her past life, after Matthew had tutored her, he was hired by the Campbell Family to tutor their youngest daughter.
Probably seeing that the Campbell daughter was introverted and timid, Matthew grew bold enough to attempt to rape her when no one else was home.
He just happened to be caught by the family head who came home early.
The Campbell family head was both shocked and furious, and immediately called the police and had him sent to prison. The incident later became widely known.
After Hayden learned about it, he specifically asked her if Matthew had done anything to her during their tutoring sessions.
Isabella shook her head and said no. What she didn't say was that if she hadn't beaten Matthew up, what happened to the Campbell daughter could very well have happened to her.
"You're calling Mr. Moore a creep?" Olivia had no idea where this rebellious attitude was coming from, and was furious. "I think you just don't know how good you have it."
Isabella couldn't be bothered to talk to her. Without even looking at her, she just headed straight upstairs.
Seeing herself being ignored, Olivia's face immediately darkened. She felt that Isabella was indeed crude and rude.
Nothing like Bianca!
Bianca watched Isabella's retreating figure, hiding the cold smile in her eyes, then went over and took Olivia's arm. "Mom, don't be angry. Isabella doesn't like studying, so of course she's unhappy about tutoring."
Gabriel also stared at Isabella's back and couldn't help speaking up. "Not liking studying means she doesn't have to study? Does she think she's Bianca? That she can do well without tutoring?"
Chase's expression also darkened. "Don't bother with her. She can study or not, whatever."
Since childhood, whether in academics or career, Chase had always been methodical and well-planned. He really didn't like this kind of unmotivated person who had no self-awareness.
A sister like Isabella - honestly, he looked down on her a bit.
Watching everyone's attitude toward Isabella, and thinking about how Isabella wasn't as excellent as her and still didn't try to improve, Bianca felt much more at ease.
She smiled and asked Olivia, "Mom, when will Joseph get back to us?"
When they were out, Olivia had called to tell her about inviting Joseph to come tutor her at home.
Abigail and Evelyn were there at the time and heard what Olivia said on the phone.
Her friends were all envious, saying that if they really got Joseph, they'd want to sit in on a few classes too, to see what was so special about this Joseph that even wealthy families had to wait in line for.
"Joseph?" Gabriel couldn't help showing surprise when he heard the name. "Are you talking about Mr. Miller?"
"Yes, him. I contacted Joseph's son by phone." Olivia said.
"Ewan said that anyone who ranks in the top hundred of their grade in the city joint exam is within Joseph's consideration."
"So I sent over a copy of Bianca's transcript, but Joseph hasn't responded yet..."
Just then, Olivia's phone suddenly rang.
She picked it up and saw it was Ewan calling.
Olivia quickly signaled everyone around to be quiet and answered the call.
"Mr. Miller..."
But it wasn't Ewan's voice that came through - it was a more steady middle-aged male voice.
"Mrs. Taylor, hello, this is Joseph."
Hearing this, Olivia quickly responded: "Joseph, hello, hello!"
"I'm calling to ask if it would be convenient for me to visit your home tomorrow. I'd like to discuss tutoring Ms. Taylor."
Olivia was both surprised and delighted. "Convenient, of course it's convenient!"
The two agreed on a time for the visit over the phone.
Even after hanging up, Olivia still looked incredulous.
She looked at Bianca, unable to contain her relief and joy. "Bianca, you passed!"
"Joseph said he'll come visit tomorrow to discuss the tutoring in detail."
Bianca couldn't believe it. "Really?"
"Of course it's real. Joseph said it himself - how could it be false?"
Gabriel's face immediately showed excitement too. "That's great! That's my sister!"
Chase, usually composed, now showed a smile. "Congratulations, sister."
He knew Joseph's reputation in their circles - someone even wealthy families found hard to hire.
He'd heard that Joseph not only looked at background when taking students, but also at grades.
Either way, Bianca being chosen by Joseph was definitely a good thing.
Even Hayden felt proud. "Yves, open two bottles of good wine for dinner tonight. Let's celebrate for Bianca."
"Yes, sir." Yves quickly agreed.
Bianca glanced toward the stairs and said thoughtfully, "When Joseph comes, we can solve Isabella's tutoring problem too."
Hearing this, the smile on Olivia's face faded somewhat. "Bianca, I know you mean well, but you need to understand - Joseph is coming for you. He doesn't teach just anyone."
"Tomorrow, don't mention this kind of thing in front of Joseph, or you might offend him."
Gabriel also chimed in: "Exactly, Bianca. Joseph is coming because of you. Why bring up Isabella? Her grades don't even meet Joseph's requirements for taking students."
"Bianca." Chase looked at her earnestly. "Opportunities are for people like you who are prepared."
"For people who don't try to improve, even the best opportunity is useless."
Who he was talking about was obvious.
The family tacitly stopped mentioning Isabella.
Dinner was harmonious. When Yves went to call Isabella down for dinner, Isabella said she wasn't eating.
Olivia frowned, suppressing her anger. "Then just leave her."
——
Isabella spent an hour organizing some posts recruiting private tutors and posted them online.
Just as she posted it, her phone rang.
It was William!
Him again!
Sure enough, what had to come still came?
Remembering what William had said before about calling her routinely, Isabella took a deep breath and answered.
"Mr. Brown."
"William."
William's voice came through, forceful and cold, brooking no argument.
Isabella shuddered and quickly said: "William."
"Have you eaten?"
Isabella lied without changing expression: "Yes."
Silence fell on the other end.
It was as if a strange and oppressive atmosphere was seeping through the phone.
Isabella nervously gripped her phone.
She couldn't see William's expression on the other end, but somehow she could sense it.
He was angry.
