Chapter 248 Silencing

Chapter 248 Silencing

Two team members worked together to drag Lloyd's body to a nearby forest and buried it.

If possible, they would have preferred to take Lloyd's body back to Novaria for burial - after all, that was home. But transporting such a large body from Veridian back to Novaria was unrealistic.

After dealing with the body, the two team members returned to the abandoned building to find Sean. "Sean, it's done."

Lloyd's body would probably be discovered by the Veridian police before long, but it was already burned beyond recognition - the Veridian police wouldn't be able to find out anything.

One team member looked nervously at Isabella lying on the ground not far away, then said anxiously, "Sean, if the Powell family finds out we almost killed one of their own..."

At these words, Sean's face instantly darkened. "The Powell family must never know about this!"

They had hurt Isabella and nearly killed her. If the Powell family found out what they'd done, they would definitely tear them to pieces!

And just now, they had witnessed firsthand what terrifying abilities the Powell family possessed. The consequences of offending such a family were absolutely unbearable!

"She didn't see our faces and doesn't know our identities, but..."

Sean stopped there. His face looked grim as he clenched his fists and said, "Book the earliest flight. We're going back to Lumaria right now."

As soon as he finished speaking, the sound of an ambulance came from outside.

The three quickly hid in the shadows, watching as the paramedics lifted Isabella onto the ambulance before leaving.

——

Lumaria.

Tate and the others waited all night at the hotel for news from Sean. It wasn't until seven in the morning that the doorbell rang.

Milo looked through the peephole.

"Tate, it's Sean!"

Tate signaled him to open the door.

As soon as Milo opened the door, he asked anxiously, "Sean, how did it go? Is that high school girl dead? If she's dead..."

Before Milo could finish, Sean gripped his dagger and plunged it straight into his vital organs in the abdomen.

"Milo!"

Tate and Rhys were stunned by the scene.

Sean twisted the dagger in a circle inside Milo's body, then pushed him away.

Looking at Milo's body on the ground, Tate's eyes were full of disbelief. He looked sharply at Sean. "Are you crazy? Why did you..."

Halfway through his words, he suddenly felt something was wrong. Sean's whole demeanor was cold and dark, and the way he looked at him carried killing intent.

Tate's hair stood on end, his voice becoming tense. "Sean, what... what do you want to do?"

Sean walked a few steps toward him, his eyes filled with solemn killing intent. "Tate, you and I go back a ways. If I could avoid it, I wouldn't want to kill you either."

"But... if the Powell family finds out about the deal between us, we'll both die."

"Every man for himself - that's just how it is."

The next second, Sean moved at lightning speed to Tate's side. Before Tate could say a word, the dagger in his hand slit his throat with incredible speed.

Blood splattered out, staining the white walls red.

"Tate!"

Rhys watched the scene in horror.

The bloody and brutal scene shocked him speechless, his mind going blank.

Why?

Why was this happening?

Why was Sean being so ruthless to them?

Rhys instinctively backed away, feeling unprecedented fear. "Sean... what... what are you trying to do?"

Sean glanced at Rhys indifferently and walked slowly toward him.

Reaching Rhys, he didn't kill him immediately. Instead, he reached out and removed the mask from Rhys's face.

"Rhys, do you remember how your face ended up looking like this?"

Of course Rhys remembered!

How could he forget?

It was because he had taken on a job - the target was a ten-year-old child.

But he didn't know that the child he was supposed to kill was an illegitimate son of the Thornton family.

And the Thornton family was one of Novaria's mysterious ancient martial arts families, with status equal to the Northern Ice Empire's royal family.

He never imagined he would offend such people. If he had known the child was the Thornton family's illegitimate son, he absolutely would not have taken that job!

That mission naturally failed, because as an illegitimate son of the Thornton family, the child couldn't possibly be without protection. They were no match for the Thornton family's people and were captured alive.

So Tate had his fingers broken, Milo had a kidney removed, and he had half his face torn off. They were permanently exiled and could never set foot in Novaria again...

That was the price of offending those great families. Even just the Thornton family was like this - let alone the Powell family.

This killing job could only be buried underground... only then could it be treated as if it never happened.

Sean's eyes turned fierce as he grabbed Rhys by the throat and lifted him up.

Rhys's pupils dilated, his face gradually turning pale.

He struggled hard, trying to pry Sean's fingers loose, but the more he struggled, the tighter the grip became. After more than ten seconds, Rhys's head tilted to one side.

Sean released his grip, and Rhys's body collapsed to the ground, his bulging eyes making his face look tragic and horrifying.

Isabella opened her eyes to see William keeping watch by her hospital bed.

"You're awake?" William helped Isabella sit up, reminding her, "You have an injury on your back, don't lean back."

Isabella blinked, looking a bit confused. "This is a hospital? Why am I here?"

At her words, William looked at her in surprise. "You don't know why you're here?"

Isabella shook her head.

She remembered fighting with those people in black, and later being outnumbered, getting slashed on the back, and then... she couldn't remember anything after that.

William explained to her: "Last night when I called you, you didn't answer. I couldn't reach you, so I booked the earliest flight over. I went to your hotel and found you weren't there, so I had friends here in Veridian help me look. That's how I found out you were at this hospital."

"The hospital nurse said you were brought in last night. They received an emergency call and brought you out of an abandoned building. You were injured - the most serious wound was the slash on your back, but it wasn't deep. The doctor has already treated it."

"How could this happen?" Isabella frowned in confusion. "Those people should have been trying to kill me. I was injured and passed out from their attack. Logically, they should have finished me off, so why was I sent to the hospital in the end?"

What happened after she lost consciousness?

"William, do you know who called the ambulance to send me to the hospital?"

William shook his head. "I tried to find out, but couldn't."

But hearing Isabella say she was almost killed, William's expression immediately darkened. "Who was trying to kill you?"

"I don't know."

Those four people were wearing masks - she didn't see their faces.

William's eyes narrowed. "Could it be Hayden?"

"No."
