Chapter 118 I Believe Isabella
"What's wrong with that person? How annoying." Being randomly called a lunatic by some woman, Lawrence was pretty angry too.
"Violet, wait here for me. I'll go arrange for you to have another interview."
"Another interview?" Violet asked in surprise. "Is that possible?"
"Of course it is."
"You're Isabella's friend, which makes you my friend. Don't worry, I'll make sure you get fair treatment."
And that head of the selection department, how dare they openly break the rules like that? What do they think Infinity Entertainment Inc. is?
Lawrence ran upstairs quickly in his slippers and pushed open Ember's office door.
Ember looked at Lawrence who had suddenly barged in with confusion. "Shouldn't you be resting and saving your energy at this hour? What are you doing here?"
Lawrence clenched his fists, filled with righteous anger. "Ember, at today's selection interview, the head of the selection department gave his niece special treatment!"
Ember frowned slightly at this. "Is that true?"
"I heard it with my own ears. How could it be false?"
Ember said nothing more but made a phone call. "Pull up the video footage from today's selection..."
"Next, number fifty-seven."
Gemma had just looked up at the girl walking in when his phone on the table started vibrating.
He glanced at the screen. It was Layla calling.
The interviewee had already started her self-introduction, so Gemma just hung up.
Soon after, the phone vibrated again.
The girl and the other two interviewers all looked at Gemma at the same time.
"I need to take this call."
Gemma went out with his phone.
"What is it?"
"Gemma." There was a sob in Layla's voice. "Just now some lunatic had security throw me out, and they won't let me into the Infinity Entertainment Inc. building."
"What lunatic?" Gemma frowned. "How could there be a lunatic inside Infinity Entertainment Inc.?"
"I don't know how he got into Infinity Entertainment Inc. either. He's acting crazy and so arrogant."
Layla described: "Wearing pajamas and slippers, his hair and face are all dirty..."
"Alright, alright, we'll talk about this later. I'm still in the middle of interviews." Gemma said helplessly. "The interviews won't take much longer. Just wait downstairs for a bit, and I'll come find you when they're done."
Meanwhile.
In Ember's office.
"You're saying the girl you like also came today?"
Lawrence nodded.
Ember's gaze shifted to look him up and down, examining his outfit. "So you dressed like this to meet the girl you like?"
Lawrence scratched his head, somewhat complaining.
"Well, that's because you insisted I go shoot that commercial."
Ember propped up his head and sighed. "Phoenix hasn't been behaving well since being replaced. She deliberately told her fans that she was replaced because she wasn't good enough, directing all the blame toward Isabella."
"Those fans who support Phoenix may not know yet who your concert piano accompanist is, but they're all holding a grudge about someone pushing Phoenix out."
"Phoenix is just hoping your accompanist will make some mistakes, and then Isabella will become everyone's target."
Originally, it was just a piano accompaniment - it didn't really matter who it was.
But now Phoenix had pushed it to the center of controversy.
"She's so petty!" Lawrence said with displeasure.
"Phoenix has always operated this way. If someone makes things difficult for her, she'll definitely make things difficult for them too." Ember picked up his water and took a sip, looking up at Lawrence. "That's one reason why I wasn't very supportive of you replacing Phoenix."
"Lawrence, it's not too late to regret this. I can find you an accompanist with rich stage experience. That would be better for you and for Isabella..."
"After all, Isabella is just a high school senior. She can't handle the consequences of making mistakes on stage."
"Ember, I know you mean well." Lawrence looked at Ember with very determined eyes. "But I believe in Isabella."
Ember paused. "Why do you trust a young girl you've only met a few times so much?"
"I don't know. Maybe it's a kind of... intuition."
Ember pressed his temples with a headache. "Fine, whatever you want."
——
Lawrence left Ember's office and returned downstairs.
"Violet, you don't need to interview again. Ember has already watched your interview video. She said your performance was completely fine. The artist contract department will send you an offer letter directly, and you can sign with our company right away, with Class A artist treatment."
"Really?"
"Of course it's real."
Violet cheered and hugged Isabella. "Isabella! You're my lucky star!"
If Isabella hadn't gotten Lawrence to fight for her chance to participate in the selection, she wouldn't have had the opportunity to come here at all, let alone successfully sign with Infinity Entertainment Inc.
When she becomes famous, she'll definitely buy Isabella the most beautiful mansion in Emerald City!
"Lawrence, thank you."
Violet felt everything was unbelievable. She was about to become an artist at the same company as Lawrence.
"You're welcome. I didn't really do anything. This is what you deserve - you have the talent for it."
"Lawrence, I wanted to treat you to a meal, but it looks like we don't have time today. We need to get back to school."
"I'll see you out."
"..."
The three of them headed downstairs.
Layla was still waiting for Gemma on the first floor, with those girls keeping her company.
She'd been waiting for almost an hour and was exhausted, tired and hot.
Thinking about how Violet was inside with a chair to sit on and air conditioning, while she, as a soon-to-be signed artist of Infinity Entertainment Inc., had been kicked out by two idiots who couldn't see straight, she wanted nothing more than to rush in and tear Violet apart.
Just as she was thinking this, a girl reminded her: "Layla, isn't that the lunatic from earlier? And Violet."
Layla looked up, and sure enough, it was those jerks.
Especially that man, wearing slippers and pajamas and just walking out like that - how embarrassing. She didn't know why security would tolerate such a man who couldn't even wear proper clothes walking around Infinity Entertainment Inc.
Without thinking, Layla walked over. "You lunatic, how dare you show your face in front of me again?"
Lawrence was seeing Isabella and Violet out and had specifically called for a driver to have a car take them back to school.
They were still waiting for the driver when several girls suddenly appeared in his field of vision.
Lawrence looked and frowned. "Why are you still at my company's entrance? Didn't I tell you to leave?"
Seeing he still had that tone, Layla laughed coldly. "Have you had enough of your act? If your brain isn't working right, go get it treated, okay?"
Lawrence's brow furrowed. "What did you say?"
Layla had just opened her mouth to say something when a voice came from the side. It was Gemma.
"Layla?"
