Chapter 116 Fragrance
The two interviewers froze.
"Gemma?"
At Infinity Entertainment Inc.'s selection, the head of selection had veto power, so when Gemma spoke up, it was a death sentence for Violet—no scoring needed.
Violet stood there, somewhat at a loss.
The two interviewers looked at Gemma with confusion in their eyes, clearly asking: she sang so well, why not give her a chance?
To this, Gemma offered no explanation, only saying in an official tone: "Violet, your performance was quite good, but it doesn't meet the standards of our Infinity Entertainment Inc. selection this time. Please leave and let the next contestant come in."
Violet clenched her palms, sighed quietly to herself, and turned to leave.
Sure enough, her abilities still weren't enough—she couldn't meet Infinity Entertainment Inc.'s standards.
The two interviewers were anxious and wanted to say something, but hesitated.
They were too low-ranking—what right did they have to question Gemma?
"Violet, judging by your expression, you didn't pass the interview?" Layla walked up to Violet, raising her eyebrows slightly, her eyes showing a cold smile of schadenfreude.
Layla was ranked several spots behind Violet, so her turn hadn't come yet.
Violet looked coldly at Layla. "Whether I passed or not is none of your business. Shut your mouth!"
Layla covered her mouth and laughed softly. "I warned you before—Infinity Entertainment Inc. isn't something you can reach for. You insisted on overestimating yourself, and now look, such a failure."
"Just because I can't pass the selection doesn't mean you can."
Violet thought her performance wasn't particularly bad. Not passing the selection was simply because she didn't meet Infinity Entertainment Inc.'s standards.
As for Layla, although she had many fans, they were all male fans who liked her looks. When it came to singing, Layla was also mediocre.
If she couldn't be selected, then Layla had even less chance.
Hearing this, Layla looked Violet up and down disdainfully and said with a smile: "What are you saying? You think I'm like you? Just because you can't do something doesn't mean I can't either."
"When I get selected later, don't be jealous of me."
"Then I'll definitely watch closely to see if you can actually get selected."
Anyway, only a few people were ahead of Layla, so Violet simply sat down to wait and see Layla's result.
Outside the interview waiting room.
Isabella was crouched in a chair with a tablet on her lap, listlessly watching a recently released anime.
Lawrence ran over and immediately spotted Isabella in the chair, his eyes lighting up.
It had been so long, and Isabella was still so pretty and cute.
"Isabella! I'm here!"
Lawrence ran over excitedly.
Isabella heard someone calling her and looked up in confusion.
The person approaching was wearing cartoon pajamas and pants, with cartoon-patterned slippers on his feet, looking sleepy and disheveled as he ran toward her.
At first glance, Isabella thought it was a crazy person released from a mental hospital.
It wasn't until he shouted, "Why didn't you tell me you were coming? I overslept!" that she realized it was Lawrence.
Isabella finally recognized him. Today's Lawrence was really different from their first meeting—not only was he not wearing makeup, but his hair was messy too. His features were still good-looking, just lacking that stunning quality from their first meeting, and his lips had no color.
"You..." Isabella hesitated, then couldn't help asking, "Did you just wake up?"
It was seven in the evening, not seven in the morning.
"Yes, I just woke up. I had a commercial shoot that went from last night until noon today. I didn't even go home—I just slept at the company."
He had still been lying in bed earlier when he checked the time and remembered that today Isabella was accompanying her friend to the selection. Afraid he'd be too late to see Isabella, he rushed down without even changing clothes.
Lawrence scratched his head. Although his appearance today wasn't very handsome, Isabella would surely understand.
"So, how did your friend's interview go?"
Isabella gestured toward the waiting room. "Don't know, I'm still waiting for her."
"Then I'll wait with you."
Lawrence said courageously, then sat down shyly.
He looked at the tablet on Isabella's lap curiously. "What are you watching? I want to watch too."
Isabella turned to smile at him and moved the tablet a bit closer to him.
The two huddled together watching the anime.
Being so close, Lawrence faintly smelled a subtle fragrance from Isabella.
This scent...
It was exactly the same as the scent he remembered from Serenity.
This smell made him feel strangely familiar, though he couldn't tell if it was perfume or something else.
"Mr. Parker, this way please."
A group of men in black suits came out of the elevator.
Leading them was Soren, with Samuel Harris, the current manager of Infinity Entertainment Inc., courteously showing him the way.
Soren was passing by Infinity Entertainment Inc. today and came in to inspect.
After leaving the elevator and passing a corridor corner, Soren suddenly looked to the right.
With that glance, he saw two people huddled together on a chair in the distance.
One of them—wasn't that his fourth brother Lawrence?
Soren paused slightly, his sharp gaze sweeping over the girl beside him.
That girl... was she the one Lawrence had taken a liking to recently?
She looked quite nice.
No wonder Lawrence was so fascinated.
She just seemed a bit young.
Soren couldn't help thinking that if Ainsley were still around, she'd probably be about the same age as this girl.
Seeing Soren stop, Samuel thought he was curious about what was happening there and explained: "Mr. Parker, the company is holding new talent selections recently. That's the selection hall where the selection department is conducting interviews. Would you like to go in and take a look?"
"No need."
Soren had no interest in such matters.
He withdrew his gaze and asked a few more questions about Lawrence's recent situation. Seeing nothing that required his concern, he moved elsewhere.
——
Lawrence stared at Isabella for quite a while before finally speaking: "Isabella, are you using..."
Just then, Isabella suddenly looked up toward the selection hall entrance. "Violet?"
Violet came out looking somewhat lost, as if she'd suffered some blow.
Isabella was stunned. "What happened?"
Violet walked over and sat down beside her. Thinking about how Isabella had asked for this opportunity for her to participate in the selection, and how she'd messed it all up, she felt terribly guilty.
"I'm sorry, Isabella. I didn't pass the selection. I'm so useless."
