Chapter 54
Seeing them driving off, Benta had a conflicted look. This was the first time she felt such a person; she was so young, but it seemed that she understood human nature and the world so well.
As they talked, Scarlet added another five hundred on top, saying that only five hundred was being stingy. However, she wondered what she would say if she knew how much those people earned every month. The executives were given each five thousand, not much as but it showed how good their new boss was.
She told her assistant to call all the employees, as she needed to make things right, as she had seen how some were looking at both Scarlet and Angela. Those who were at home hurried to work, though they were confused about everything.
“Mom, guess who I saw?” Angela asked her mother, making the woman who had been speaking with Sophia turn to her daughter.
“Who?” she asked as she wasn’t in the guessing mood.
“The siblings who lived opposite us. They are working at the club,” Angela said, stunning her mother.
“Evans and Evaline?” she asked, finding it unbelievable, but when she recalled everything that had happened in the last few months, she felt it was possible.
“Yeah. They are so miserable. When they saw me, they were stunned. You know, after the family went bankrupt and their parents died, they had no one else to rely on other than themselves. I have been hearing rumors that they work there, but I didn’t believe it. Evans dropped out of university so that he could earn money to take his sister to school. Since it is on a weekend, Evaline is helping him out. She told me that though she won’t get what her brother gets, it is better than none. It’s a good thing that though they lose everything, they still have the villa,” Angela said.
“I even told her that they could sell the villa so that they could go to school, but she refused. She said that if they sold it, they won’t have anything left that their parents worked hard for,” Angela said, making Mrs Cole sigh.
The siblings were so proud. After the death of their parents, they all thought that since they had a villa, the family situation couldn’t be so bad, but they never thought that it was that bad.
“Who are those?” Scarlet asked curiously.
“Those siblings live in the same area we live. As you heard what Angela said, their parents died, but thinking that Evans, who is so talented, has to drop out, it is so heartbreaking. You don’t know, he was the first in our city when he took the college entrance exams three years ago. He should be going to his fourth year. He is doing business management. Oh, right, Sophia, didn’t you say that you guys are looking for someone to learn under Benta so that they can take over the manager position? You can consider him, he has been known as a genius since he was young. I believe he will be able to do a good job. Also, if he has been working there, he should be familiar with everything. I wish I could help them too, but I know how proud they are to take anyone’s help; we can only help that way,” Mrs Cole said, making Angela’s eyes light up.
“Yes. They are good. We grew up with them, we just fell distant after their parents died, as they started avoiding us. I think that it is because they felt that we aren’t in the same class anymore,” Angela said.
“What happened to their family business?” Scarlet asked.
“I heard from my husband that they signed a contract with a company in the capital. Thinking that it was a good deal, they will soon enter the capital market. However, the people were just scams; there wasn’t even a company under that name. They had just rented a building so that the party could believe them. After depositing money so that the project could start, those people ran away. Leaving the Walters with debts, after paying debts, taxes, and the employees, they had nothing left. Mrs Walters fell sick after all this and died after a few weeks. With the grief of his wife’s death and the company bankruptcy, Mr Walters fell into depression and drinking. He had an accident on his way back home at night one day,” Mrs Cole narrated, making Scarlet sigh.
She heard of this story in the past. The son, though he gave up going to school, still went to libraries to study. The sister entered the entertainment industry after being discovered by scouts cause of her beauty. In three years, she rose to fame.
The money she had earned, she went to school and even paid for her brother’s school fees. They had taken their revenge on the people who scammed their family with Matthew’s help.
The moment Matthew saw the talent the young man had, he employed him on his side. He was one of the people who helped Matthew rise in the future. Now that she heard that she could help, how could she refuse such a talented person? She had also studied thinking of how to help her sister get into the entertainment industry.
After all, she knew who had not joined the entertainment industry yet and would be famous in the future. She could use that. However, when she recalled the money in her hands and the lack of talented people, she put the idea aside; she could first help her brother.
“Okay, Auntie,” Scarlet said, making both Angela and her mother thank her.
They went to see the villa.
When Scarlet saw that it thrice bigger than the Jenkins mansion, she sighed at fate. It had a swimming pool, a basketball pitch, a pool, a cinema, and a gym inside and outside. There was a parlour where one cook made barbecues. The compound was also huge, with green grass, trees to provide shades where necessary, and in some corners, even had flowers.
“I just know that this villa is empty, but I never expected it to be so huge. It's even larger than ours. Scar, why don’t we exchange?” Angela said, making her mother slap her back. However, Mrs Cole was also surprised.
When they suggested the villa, she had texted her husband to inform the management so they could open the gates for them.
“I like this place,” Sophia said as the air was even fresher cause of the trees and flowers. Also, she could have her own studio. There was even the workers' apartment behind the villa.
“Who used to live here?” Scarlet asked as she was curious.
“This house has always been empty cause it is too expensive,” the salesperson who had been sent said.
“How much? I remember grandpa telling uncle that our villa’s market price is two hundred and twenty million. When he bought it years back, it was fifty million,” Angela said, making the man smile.
“Correct. However, this villa also has a horse stable and a large field for the horses to run and eat. The trees you saw behind are part of this villa,” the salesperson said, stunning them.
“Uhm. I think it is a wrong suggestion then. How can two ladies manage all this?” Mrs Cole said.
“The boss had initially wanted to build other such houses, but when he saw that it wasn’t going, he stopped and started building small villas. You can say that this villa was the first to be built. You should know that the mansions in the capital look like this,” the person said, and Mrs Cole nodded.
“This is one of our many properties in the country. We have such mansions in the capital and also City Z, B, and N,” he added.
“Our city is a third-rate city. How did you guys expect to sell?” Angela said with a pout, making Scarlet chuckle.
“Don’t you think with this property, we can keep some horses here and also enjoy life when we want to?” Scarlet said, stunning Angela, who immediately laughed.
“I suspect that the money you have won’t be enough,” Sophia said, wiping off the smile on Scarlet’s face.
“How much is it?” she asked the man.
“Six hundred million,” he said, making even Angela depressed.
“What if I sell the yacht and the car for you so that you can buy it?” Angela said, making her mother slap her.
Scarlet calculated the money she had. She currently has four hundred and fifty million. She took her phone and logged into the stocks website.
“Wait for a few minutes, please,” she said as she started typing.
She had earned a little money with the Whites' shares as she had first caused a smoke rise, then caused them to drop. She had sold the stocks half an hour earlier. She saw that she had a hundred million in her account and withdrew it.
“Still not enough,” she mumbled, feeling frustrated. In this life, she wanted to give her aunt and herself the best things. Thus, even if it wasn't really necessary for them to have such a huge mansion, she was going all for it. They needed to enjoy life.
“No discount on anything?” she asked the man in a displeased tone, making the man smile as he had wondered why they weren’t asking them when it was obvious they didn’t have enough money.
“The discount on full payment is ten percent,” he said, making Scarlet smile happily.
“Then let’s go finish the procedure,” she said, stunning the others.
“Wait, you have that kind of money? Five hundred and forty?” Angela asked, curious. All eyes were on Scarlet. The man had already left to get the documents in his car.
“Yeah. Though I am now so broke,” Scarlet said as she sat down dramatically.
“Luckily, this mansion has everything new,” she said.
“They always change the furniture every five years if it hasn’t been bought. You are lucky, they just changed everything last week,” Mrs Cole said, surprising Scarlet.
“I think even the heavens wanted me to have this property,” she said, shamelessly making her aunt chuckle, though she was worried.
They had not yet bought the fabric needed. They had just given Mr Gibson thirty million, the workers' wages, and the few things that could be bought in the city. Other than that, they had not done anything. She wondered whether they were really going to open the studio on Monday.
“Aunt, relax. I have some money left,” Scarlet said when she saw the worried look on her aunt’s face.
