Chapter 239
Chapter 239
Scarlet flashed him a bright smile at that. “Too bad that being an actress is tiresome. Also, I don’t want to be competing with Samantha, fourth brother, and Nova for the awards. As long as I get to touch the trophies after they win them, it’s the same as me winning them,” she said.
A chorus of “Shameless” was heard; however, it didn’t make her smile waver. Instead, it got brighter.
Watching them, Sophia had a helpless smile on her face, but she was happy seeing Scarlet so free and happy. “Shouldn’t we get going so that we can make it before Brianna and her family leave?” she asked as she had a feeling that if someone didn’t interrupt them, they might keep going.
The siblings nodded and stood up.
Liam remained seated; he could tell that it was their family thing. Though they were a family, he didn’t want to intrude when he wasn’t asked to join them.
“Leave. I will tell Finley to make your favorite dishes so that you can eat immediately you arrive,” he said as he waved them.
“You are the best second brother,” Scarlet said as she blew him a kiss, causing the man to chuckle, amused by her gesture. However, when he thought of the delicious meals his little brother always prepared, a wide smile appeared on his face.
He didn’t turn around; he watched them as they left the house patiently before standing and walking to the kitchen.
Finley was busy kneading the dough. Hearing the familiar footsteps followed by his brother’s perfume, he lifted his head, only to find the latter leaning on the door watching him with a wide smile. How could he not be familiar with that smile? He just rolled his eyes, then lowered his head, going back to his work.
“You know don’t have time to talk to your own brother, huh?” he asked as he pretended to be hurt.
“Your acting skills are so fake,” Finley replied, causing Liam’s scheming gaze to vanish, replaced with a serious look, but his eyes had darkened.
Though the man released a cold and oppressive aura, Finley wasn’t afraid of him, as he knew his brother so well.
“Just say what brought you here. I am so busy, as you can see,” Finley said as he continued with his work before lifting his head to look at him, a smirk on his face. “Or are you here to help me out cooking tonight’s dishes?”
“Scram,” Liam said coldly, causing Finley to chuckle.
Liam looked at the dough being kneaded, then sat at the counter. “What do you think of this country?” he asked.
Finley’s actions halted before continuing; he didn’t need to know what his brother was about to say. He had been asked this question countless times in the past, and hearing it again, he could always figure out what the man was scheming.
“We are here for six months,” he replied before turning around and looking at the servants who were working around him.
“Leave us,” he instructed.
“Yes, ninth young master,” they said before turning to leave.
“Though we are here and not many people know us here, one wrong mistake and we will be trending worldwide, being called names. If you want us to open a hotel here and be working in it, you need to wait after those six months,” Finley said.
Liam stared at his brother. “You will just be working in the kitchen. Who will know that you are working? Aren’t I going to Country C to work too?” he asked.
“It's different. There isn’t any Singh member there. Here, Aunt had been living for a very long time. The netizens here know about the family’s mourning period cause they were following what was happening back at home. Do you think it’s as easy as you claim it to be?” Finley asked, causing Liam to sigh.
“If there was anyone in Scarlet’s group who was interested in culinary skills, I would have passed it down to them during this period, when we open the hotel, and they manage, but even in that group, we don’t have anyone whom we can trust.
Brother, I understand the hunger of being rich and respected everywhere we go, but on this one, I am not going to support you. We can discuss it after the mourning period. At least by then, you have already made something of yourself and have your own connections. Who knows, I might come to Country C to open the hotel there first before opening one here.
After all, won’t it be better if we, the whole family, live in one place together?” Finley asked.
Liam stared at his brother deeply. A frown appeared on his face, then disappeared, replaced by a helpless look.
“You know that Mom and Dad can’t follow me there. Dad is still working in the company; if he really leaves, won’t we break eldest uncle’s heart? After all, he had never done anything wrong to us. Instead, he always supports us,” Liam replied, and Finley sighed.
“I know, but do you think that our parents will have a good life after Arthur takes over? What if he uses them to get your company in Country C in the future after our grandparents and eldest uncle aren’t with us anymore?” Finley asked, causing Liam to lower his head.
Everything that had happened back in America was still fresh in his mind; he couldn’t pretend that Arthur’s actions didn’t hurt him at all.
“There is still time. We will talk about it after a few years. For now, let us not be the ones who ruin that family’s peace. Also, do you think that after what eldest aunt and Arthur did to aunt Shanaya’s family, Shane will let them go scot-free? Let’s wait and watch what they are planning, as I don’t believe that they are so kind when they are crossed,” Liam said.
Finley stopped, his head still lowered, as he fell into deep thought and slowly nodded, thinking that his brother was right. With their vengefulness, who knows what they were up to? Even if they didn’t do anything, would their grandparents and eldest uncle just let Arthur and his mother go?
“I am quite curious what they are really after. Why is Martin here just for two days?” Finley asked as he lifted his head, staring at his brother, hoping that he knew the answer.
Liam stared at him, then chuckled. “With how silent you always are, one would think that you never care about what is going on around you and you aren’t one to gossip,” he said, causing Finley to glare at him.
“I was just asking. If you don’t want to tell me, then just say so; stop being so…” Finley said, then continued with his work.
Neither of them spoke; Liam just looked at his younger brother with a very serious gaze. “Fin, you need to remember, never be so curious about what people do, or it might get you in trouble. Yes, I know you rarely speak or get curious, and when you do, you ask me, but remember that walls have ears. As for what he is here to do, I don’t believe that we will remain in the dark, as the siblings rare hid anything.”
