Chapter 238
Chapter 238
Scarlet hummed as she walked up the stairs and patted her full stomach. She had eaten quite a lot cause the chefs had prepared all her favorites.
After getting full, she felt sleepy and started regretting having eaten so much while she had a lot of work to do.
She changed into a baggy T-shirt and climbed into her bed, and slept.
“It’s already two in the afternoon; shouldn’t we wake her up so that we can go?” Austin asked as he looked at the clock.
Martin glanced at the clock before taking a sip of the tea Finley had brewed for them.
“When did she go to sleep?” he asked calmly, his eyes landing on the butler who was standing at the side awaiting their command.
“Around seven thirty o’clock, second young master,” Mr Carter replied.
“Seven? Didn’t we arrive at around five?” Santino asked with a frown as he looked at the man.
“Fifth young master, the young miss had a meeting with her subordinates from five forty-five o’clock till six thirty. After that, she went and had her breakfast before going to sleep,” Mr Carter answered with his head lowered.
“That girl. Didn’t I tell her to get enough rest? Why?” Martin asked with a sigh, feeling helpless as he didn’t know what to do with Scarlet.
“Let her be. She had slept on the plane; it’s understandable if she wasn’t sleepy and used her time to do work. I am so sure that she must have gone to sleep cause she was so full,” Sophia said. How could she not know someone she brought up on her own?
“So? Shouldn’t we wake her up? I am quite busy and want to finish this business before the Parkers leave,” Austin said.
“Leave? Are you leaving with them?” Luke asked as he stared at Austin.
“Yeah. The girls need my help in starting a business in City B. I am just going there to help Brianna find the perfect location and all before I come back,” Austin said, thinking that there was nothing to hide while they would soon find out.
“Why do they need you, a racer, to help them? I hope it isn’t anything illegal,” Martin said, his eyes turning cold as he stared at their fourth brother, wondering how he could support the kids doing such business.
“Relax, who said anything about illegal business? Brianna’s ancestors made their money through selling horses, but her father ventured into another business. They want to close the horse business, but Brianna is very interested in that business. That’s why the girls backed her up. She should try convincing her family to let her manage that business while I help her build a horse racing and horse riding training school,” Austin explained what he knew, stunning them.
“The girls? They thought all these?” Liam asked as he closed his legs before leaning back on his sofa, placing his hand in the sofa’s arms as he stared at Austin.
“Yeah, sometimes I wonder what goes on in their brains. Everyone in that group knows what they want to do. Sometimes they make me think that Mom is still around and she is the one who is pushing them like this,” Martin said as he had an idea of what each one of them wanted to do in the future.
“It’s good that they motivate and push each other. I believe that they are working so hard cause they don’t want to be left behind by Scarlet. Her speed, I believe that in one or two years, she would be unstoppable,” Santino added.
“As her brothers, we shouldn’t drag them down; we should work hard to be able to protect them and confidently stand and say that they are our sisters, as we have a lot of money than them. If they have more money than we do, do you think that they would be listening to us?” Liam asked.
Sophia, at the side, watched the men talking and chuckled. “With how stubborn they are, I can confidently claim that they would never even look at your side. Immediately they sense that you want to say something, they would turn around and leave.”
Everyone turned to look at her. “What? They are quite arrogant and stubborn; I would give them that,” she said as they all nodded, agreeing with her words.
“Go wake her up. Why should we soften when they get money? They would turn against us?” Martin asked with a frown.
Sophia felt like laughing, but she didn’t dare. Though Martin was soft and not like Shane, she didn’t dare get on his wrong side. One could say that he was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
The butler turned to Sophia as he was confused whether to really wake their young miss up or not when he saw Sophia’s reaction.
Seeing his questioning gaze, Sophia nodded, and the man walked to the kitchen.
“Was he told to wake Scarlet up? Why is he going to the kitchen? Or is sister sleeping in the kitchen?” Santino asked, causing Sophia to laugh.
“Do you really expect him to walk to a lady’s room and wake her up? Wasn’t it Scarlet is sleeping naked?” They all looked at her when they heard her words.
“Well, I didn’t say that she does, but he isn’t family, so he can’t just walk in there to wake her up. He is going to the kitchen to call his wife. As for him being the butler, his wife is a housekeeper; most of the things he can’t do are done by her,” Sophia explained, and the men nodded.
“At least you guys came up with such a perfect thing. Unlike at home, where any maid can be sent,” Liam said, shrugging at the gazes they gave him.
“Though we trust all our employees, they can’t go around walking in every room. Mrs Carter is also the one who cleans our rooms and study room,” Sophia replied.
“You should choose another person for the cleaning. The lady, Mrs Carter, can just go look at the room after it has been cleaned if everything is where it's supposed to be. Now that Austin, Santino, and Finley will be living here with you, do you expect her to clean their rooms too? Not to mention the girls, Angela, Brooke, and Samantha. I am quite sure that most of the time they will be spending time here; are you going to let their rooms be cleaned by her?” Martin asked, causing Sophia to frown.
“You are right. I will get to that,” Sophia replied as she nodded.
As they continued speaking, Scarlet descended as she rubbed her eyes with her right hand and yawned; on her left hand, she carried a handbag.
“That’s quite a surprise. Since when did you carry a handbag with you?” Sophia asked as she looked at Scarlet in surprise.
“Good morning to you too,” Scarlet replied. Her brothers chuckled.
“Still sleepy after sleeping for so long?” Austin asked, a mischievous grin on his face.
Scarlet stopped rubbing her eyes and looked at him. “Well, if you are jealous that I slept more hours than you, just state it; no need beating around the bush.”
A doting smile appeared on the brothers’ and Sophia’s faces as they looked at her, apart from Austin, who was busy glaring at her.
Scarlet stuck her tongue out before hurriedly walking to Martin. "Brother, look, he is glaring at me," she said as she held the latter's hand.
Martin softly flickered her nose and asked, "Why are you complaining while you are the one who started it?"
"Started it? Who me? Isn't he the one who started calling me sleepyhead?" Scarlet asked, disbelief written all over her face. She clutched her hands to her heart as she pretended to be in pain. "You are backing him up in bullying me?" Tears welled in her eyes, making them all speechless.
"If I say that you can become a winning award actress, would I be wrong?" Austin asked.
