Chapter 108
When Mr Walker walked in and saw all of the Singhs' men and Old Mr Singh, he was stunned but still walked in.
“Sir,” he called him.
In the past, the Walkers were wealthier than the Singh, but with the sudden increase in industries, the Singhs surpassed them and became the most feared family after the Williams. They would get into industries the other families were in and compete with them to see who would top in that industry.
At the beginning, a lot of families opposed them, but they couldn’t do anything against them as they had been involved with the shipping business. If they went against the Singhs, but the guys didn’t fear them, instead, they refused to transport their products across the countries near the ocean.
“Please have a seat,” Old Mr Singh said as he glanced at the empty sofa that could fit two.
Young master Walker glanced at the sofa, then at the five men in the room, and sneered inwardly. He wondered why they still thought that they would remain on top after those six months.
Ava had analysed everything to him, everything, and the Singhs only outcome. He didn’t believe that they could still remain on top.
“Why do we owe this visit?” Mr Singh asked the Walkers. Even if he couldn’t understand what his father was up to, he still went on and asked, as he was curious to understand what was going on.
“We are looking for Martin to terminate the cooperation with him,” Mr Walker said, making Old Mr Singh sneer.
“Let me guess. You believe that since the Singhs are going in mourning for six months, their position will change and other families will surpass us, right?” he asked coldly, stunning his sons, who immediately turned their attention to the Walkers.
The Walkers' cooperation was initiated by their sister. Since she started getting into the industry, she worked with the Walkers. When asked, she had said that they would always be their partners who knew that after her burial, the family would be the first to step on them. No, on Martin, Shanaya’s son?
“Sir, we are just afraid of losing money in these six months. Martin won’t be taking clients, so the fabric orders will decrease. We will be losing money,” young master Walker said, causing Old Mr Singh stare at him.
“Is this your thoughts or the Saywer’s young miss?” he asked coldly. He didn’t like to be treated like a kid. His question stunned the father and son duo, and they lowered their heads in embarrassment.
“Even if Martin will not be taking orders, won’t terminating the cooperation lead to you losing more money?” Second Mr Singh asked, but the Walker men just glanced at him, then at each other, before falling silent.
The Singhs didn’t need to be told anything as they understood that the Walkers had another family to work with. If they weren’t wrong, then it was the Grants who were just below them. Second Mr Singh sneered at the thought.
Old Mr Singh took his phone and dialed Martin’s number. If he had not discussed these with Scarlet and Sophia, he would have felt betrayed, but since they chose that, then they would give them what they wanted.
“Grandpa,” Martin called softly when he picked up the call.
“The Walkers are here to terminate the collaboration with you,” Old Mr Singh said, going directly to the point.
“What! How can they? They are Sophia’s…” Martin said restlessly.
“I know. We will cancel it. We discussed everything in the morning,” Old Mr Singh said, stunning Martin.
Martin suddenly recalled that the old man had called all their uncles to the study and wondered whether it had to do with the Walkers.
“Okay. My assistant will bring the termination contract right away. They should remember to pay the termination fees,” Martin sneered.
“Good,” Old Mr Singh said before hanging up.
“You can leave and wait for his assistant outside,” Old Mr Singh said before ringing the bell, and his assistant walked in.
“Please show the guests out. Bring them back here when Martin’s assistant arrives,” Old Mr Singh said coldly.
The Walkers glanced at each other, and relief could be seen in their eyes. Though they were chased out of the Singh premises and had to wait outside, they didn’t mind or dare to leave, for they were afraid that Martin would change his decision.
After they left, all the brothers turned their gazes to their father, wanting him to explain what was happening.
“That young man had been chosen by Shanaya for Sophia. I forgot to ask Shane to call his mother’s lawyer, who had accompanied her back then, and to hand over the engagement token. Anyways, when he comes back, everything will be done. Sophia requested to cancel the engagement in the morning,” Old Mr Singh said, stunning the brothers. However, thinking of how their sister had even chosen Shane’s wife and even the date to get married, they didn’t say anything.
“But won’t that family go around saying bad things about her?” Fourth Mr Singh asked with a frown on his face.
“They never met Sophia. Also, Shanaya had used her mother’s surname when she promised marriage. They don’t know that their son is engaged to the Singh,” Old Mr Singh explained.
“It is a good thing to cancel the engagement. Who doesn’t know that the young man is crazily over the heels for the Sawyer girl? Who knows what our sister would be labeled if she married into that family?” Third Mr Singh said, but he sighed, feeling sorry for their little sister.
She had passed through a lot, and even her fiancée loved someone else, but it wasn’t easy for her. He wondered how she was coping.
“Even if they knew. With this attitude, I am sure that they would have come here instead to cancel the engagement,” Mr Singh said with a frown as he wondered what his sister was thinking getting such a man for Sophia. However, when he thought about his sister's death, maybe she didn’t know about Sawyer’s girl.
“After the marriage alliance is cancelled, I want you to accompany me to the Wilsons to propose a marriage alliance,” Old Mr Singh said, startling the men.
“Dad…”
“This is what Sophia wants. They believe that your sister had a reason for proposing an alliance with that family. She wanted to develop in that family. Since the Walkers don’t know what is good for them or whose family the lady was from, she can get engaged to the Wilson’s eldest grandson openly. They won’t have anything to say,” Old Mr Singh said.
“Dad, if we do this after the Walkers have terminated the collaboration, won’t the Wilsons believe that we are just taking them as substitutes? Also, if they hear that there was an engagement cancelled afterwards, do you want to tell me that they won’t connect it to Sophia? Mr Singh asked.
“Then what do you propose?” Old Mr Singh asked as he stared at his son.
“Send the lawyer immediately to the Walkers to cancel the engagement. Martin’s assistant can be delayed for a bit. When they hear that there is someone back at home who wants to cancel the engagement, they will leave immediately and go deal with them. After all, the Walkers want their eldest grandson to marry Ava Sawyer, so they won’t care about the collaboration and can come back after a few days,” Second Mr Singh said what he thought, making everyone stare at him.
He rarely proposed anything, thus they were shocked. However, the others soon nodded their heads, agreeing to the proposal.
“After the engagement has been cancelled. Dad, we can leave and go to Country Y in the afternoon and arrive there in the evening. We can go to the Wilsons to propose a marriage alliance. If they agree, then it's okay, if they don’t its still fine. Our sister doesn’t need a man to support her, we can,” Mr Singh said, causing Old Mr Singh stare at him in relief.
The boys weren’t close to Sophia and had been afraid that they won’t care about her. It seemed that he had been worried for nothing. Her brothers cared about her and will always be her powerful backers.
“Or we can first collaborate with them. If they agree, then we can go propose a marriage alliance after the mourning period. Who knows what people will say if we do when we are still in mourning? Third Mr Singh asked, making them all fall silent.
“Then let me discuss it with Sophia and Scarlet and see what they will say. However, the engagement should still be cancelled before the cooperation termination,” Old Mr Singh said, and they nodded in agreement.
Old Mr Singh called and explained everything to Scarlet.
“Then let’s do as you guys have agreed. It is the best idea. Let me ask brother where he kept the token so that the lawyer can come for it,” Scarlet said, then glanced at Shane.
“Where is Aunt’s engagement token?” Scarlet asked.
“I have it with me,” Shane said, surprising the two ladies.
“Why?” Sophia asked.
