Chapter 94: Farce
Helena's POV
Finally, the wedding began.
Accompanied by Knox, Henry, and Maria, I slowly made my way downstairs.
During that brief walk, my palms were slick with nervous sweat. Even though I knew everything had been arranged, I couldn't help but worry.
Noticing my tension, Knox looked at me and said, "Helena, what's wrong? Are you nervous?"
As he spoke, he placed his hand over mine. "Don't be nervous, I've got everything under control."
I managed a strained smile, my body rigid as I replied, "I'm fine."
Knox attentively helped lift the train of my wedding dress, saying, "Just follow the emcee's instructions in a bit, leave everything else to me. I've already made sure that no one will cause any trouble, not even my friends."
Hearing his words, my heart was instantly flooded with hatred again.
Right, he's the one who cheated. What do I have to be afraid of!
With this thought, a smile appeared on my lips. "Thank you, Knox."
"Thank me for what? We're about to be husband and wife. I should be thanking you—thank you for marrying me!"
Maria laughed beside us. "Alright, Helena, look how much Knox cares about you. Stop worrying."
"Okay."
I nodded, took a deep breath, and rode the elevator down to the first floor.
The first-floor hall was decorated festively, packed with throngs of guests.
I spotted many of Henry's business associates, as well as some unfamiliar faces—probably relatives from the Pemberton family.
Looking at all these people, I wasn't as nervous as before. My mind was filled with images of Knox and Natasha's upcoming humiliation.
After today, I would finally be able to completely break free from the Pemberton family.
I took a deep breath and was about to turn my head when I spotted Atlas nearby.
His plaintive gaze was fixed intently on me. My heart immediately tensed up, and I quickly turned my head back. A wave of panic washed over me—why hadn't Atlas left yet?
I hoped he wouldn't cause any trouble.
Just then, the emcee's voice rang out from the stage. With his announcement, everyone's attention was drawn to the big screen.
It was finally starting. My palms were sweating with nervousness.
As the emcee finished speaking, a conversation between Natasha and Knox played on the big screen, and soon footage of them having sex was exposed before everyone's eyes.
Instantly, the crowd fell silent. The entire hall echoed with Natasha and Knox's panting and moaning.
Guests snapping back to reality began pulling out their phones to record.
The emcee, coming to his senses, rushed to the big screen, frantically shouting to turn it off.
But the video continued playing—instead, the audio became even louder.
Seeing the explicit footage on screen, the guests below erupted in even louder commotion.
I turned to look at Natasha. Her panicked face was filled with terror.
Then she let out a scream and crouched on the ground, covering her face with both hands.
"What's going on?"
Willow stamped her feet anxiously. The Lockwood family relatives were stunned, standing below the stage like wooden statues.
Rosalind screamed and clutched her chest before falling backward.
She collapsed on the ground, and instantly, the people around her became even more chaotic.
"Mom, Mom, are you okay? Call a car, call a car!"
"Mrs. Lockwood has a heart condition. Call an ambulance!"
I saw Henry and John instantly thrown into chaos, carrying Rosalind outside.
The chaos below the stage was matched by chaos on stage.
His face red with rage, Knox rushed onto the stage and slapped the sound technician, knocking him to the ground.
"Turn it off, turn it off! I'm telling you to turn it off!"
The surrounding guests were trying to break up fights, watching the spectacle, cursing—the entire banquet instantly descended into chaos.
I stood on stage with cold detachment, observing the pandemonium, feeling a surge of satisfaction. In this life, I had finally completely broken free from the Pemberton family.
Just then, my hand was suddenly grabbed by a large palm. I turned to look—it was Atlas, his face full of smiles.
"Helena, let me take you away."
I looked around and saw that everyone's attention was on the screen on stage—no one had noticed me. A faint smile appeared on my face. "No."
"Why not?"
The smile on Atlas's face instantly froze. He said anxiously, "Helena, at a time like this, you don't still want to continue with the wedding, do you?"
I shook my head. "The show isn't over yet. Now isn't the time to leave."
Seeing me say this, Atlas gripped my hand tightly. "Alright, then I'll stay with you until this show is finished."
"Move aside, everyone move aside!"
Seeing the police arrive right on cue, a smile appeared in my eyes. The Pemberton family's retribution had come.
"Mr. Knox Pemberton, Mr. Xavier Pemberton, please come with us."
Watching as Knox and Xavier were about to be taken away, Arabella nearly lost her mind.
"What are you doing? Why are you arresting my son and husband? Let them go!"
But the police had no time for her nonsense. They simply showed their badges. "They're involved in a contract fraud case and need to come with us for questioning."
With that, the police quickly left with Knox and Xavier, leaving only Arabella collapsed on the ground, crying hysterically.
Having watched the show to this point, the curtain had finally fallen.
I looked at Atlas. "Let's go."
"Okay."
Atlas responded and pulled me toward the exit. Just as we walked out, I heard the sound of a car braking—a vehicle stopped right in front of me.
I looked at Atlas in surprise. He nodded. "I prepared it earlier. I was planning to steal you away at the wedding, but I didn't expect it wouldn't be necessary. At least the car didn't go to waste."
"Please."
I smiled and nodded, lifting my dress as I got into the car.
I recognized the driver as Tristan. He turned his head and grinned at me. "Ms. Lockwood, today's wedding was really quite a show. I'd say Knox's reputation is completely ruined!"
"Spectacular, absolutely spectacular! By the way, why were Knox and Xavier arrested?"
Since it involved internal secrets of the Lockwood Group, I didn't want to say much.
"You'll find out soon enough."
Hearing my response, Tristan wisely stopped asking.
Atlas also turned to look at me with a smile. "He brought it on himself. Knox can only hope for the best now."
Tristan, in the front seat, asked, "Atlas, where are we going next?"
"To the mall. Let's get Helena some clothes first."
Atlas finished speaking and looked at me with a smile. "Change your clothes first, then I'll take you for a good meal to help you calm down."
I have to say, after all this commotion, I was already hungry.
I nodded. "Okay."
"Hold on tight, we're heading to the mall now!"
Tristan said as he pressed hard on the gas pedal and drove straight toward the mall.
