Chapter 53 Rebellion
After hearing what I said, Knox's voice on the other end of the phone grew heavy.
"Helena, once we're married, we'll be husband and wife, we'll support each other. You can't just watch me struggle."
His words made me a bit impatient.
"That's after we get married. It's too early to talk about this now."
"Knox, is there anything else? If not, I need to sleep."
Without waiting for his response, I hung up directly.
By this time, Henry and Joseph had moved their conversation from the living room to the study, where they both began showing each other their artwork.
Seeing how well they were getting along made me very happy.
Joseph stayed at our house for two hours before reluctantly leaving.
As he left, he invited Henry to visit his company sometime.
After seeing Joseph off, Henry patted my head and said, "Helena, you've really given me quite a surprise."
I looked up at Henry with a smile. "Then Dad needs to reward me."
"Okay, okay, I'll give you whatever you want."
I shook my head. "I just want you and Mom to be healthy and live a long life."
Hearing this, something flickered in Henry's eyes. "We will. Your mother and I will live longer to keep you company."
"Then let's make a promise with a high-five."
I reached out my palm and high-fived Henry.
Henry smiled and shook his head. "Alright, go to bed now."
"Okay, Dad, you rest early too."
After saying this, I went upstairs to sleep.
Early the next morning, as expected, Knox came again.
When I came downstairs, I saw the table covered with all kinds of breakfast foods.
"Helena, I bought all this for you early this morning. Come try it."
There were cakes from the south side of town, sandwiches from the north side—all scattered around the city. It would take several hours to buy everything. Knox had really put in a lot of effort to please me.
"This is too much trouble. Knox, you'll spoil Helena like this."
Maria, not knowing the full story, kept praising Knox.
"As long as Helena likes it."
Knox attentively pulled out a chair for me to sit down.
"Knox, you sit down and eat too."
When Maria spoke, Knox quickly glanced at me before sitting down beside me.
After sitting down, he attentively picked up a piece of cake for me. "Helena, try this. This cake has a moderate flavor and is really good."
I nodded and took a bite. It melted in my mouth—not bad.
Seeing that I liked it, Knox quickly stood up and picked up another piece. "Have some more."
"Thanks, but I'm full."
I put down my utensils. Seeing that I was done eating, Knox also put down his utensils and stood up. "Then, Helena, let me drive you to the office."
"No need. I'm going to the hospital to see Grandma today."
Hearing I was going to the hospital, Knox quickly said, "Perfect, I'll go with you. Your grandmother is sick, and I really should visit her. It's my fault for not going earlier."
Seeing Knox clinging like a leech, I had to nod. "Alright, let's go together then."
Knox specially bought some supplements for Rosalind, then came to the hospital with bags in hand.
As soon as we reached the hospital room, I heard Willow's voice inside.
"Mom, now that Natasha's matter is settled, I think you should go home. Staying here all the time isn't a long-term solution."
"That's right, Grandma. If you keep staying here and don't go home, Mom has to run back and forth, which is exhausting. I think you should just go home."
As soon as Natasha finished speaking, I heard Rosalind snort. "What nonsense are you talking about? I have caregivers and servants here. Where does your mother need to run back and forth? You only have eyes for your mother—Don't I matter?"
Seeing her angry, Willow quickly said, "Mom, Natasha is just worried about you, right, Natasha?"
After Willow spoke, Natasha's voice rang out again. "Yes, Grandma, I'm just worried about you."
"Enough, I know you two just say nice things."
Hearing this, I smiled coldly. It seemed these three weren't getting along so well after all. Breaking them apart would happen sooner or later.
With this thought, I pushed the door open directly. "Grandma."
Rosalind, sitting in the suite wearing high-quality fabric clothing with a gemstone bracelet on her wrist, looked distinguished and energetic—not at all like someone who was sick.
"What are you doing here?"
Rosalind looked at me with displeasure.
"Mrs. Lockwood, hello. Helena and I came to see you together."
Only then did Rosalind notice Knox behind me. The moment she saw Knox, her face quickly broke into a smile.
"Knox is here too."
Rosalind quickly directed, "Natasha, go take those things."
"Let me."
After hearing this, Natasha hurried forward to take the items from Knox's hands.
Knox naturally sat down beside Rosalind. "I heard from Helena that you were ill. I should have come earlier, but I've been busy these past few days and kept putting it off. Please don't blame me."
"You young people are busy with important matters. I'm fine."
As Rosalind spoke, she looked at Knox with a smile full of satisfaction. Clearly, she was very pleased with Knox.
Seeing Rosalind so satisfied with Knox, Natasha spoke up. "Grandma, Knox is a business genius with a bright future. He'll be part of the Lockwood family soon."
After Natasha spoke, the smile on Rosalind's face faded a bit.
"Knox, after Helena marries you, don't spoil her. Helena is fine in every way, except her parents have spoiled her too much. Women need to be properly managed."
"I will. Thank you, Mrs. Lockwood."
Knox glanced at me discreetly. Seeing my expressionless face, he quickly realized and explained, "Actually, Helena has a good temper. Don't worry, Mrs. Lockwood, we'll definitely be happy together."
"Enough, you don't need to cover for her in front of me. Don't I know what Helena is like?"
Rosalind snorted coldly. "Very rebellious."
"Grandma, that's not fair. Last time after you fainted, I didn't make Natasha return the things. I did that following your wishes. You can't bite the hand that feeds you."
Rosalind snorted coldly. "You dare to say that? You made me so angry that I ended up in the hospital. Do you have to make me die before you're satisfied?"
I replied with a smile, "Look at you—you're so healthy. You don't look like someone who could be angered to death at all."
Hearing this, Rosalind was stunned for a moment, then quickly reacted in fury. "You brat, how dare you curse me!"
Rosalind turned to Willow in anger. "Call Henry right now and tell him to come here!"
"Oh no, Dad's busy. Grandma, if you want Dad to scold me, wait until you go home."
"Dad might be busy signing contracts right now. If we delay his business, our whole family could go bankrupt."
I smiled slightly. "After all, Uncle John's family depends on Dad, too, don't they?"
