Chapter 241 Tricked
Chapter 241 Tricked
As soon as I got home from the office, I couldn't wait to call Nancy.
"Yeah, we were together last night. Didn't you see those entertainment reports too?"
Nancy's voice came through the phone, but I still found it hard to believe.
"Why didn't Atlas show any interest in you all these years, but suddenly he's with you now?"
As soon as I said that, I heard Nancy chuckle on the other end. "Who knows? But anyway, Atlas and Helena broke up. As long as they're split up, that's good news for me!"
"Don't you mind though?"
The moment those words left my mouth, I regretted them a bit. What would Nancy mind? What she minded was that Atlas never liked her!
Sure enough, Nancy laughed again on the other end. "Mind what? As long as Atlas is with me, forget about him already breaking up with Helena—even if they hadn't broken up, I wouldn't mind."
This time Nancy really lucked out!
Though Helena's breakup with Atlas was largely thanks to Nancy. Thinking of this, I said coldly, "Keep your man in check. Don't let him go bothering Helena again."
Nancy refused flatly. "I can't control that, but don't worry—those two won't get back together."
I asked in a low voice, "Why are you so sure?"
Nancy laughed lightly. "I'm just that sure. They're both such proud people—how could they possibly humble themselves?"
"Just wait and see. Even if Atlas goes looking for Helena, there's no way those two will get back together."
Nancy's prediction really came true. Over the next few days, whenever we went to work, we could see Atlas hanging around downstairs at the company. Unfortunately, Helena never showed up.
Later, Atlas finally managed to intercept Helena. The two met, but they had a huge fight. After that, Atlas never appeared again, while Helena started having strange male companions around her.
These male companions changed almost daily, but you could tell that after they appeared, Atlas completely disappeared.
This time they were really and truly done. Seeing all this, I knew my chance had come.
"Helena, here are the contracts I've secured."
When I handed the contracts to Helena, my palms were sweating with nervousness, but I was confident these two contracts were flawless. Even the legal department wouldn't find anything wrong with them. Still, I was nervous—after all, these were deals worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and my success or failure depended on them.
Until the goods were produced, anything could change.
As expected, when Helena saw the contracts, she didn't suspect a thing.
"Ivan, you brought in both of these deals?"
Helena looked at me with obvious appreciation. These two contracts together were worth over five hundred million dollars. Just these two deals already far exceeded last year's order volume—no wonder she was so happy.
I nodded modestly. "Yes, Helena. These two deals were introduced by my classmates from abroad. One of them is actually an order from my classmate's own company."
I pointed as I spoke. "This one here—their business covers a wide range, including hospitals and the automotive industry. They're exactly the kind of partner we can work with deeply. It's only because of him that I was able to get this deal, but they have a requirement: they won't provide advance payment. They need to see a batch produced first, and only after inspection will they pay the deposit."
"That's reasonable, very reasonable."
Helena didn't suspect anything at all and nodded. "It's normal to be this careful with a first-time cooperation."
Then she picked up the other contract. "What about this one? Same situation?"
I nodded. "Yes, they also require seeing the goods first before paying the deposit."
After hearing me out, Helena thought for a moment. "I can't give you an answer right away on this. I need to discuss it in a meeting."
"Alright, Helena. I'll wait for your news."
I wasn't too worried about their discussion, because the contracts weren't fake—they were just voided contracts I'd bought at a high price. No matter how they checked, they wouldn't find any problems.
Sure enough, after a two-hour meeting, my contracts were approved.
The moment I got this news, I was thrilled and almost jumped for joy. I hadn't expected it to go so smoothly.
When Helena handed the contracts back to me, they now bore a red seal.
"Ivan, once the payment comes in, you'll definitely get your full commission."
As I took the contracts, I sneered inwardly. What commission? What I wanted was the entire Lockwood Group!
The machinery started running, and my plan entered its final phase.
What followed went exceptionally smoothly. The samples were quickly produced, and the other party was very satisfied. The deposit—ten percent of the total—was directly transferred to the company account. After getting the money, Helena was even happier and generously gave me a hundred thousand dollars in spending money. I turned around and gave this money to Natasha.
Since she married Knox, she'd been coming back crying constantly—either complaining that the Pemberton family didn't respect her because her dowry wasn't enough, or that Knox had stayed out all night again!
After so many tearful complaints, I'd gradually become numb to it all.
We all knew perfectly well what kind of person Knox was, but she had insisted on marrying him anyway. Knowing it was hell but jumping in anyway—she had to bear the consequences of her own choice.
But after all, she was my sister. No matter how foolish she was, I couldn't bear to watch her suffer in the Pemberton family.
When she got married, John had indeed taken her dowry to pay off the Lockwood Group's debts, leaving her with pitifully little money. No wonder the Pemberton family looked down on her.
Now that I had money, naturally I wanted to spend it on her first.
So when Helena casually gave me a hundred thousand dollars in spending money, I wasn't grateful. Instead, Natasha's tear-stained face flashed before my eyes.
If Helena hadn't forced John to return the three hundred million dollars he'd embezzled, Natasha wouldn't have been pushed to this point by the Pemberton family.
But I wouldn't let Helena off easy. Once this batch of goods was produced, the Lockwood Group would be mine!
I knew that having me inherit the Lockwood Group was the wish of both John and Rosalind's generations. Now this wish was finally about to come true.
When that happened, Helena would have no choice but to beg me on her knees. Thinking of this, I couldn't help but smile smugly, determined to get the Lockwood Group!
Soon, when Brandon from the production department told me the goods were finished and ready to be shipped, I knew I was one step closer to getting the Lockwood Group.
Watching the ships loaded with goods slowly set sail, my heart stirred with excitement again. This time, I would make Helena beg me for mercy on her knees!
