Chapter 149: Completely Miserable
Whether or not Natasha was really behind the news story, she's the only one who can fix this problem now - after all, she's directly involved in this mess.
Having her come forward would be more convincing and could directly shift the focus away from us.
Willow and John came today and not only got hit hard, but didn't gain any advantage at all.
It was so satisfying to watch.
After they left, Maria almost clapped and cheered.
"My Helena is so capable!"
Seeing the smile on Maria's face, I knew this was the first time in all these years that Maria had vented the frustration she'd suffered from John's family.
"We really have Dad to thank for this."
Hearing my words, Maria agreed, "Yes, your dad deserves all the credit this time. I'll pick out a nice gift to thank him properly later."
"Mom, don't you see? Dad doesn't care about gifts. What he wants most is for you to be healthy and safe."
Hearing this, Maria smiled knowingly and nodded, "You're right. This whole thing really scared your dad."
"Alright, I know what to do. You go take care of your business, I'll handle your dad."
"Perfect, I need to go to the office anyway. I'm off then."
With that, I waved and left.
When I got back to the office, Atlas called soon after.
"Helena, I just heard about the news story, but I see you've already handled it, right?"
I nodded, "Yes."
Then I told him about forcing Natasha to hold a press conference.
"Well done!"
Atlas on the other end praised my approach.
"That's exactly how you should deal with these terrible people. I happen to have some sex photos and videos of Knox and his secretary Lucy, but the content is too disgusting, so I won't send them to you yet."
"But I think people might be very interested in these scandalous affairs."
I immediately understood what he meant.
He was planning to expose these things online.
So bad, but I love it!
I laughed, "Sure, since things are already so lively, let's join in."
"I knew you'd think the same way!"
Atlas laughed, "Good, then just sit back and enjoy the show."
After hanging up, thinking about Knox's furious reaction when he sees the video made me feel great.
I'd always felt something was off about Lucy and his relationship, but I never expected they were actually having an affair.
Perfect, let's expose this and give Natasha a headache.
Thinking about this, my mood improved considerably.
Just as I was about to sit down, someone knocked on my office door.
"Come in."
The office door opened and York walked in.
"Helena, you came to work?"
Seeing his flattering smile, I looked up, "What is it?"
"Nothing, just haven't seen you in a few days and missed you."
"Sweet talker!"
I smiled teasingly and looked behind him, "Not busy?"
York nodded quickly, "Busy, but I have some gossip to share with you."
Hearing this, I closed my laptop and said, "Go ahead, I'm listening."
Seeing Helena give permission, York quickly said, "I heard Mr. Chase was taken away by the police."
I naturally knew all about this, but still asked, "What's the reaction at the company?"
"Big reaction - everyone's been talking about it all day."
"Helena, is there some inside story? Did Mr. Chase take bribes?"
Seeing York's curious expression, I picked up the pen beside me and tapped him on the head.
"Don't ask. Asking too much isn't good for you."
York covered his head and grinned, "I knew you wouldn't tell me."
"Alright, I have a task for you."
Seeing I had a task, York's expression became more serious, "Tell me."
I said, "Go investigate and see who Mr. Chase is close to in private."
"Yes!"
York saluted me, then grinned, "Will definitely complete the mission."
"Alright."
I smiled and waved him away, "Go get busy."
"Goodbye, Helena."
York waved and left.
Right after he left, someone knocked on my office door again.
"Come in!"
As my voice fell, the door opened again, and Serenity stood timidly at the doorway looking at me.
"Helena, I'm here."
I looked up, "Why are you here?"
She said, "Didn't you say I could come here to learn about company management from you?"
"Right, yes, that's true."
I pressed the intercom, and York quickly answered, "Helena, what can I do for you?"
"Come here for a moment."
"Yes!"
After hanging up, York quickly walked in.
"Helena, you wanted me?"
I nodded and pointed at Serenity, "Have her follow you and learn about sales."
Hearing this, York was stunned.
"But Helena, I'm about to go visit clients."
"That's even better - let her learn properly from you."
Hearing this, he immediately understood.
He smiled at Serenity, "Serenity, is it okay if I call you that?"
Serenity lifted her delicate face, "Of course."
"Then let's go."
York made a welcoming gesture to Serenity.
"Helena, we're leaving."
I could tell Serenity was quite satisfied with my arrangement.
After they left, I soon received a message from York on my phone.
"Helena, how should I treat Serenity?"
I replied, "Since she wants to experience it, let her experience how tough work can be."
"Got it!"
A saluting emoji popped up in the chat box, looking just as cheeky as York.
I smiled and put my phone aside, continuing to work. When I looked up again, it was already dark outside.
I had several missed calls on my phone - all from York and Serenity.
Looks like these two didn't get along too well.
I called York back, and as soon as he answered, I heard his wailing, "Helena, you finally saw my calls!"
I leaned back in my chair with a smile, "So, did you two have a good time together?"
"Oh my god, don't even mention it - Serenity nearly tortured me to death!"
Hearing York's exaggerated voice, I was even more curious, "What happened? Tell me the details."
York on the other end complained, "I'll tell you, but Helena, can you come pick me up? I haven't had a sip of water or a bite to eat all day. I'm exhausted, starving, and broke."
Hearing his miserable state, I couldn't help but laugh, "How did it get this bad?"
"I'll tell you when you get here."
Hearing his complaints, I laughed out loud, "Alright, alright, I'm coming now."
