Chapter 154 Chapter 154

Chapter 154 Chapter 154
Maxwell

I had just woken up from an evening nap when the door to my hospital room suddenly opened, I looked up and froze.

Camilla walked in wearing a nurse's uniform. Her hair was tucked beneath a surgical cap, and she looked completely disoriented, as if she had rushed there without thinking.

I immediately pushed myself into a sitting position. "What are you doing here?" I asked, my voice sharp. "How did you find me?"

She started walking toward my bed, I quickly raised my hand to stop her. "Don't."

She froze. "If you take one more step, I'm going to do something we will both regret. So stay where you are."

She stopped moving. A second later, her expression changed into the one I had seen countless times before. Her eyes filled with tears, her lips trembled, and she looked at me as though I had broken her heart. Then she started crying. Not long ago, that expression would have been enough to make me question myself but not anymore.

I have seen evidence and Everything pointed to the same conclusion, Camilla was the real liar. She was the one who had been manipulating me all this time, using me for reasons I still didn't fully understand.

"Max, please listen to me," she pleaded through her tears. "Everything I did was for your own good. I was trying to save you. I didn't give you those drugs to hurt you. I only wanted to help you get over Amelia."

I slowly closed my eyes and took a deep breath, she was still repeating the same story. Still insisting that Amelia was dead. When I opened my eyes again, I looked straight at her. "Enough with the drama, Camilla, I may have lost my memories, but I know one thing for certain. Amelia is alive." I held her gaze. "So tell me the truth. Why were you putting those drugs in my system? Why did you orchestrate all of this? The accident, the funeral, I was there. I saw everything happen, yet now I'm being told it was all a lie."

I shook my head, still unable to understand it. "How did you pull it off? What exactly did you do to me that made me forget my entire life? Why can I only remember the last two years?"

Camilla slowly shook her head. "I didn't do anything," she said softly. "I only saved you." As she spoke, she took another step toward my bed. "I love you, Max. I would never hurt you on purpose."

Anger exploded inside me, I threw the blanket aside, got out of the bed, and ripped the IV from the back of my hand without thinking. A sharp sting shot through my arm, but I barely felt it.

"I need you to start talking right now!" I barked. Camilla instinctively took a step backward. "What did you do to me?" I demanded. "You turned me into your puppet. You took control of my life. You kept me away from my wife and my children."

I couldn't stop. "While you were making me believe you were the only person I could trust, you were sleeping with another man behind my back." I stared directly into her eyes. "You got pregnant by him and tried to convince me that the child was mine."

The color drained from her face, her eyes widened so much they looked as if they would fall out of their sockets. "The... the baby is yours," she stammered.

Before she could move, I grabbed her wrist, I squeezed hard enough for my nails to dig into her skin. She winced in pain but I didn't let go. "Let me make something very clear," I said through clenched teeth. "I can't father children, I am infertile. I tightened my grip. "So there is no way that child belongs to me."

She froze, the fear on her face was unmistakable. "R-Really?" she whispered.

"How do you think I was able to figure out you were a fraud in the first place?" I shouted.

Before she could answer, the door flew open. A nurse rushed into the room, right behind her were Rafe and Amelia.

They both stopped in shock the moment they saw Camilla standing beside my bed.

"Mr. Sinclair, please sit down," the nurse said urgently.

"How the hell did you find him again?" Rafe shouted at Camilla.

I released her wrist and stepped back toward the bed.

"I tracked your call earlier," Camilla answered without taking her eyes off me. "Did you really think I was going to let you take my baby away from me?"

Before anyone else could react, Amelia walked straight toward her. The sound of the slap echoed through the room. "He isn't your baby," Amelia snapped. "He never was." Her voice trembled with anger. "What you had with Maxwell was nothing more than a fling, and he ended everything with you." She shook her head in disbelief. "You couldn't accept being rejected, so you went this far? You destroyed an entire family. You destroyed him."

Camilla slowly lifted her head. "Because I love him," she said. "And I'm not letting anyone take him away from me."

Rafe stepped forward, his expression cold. "If I were you," he said calmly, "I'd start looking for a very good lawyer." He folded his arms. "You are finished. The NYPD is already on you and every single person who helped you. They're downstairs right now, and every exit is covered."

His voice remained steady. "You are going down, Camilla. And not even your father's money is going to save you."

Camilla ignored him, she looked straight at me. "I know I made mistakes," she said, her voice breaking. "But please, just listen to me. Let me explain the things you don't understand. You can't trust them. They were after your life. They were working with your brother to take your company away from you."

"Just shut up already, you bitch," Amelia fired back.

"Maxwell knows the truth now. There's no point trying to manipulate him anymore." She pointed toward the door. "You are going to spend a very long time in prison."

Camilla let out a bitter laugh. "Fine," she said. "But if I'm going to jail, then your boyfriend Adrian and his father are coming with me." She looked directly at Amelia. "Because they are accomplices too."
