Chapter 69 Should I Stop?

Chapter 69 Should I Stop?
When Alpha Gideon arrived at the hospital, he went straight to his wife’s private room.
Luna Rosie was already wide awake, watching TV.
“I’m back, my love,” he said cheerfully, announcing his presence with a smile. He planted a kiss on her forehead and asked, “Have you eaten dinner already?”
“Yeah,” she whispered.
“How are you feeling now?” he asked, holding her hand.
“Fine,” she replied, smiling a bit.
“Do you want me to spend the night here with you?” he asked.
“Yes, please,” Luna Rosie whispered. She wanted to ask her husband why Lena is no longer reporting to her every hour but she was worried that he might find out that she asked Lena to be her spy.
“I’m going out to have a quick dinner outside then return here to spend the night with you. Will you be fine here alone, my love?” he asked.
She nodded her head. “Yes, go ahead.”
“OK. I’ll go now.” Alpha Gideon left the room to have dinner at the restaurant across the hospital.
After eating, he returned to the hospital and watched the evening news on TV together with his wife.
By 9:00 in the evening, Luna Rosie was already yawning, feeling sleepy. “I”m going to sleep. Good night,” she told her husband.
Alpha Gideon planted a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Sweet dreams, my love.”
“You too.” Luna Rosie slept early that night.
Alpha Gideon sat on the sofa bed, scrolled on his phone and chatted with his brothers in their chatroom, discussing their latest mission to uncover the leaders of the ruthless traffickers kidnapping young werewolves all over the city.
At 11:00 in the evening, Alpha Gideon and his brother stopped chatting and retired for the night.
He rose from the sofa, approached the bed and draped the blanket over his wife’s sleeping form. He stared at her bandaged face and sighed heavily. Not only did he feel sorry for his wife’s condition but he also felt guilty because he had already crossed the line, cheating on her with Mira, a sin very hard to stop.
He turned around and returned to the sofa bed to sleep through the night.
By 11:30, he finally drifted into a deep sleep.
…
The following day, Alpha Gideon woke up at 7:00 in the morning.
After one hour, the nurse arrived with food and medicine for Luna Rosie to take after she finished having breakfast.
Her breakfast consisted of porridge, only soft food was allowed for her to eat.
After giving instructions to the patient, the nurse left the room.
Alpha Gideon feeds his wife porridge and gives her medicine after she finishes eating her food.
“How’s your face?” he asked.
“Still numb with a little bit of pain,” she replied. “I’m taking pain killers and all, so yeah, I’m fine.”
Finished taking care of his wife, he finally said, “My love, I’m going home. I’ll come back later to see you, um, probably later in the afternoon.”
Luna Rosie nodded her head. “Please tell Lena to text me immediately," she said.
“OK. I will,” Alpha Gideon replied. He planted a kiss on her head. “I’m going now. Take care of yourself.”
“You too.” Luna Rosie nodded her head. “I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you too,” he responded by kissing her forehead. “I’m going now.”
“Bye.” Luna Rosie watched him leave the room. He is too calm and too sweet as if he is hiding something from her. She felt something was fishy about her husband. Her woman’s institution is strong, telling her something is wrong.
She reached for her phone and placed a call to Lena, but she received a system message saying the number she dialed is not in service.
What the hell?
What’s wrong with Lena’s number? Why can't she contact her now? And why is Lena not reporting to her every hour?
Anger quickly rose in her heart as she realized Lena was now openly disobeying her orders.
How dare she?
Just wait until she can finally leave the hospital and go home then that annoying maid of hers will face her fury.
She couldn't do anything because she just had surgery on her face that's why she was feeling helpless.
Every second that passed her anger intensified. She needed to do something to divert her anger so she grabbed the remote control and watched a travel documentary exploring the lost jungle in a remote village in Africa.
Thankfully the scene in the forest was breathtaking, leaving her in awe and her anger gradually subsided.
After a while, she realized that there must be a reason why she could no longer contact Lena’s number. The only explanation is that she probably changed her number and maybe Lena will send her a text message later to inform her about the number change.
All she ever wanted was to make sure that Mira and her husband were not secretly getting together while she was away. Every minute that she didn't receive any update regarding Mira and her husband’s activity inside the mansion, her mind was flooded with suspicions that the two were secretly seeing each other behind her back.
She just can’t shake that feeling of being betrayed by her husband.
Or maybe she was wrong, maybe it was just a product of her hyperactive imagination, originating from her suspicion.
She released a deep sigh.
She should just relax and focus on her health and recovery other than torturing herself with jealousy and baseless suspicion.
She was the only one who got affected by her simmering jealousy while Mira is worry free, sitting pretty like a princess, taking advantage of her body.
GRRR!
So damn annoying!
Sigh, her anger had started again. She should stop thinking about Mira to avoid pissing herself.
She watched another reality show about aspiring models carving their path in the modeling world.
The show was entertaining to watch, loaded with dramatic and emotional meltdowns between contestants. Surprisingly, her anger completely evaporated after the show ended.
Half an hour later.
Dr. Smith entered the room, smiling brightly. “How are you today, dear?” she asked her patient.
Luna Rosie responded, “I’m feeling fine, doc.”
“Good.” Dr. Smith was pleased with Mira’s reply. They chatted for a while.
After they finished chatting, the surgeon left the room and Luna Rosie was alone again, watching a random show on TV.
…
Back in the royal mansion.
After lunch, the two women finished packing everything up.
They are waiting for Alpha Gideon to come to the room so they can finally go to the bungalow house.
Mira studied Lena’s face. “Have you already changed your number?” she asked.
“Yup, done.” Lena nodded her head.
“Good,” Mira said, a smile curled up between the corners of her lips.
Lena saw Mira’s reaction, and she shook her head.
Mira’s brows drew together. “What’s wrong, Lena?”
“I noticed that you and Alpha Gideon are getting closer to each other,” Lena commented casually.
“Yup, that’s true.” Mira finally admitted the truth because she could no longer hide her blooming relationship with Alpha Gideon.
“I just want to remind you of this...you might be occupying Luna Rosie’s body today but she is still alive. You have no idea how she will react after she learns the painful truth. She has a nasty temper if she is angry. She might hurt you again. So be careful with your actions from now on,” Lena warned her in a serious tone.
Mira heaved a sigh. “I know. But what can I do? Alpha Gideon is the one who wants to get close to me. I didn't come to him. He came to me. It’s not my fault that he wants to have a relationship with me. I can’t defy him, I can only obey him. Why would I be the one who is always on the wrong side? Why would I be blamed for everything?” She lamented, her voice filled with frustration.
Lena patted Mira’s shoulder gently, comforting her. “I understand how you feel. Your situation is difficult indeed. Sometimes I'm worried because all these might end up in a tragedy one day,” she said worriedly.
“Hopefully not,” Mira shuddered, remembering too well how easy it is for the lioness to hurt her physically without guilt and remorse. All she ever wanted was to keep loving Alpha Gideon in peace.
Now that he was actively pursuing her, she hoped Luna Rosie could finally accept in her heart that she is now part of their lives. The sooner she realizes that, the better it is for their mental health.
“I’m going down to the kitchen to say goodbye to the cook,” Lena said.
“OK, go ahead.” Mira nodded her head.
The moment Lena was gone from the room, Mira looked at the snake behind her. “Come on, Brownie. We are going to relocate to our new home today. You will come with me, okay?”
The snake nodded its head.
Amused, Mira smiled and placed the snake on her lap. “My future finally looks brighter now, Brownie. I hope Alpha Gideon will continue to love me and he will never change. I hope Luna Rosie will accept me one day. I hope they can’t find a shaman who can perform a soul swap ‘coz I’m now enjoying Luna Rosie’s body because of Alpha Gideon's attention. He was now showering with love and attention. I don't want this wonderful feeling to end. I want him to continue loving me forever,” she said wistfully, feeling emotional all of a sudden.
After a few minutes of musing, she finally placed Brownie in a bag. “Stay in this bag because we are leaving soon. Don’t come out until we reach the bungalow house. Do you understand?"
The snake nodded its head and sank deeper into the bag.
“Good,” Mira said, patting her pet’s head in amusement.
A few minutes later, Lena returned to the room and placed the bags near the door. “I met Alpha Gideon in the hallways. He instructed me to bring the bags downstairs,” she said.
“I’ll help you,” Mira offered.
“No. Just bring your bag with you. You are pregnant, you can’t lift heavy things. Come with me downstairs and you can stay in the living room,” Lena said, grabbing one bag and exiting the room.
“Let’s go Brownie.” Mira picked up the bag containing her pet snake and followed Lena downstairs.
Mira met Alpha Gideon in the living room and together they got into the car waiting in the driveway. They were engulfed in comfortable silence.
After Lena finished putting the bags in the car’s trunk, Alpha Gideon started the engine and drove in the direction of the bungalow house.
A few moments later, they finally arrived at their destination.
Alpha Gideon helped Lena with the bags and put them in the living room of the bungalow house.
After all the bags were taken out of his car, he grabbed a brown bag and talked to Mira while Lena was putting the bags in the bedroom. “Babe, I’m leaving now. But before I left I bought you a new phone so you can contact me anytime. I already added my number to your contacts." He removed the box from the bag and handed it to her. “I gotta go. See you tonight or tomorrow. It depends on my work schedule this afternoon,” he said and planted a kiss on her head.
“Thanks for the new phone, babe. I appreciate it very much. I will text you later. Take care,” she said, smiling brightly, thankful for his gift.
He left her side and walked back to his car.
Alpha Gideon slid into the driver seat and started the engine. He smiled and waved Mira goodbye, then drove back to the mansion.
