Chapter 45 Surprise!
When Luna Rosie returned to her room, Mira was still wide awake. “Why are you still awake?” she asked.
“I’m waiting for you,” Mira replied.
“Why? What do you want?” Luna Rosie asked.
“I’m wondering the answer to this question. If the servants ask me why I’m staying in the bungalow house alone, what answer should I give them? Should I tell them that my husband and I are divorcing? Why don’t you tell me what to say to them so I won’t anger you?" Mira said.
“Why are you bringing this now?” Luna Rosie asked irritably.
“Because you told me that starting tomorrow I would live in the bungalow house. I will meet more staff soon, and our answers should be the same to each other. They will get confused if we give them different answers,” Mira stated. She just wanted to be on the safe side.
“I will consult my husband about your question tomorrow. Go to sleep,” Luna Rosie ordered, heading to the bathroom.
“OK. Goodnight,” Mira replied and closed her eyes to sleep. Now that Alpha Gideon finally knows about the soul swap she can finally move on forward with a clear conscience. She will focus on her pregnancy and get well emotionally. She’s excited to give birth to Luna Rosie’s baby and leave the mansion for good and start anew.
Tomorrow after she relocated into the bungalow house, her healing will start. She will start forgetting about her romantic feelings towards Alpha Gideon. He belongs to his wife and an unborn child. It’s just unfortunate that the soul swap happened and she was caught up in the couple’s lives. “Dear God, I’m ready to move on from this fantasy you created for me. Thank you for the fantastic experience. I’m sorry that my inner wish was the reason this soul swap took place. Can you please undo the soul switch now? Please?” she begged.
She waited for a miracle to happen, but unfortunately, nothing happened.
She finally closed her eyes to sleep. Maybe tomorrow when she wakes up in the morning, she and Luna Rosie have switched souls already. Hopefully so.
Twenty minutes later, Mira finally fell into a deep sleep.
Luna Rosie emerged from the bathroom door feeling refreshed. She walked to the bed and saw Mira already sleeping soundly. She went to the dressing table, brushed her hair and donned her pajamas afterwards.
She was standing beside the bed, staring at Mira’s face which used to be hers. Then she remembered what her husband told her about putting Mira in the room beside her room. She doesn't like his plan at all. She must think of another valid reason why Mira can’t stay in the mansion anymore.
She started yawning and finally lay down on the bed, getting ready to sleep.
Outside the closed window, the snake was slithering around the wall, heading for the window. The moment it reached the closed window, it slithered back down and hid among the thick plants in the garden.

The following day, the women woke up to a beautiful sunny morning.
“Good Morning,” Mira greeted her companion cheerily.
Luna Rosie ignored her greetings and got off the bed.
Mira sighed. She also left the bed to start her day.
A few moments later, Luna Rosie said, “Do you want to have your breakfast here or in the dining room downstairs?” she asked.
“I want to have breakfast here,” Mira said, feeling lazy and lethargic and didn't want to leave the room anytime soon.
“OK, just wait here, I’ll get our breakfast from the kitchen.” Luna Rosie left the room.
While waiting for Luna Rosie to return with food, Mira checked her bags. All the clothes and stuff inside were Luna Rosie’s belongings. Even her body, her face and the baby growing inside her tummy were hers.
She has nothing to her name, only an ugly face laden with scars. Sigh. What a pathetic life she had.
But despite everything, she was able to enjoy her pampered life for a short time.
The soul swap was so bizarre. Until now she sometimes thought that she was in some kind of fantasy dream and when she wakes up tomorrow, she will be back to her old life.
A few minutes later, Luna Rosie returned with a tray laden with delicious food. They ate their meal in silence.
After they finished eating, Mira asked, “What time will I go to the bungalow house today?”
“I’m not sure yet, but something has come up. There will be changes to your living arrangements I think,” Luna Rosie said grimly.
Mira’s forehead furrowed. “Huh? But why?”
Luna Rosie stood up. “Follow me downstairs. The Alpha King and Queen are already waiting for us. They want to hear from both of us the truth. My husband already told them everything but they still insist on hearing the truth from our mouths."
Mira froze. She was terrified of meeting the royal couple. She feels guilty that she has hidden the truth after she wakes up from death.
Luna Rosie noticed the color draining from Mira’s face. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling dizzy?”
“Yeah, a little bit, must be related to the pregnancy symptoms I experienced lately,” Mira replied.
“Oh, if you are feeling dizzy…I will just go downstairs and inform them that you are not feeling well today,” Luna Rosie said anxiously, worrying about the well-being of her unborn child.
“No, it's fine. We should meet the royal couple together. Let’s do it today so we all can move on from this stressful situation,” Mira said thoughtfully.
“Are you sure?” Luna Rosie asked. “We can postpone it this afternoon or in the evening so you can take a rest first before meeting them,” she suggested in good faith.
Mira shook her head. “Nah, I’m fine now. Just a little bit dizzy. I will have a long rest after we finish talking to the royal couple,” she said in a determined tone, eager to put an end to her mental anguish today.
“Alright then, let’s go,” Luna Rosie said, on high alert just in case Mira needed assistance. “If you feel dizzy, tell me right away. OK?”
“Alrighty,” Mira responded calmly.
The women left the room and went downstairs to meet the royal couple.
When they arrived at the room, only three people were waiting for them inside. The royal couple and Alpha Gideon.
Mira and Luna Rosie bowed their heads in respect for the royal couple. “Good morning, Alpha King and Luna Queen,” they said in chorus.
The older couple nodded their heads.
“Have a seat girls,” Luna Queen Rebecca said, pointing to the chairs near the bed.
After the girls were seated comfortably in the chairs, Alpha King Samuel began his investigation.
“Mira, is the soul swap true?” Alpha King Samuel asked Mira.
Mira nodded her head. “Yes, the soul swap is true, your highness.”
“But why didn't you tell us right away after you woke up from death? Why did you claim you lost your memories and couldn't remember anything about your life?” Alpha King Samuel asked sharply.
Mira trembled in fear. "B-Because I’m confused about what’s going on. I’m confused about why I ended up in Luna Rosie’s body. Waking up inside another woman's body was a horrifying and shocking experience for me. I just didn't know what to do at that time. I decided to just keep my mouth shut and not talk much because I’m still trying to sort out my emotions and trying to deal with the confusing incident. So in order to give me more time to adjust to my current life I decided to act like I had memory loss. I’m very sorry for pretending, I’m just confused about what to do with my current situation,” she said dejectedly, feeling ashamed and guilty for her dubious action of deceiving the royal family, especially Alpha Gideon.
Luna Queen Rebecca noticed the distress on Mira’s face. “Husband, stop asking too many questions. Mira is pregnant. It's not good for her health. We shouldn't put all the blame on her. The soul swap cannot be done by an ordinary human being. It’s done by the Moon Goddess herself or some divine entity we don’t know about. Let’s just make the best of the situation they have given us,” she said softly.
Alpha King Samuel released a deep sigh. “You are right, Mira and Luna Rosie were just victims of some unseen forces lurking in the dark. But this unfortunate incident truly sucks, especially that it happened to our daughter-in-law,” he said in a concerned tone.
“I know. But although the situation looks impossible to find a solution to, there are still several options to choose from. One thing is for sure, we can’t announce to the world that a soul swap has happened between Mira and Luna Rosie. This incident, so strange and absurd, once exposed, will bring us trouble. We need to keep this situation a secret for now. Let’s find a quick solution to this problem," Luna Queen Rebecca said anxiously.
Heavy silence descended on the room.
Mira felt relieved that the Alpha King had stopped asking her questions. She was literally shaking in fear as anxiety gripped her heart. She glanced at Alpha Gideon. Oh no, he was watching her!
Was he observing her reactions the whole time his parents were interrogating her?
She suddenly felt anxious.
She wanted the ground to open up under her feet and be swallowed by it.
Luna Queen Rebecca and Alpha Gideon looked at each other.
Luna Rosie saw the mother and son’s silent interaction with each other as if they were communicating through a mind link. What are they talking about?
Luna Queen Rebecca took a deep breath and said, “To hide this soul swap incident, I suggest my son marry Mira the maid as his second wife. This is the best solution for all parties involved.”
The life-altering suggestion took Luna Rosie and Mira by surprise. Their eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
