Chapter 22 State Of Confusion
“We’re going shopping tomorrow,” Luna Rosie said casually.
“Why? You have so many clothes already. What is there to buy?” Mira asked, raising a brow.
“I don’t want to see you wearing my clothes and undies. We have to buy your own clothes,” Luna Rosie replied. “But you can keep wearing my maternity clothes. I don’t need them anymore.”
Mira sighed. She is not in the mood to go shopping in her current condition. “I don’t like going out tomorrow. You go alone and shop till you drop.”
Mira is so annoyingly dumb! Luna Rosie snapped angrily. “Are you stupid? I can’t go shopping alone. They will not allow me. We need to go together.”
Mira rolled her eyes. “Calm down, you don’t have to be angry all the time. Just explain everything to me in a gentle tone. I’m not mute and dumb. You don’t have to shout. I have to remind you that constant anger will only make you more sad and miserable.”
“Easy for you to say that!” Luna Rosie’s eyes blazed in fury. “I can’t help it. I’m not always like this. Looking at you right now occupying my body makes my blood boil. You are the reason why I turn into a moody woman. If you didn't steal my body and my life, I would never have become like this. This is all your fault! I hope lightning strikes you, killing you instantly!” she howled in anger.
Mira trembled, shaken by the intensity of Luna Rosie’s anger aimed towards her.
Luna Rosie continued ranting and whining. “You have no idea how I feel after waking up in another woman’s body, and my body was occupied by another soul. So terrifying and so confusing, I thought I would go crazy. You didn't feel the sorrow and stress that I went through because you liked my life and everything that came with it. But what about me? I don’t like your body or your life at all! I never wished to live your life as a servant. This is so unfair!”
Mira swallowed the lump forming on her throat. For a brief moment she pitied Luna Rosie, worsening the mounting guilt she felt inside.
Luna Rosie cannot bear the stress anymore. She breaks down in tears, sobbing uncontrollably.
Mira gently patted the sobbing woman's arms, consoling her. “I’m so sorry…”
“Don’t touch me!” Luna Rosie rejected Mira’s act of sympathy. She faced the wall and continued to weep hard.
Stung by Luna Rosie’s rejection of her sincere sympathy, Mira could only stare at the ceiling. Tears shone in her eyes, as guilt swallowed her whole.
It turns out her happiness was short-lived. She was never meant to enjoy her life as Alpha Gideon’s wife for too long because guilt wouldn't allow her.
Her being reborn was a mistake. Sebastian is right.
Where is that mysterious shaman right now? Why didn't he visit her anymore? Sigh. He was a busy guy, maybe he had already forgotten about her.
She took a deep breath and listened to Luna Rosie’s pitiful cry. Consoling the distraught woman was useless. The best thing to do is shut her mouth and mind her own business.
She faces the wall, shutting her eyes, trying to sleep. But no matter how hard she tries, she can’t force herself to sleep because Luna Rosie's loud crying keeps her awake. She was guilty because she was the reason why another being was suffering miserably because of the soul switch. It looks like her deepest wish to be happy has become someone else's misery.
It was already 9:30 in the evening when Luna Rosie finally stopped crying.
Finally! Mira breathed in relief.
Why can’t she be happy without anyone suffering because of it?
Does that mean she doesn't deserve to be happy in this lifetime?
Maybe she needs to be reborn into a baby’s body and start a new life from scratch.
She bit her lip in frustration.
Enough! Blaming herself doesn't change anything.
If Sebastian comes to see her again, maybe she should just agree to her soul being transferred into anyone’s body.
She closed her eyes, feeling so tired thinking about her situation.
She needed to sleep early and take care of her health because she was pregnant. Thinking about the unborn child growing in her tummy calmed her turbulent emotions. A few minutes later, she finally drifted into a deep slumber.
Mira was already sleeping soundly but Luna Rosie was still wide awake, listening to the soft snoring of her companion on the bed. She got up from the bed and stood up, facing Mira. Her eyes gleamed murderously, wanting to throttle the woman who stole her life.
“Impostor! Body snatcher!” Luna Rosie hissed over and over again, her eyes flashing with anger. The desire to kill the servant who made her life miserable was getting stronger in her heart.
She walked to the dresser table, opened the drawer and picked up the scissors. She returned to the bed and stared angrily at the impostor’s face, wanting to slit Mira’s throat for revenge.
She had never killed anyone in her life before. Can she kill someone now?
Does she have the strength to kill her own body and her unborn child?
Those questions stopped her evil thoughts from flourishing. She would like to kill Mira’s soul, not her body. But even if she successfully kills Mira’s soul she doesn't know how to return to her own body.
Without Mira’s soul occupying her body, her body would start to die along with her unborn child. Killing her body also means killing her unborn child.
Although the golden opportunity to get her revenge has already presented itself, she can’t kill her own body.
Grrr! So annoying!
She feels helpless because she can’t do anything to restore her life. Right now she is at the mercy of destiny.
“I hate you, Mira! May your soul rot in hell for making my life miserable!” she said softly, cursing Mira over and over again.
Damn, she can’t continue acting this way. Getting angry all the time is mentally and emotionally draining.
She took deep breaths to curve her anger. She can’t go to sleep if she is angry. She needs to calm down.
She began pacing back and forth in the middle of the room to let the steam of anger evaporate from her system, allowing calmness to take over her senses.
After successfully calming herself, Luna Rosie finally gets back into bed and shuts her eyes to sleep.
Twenty minutes later, she drifted into a deep slumber, dreaming of her husband being killed on the battlefield.
While the two women were in a deep sleep, the window suddenly opened, and the swirling mist entered the room, slowly taking shape into Sebastian's form.
His forehead creased as he stared at the faces of the two women lying beside each other on the bed.
Such a perfect opportunity to correct a mistake!
Should he perform the soul switch now?
