Chapter 12 Deal Or No Deal?
“If I answer all your questions today would you be willing to leave Luna Rosie’s body?” Sebastian asked.
Mira was taken aback by his question. “W-what? You want to blackmail me with the truth so I can leave this body willingly? No way!” she replied icily.
Sebastian groaned in annoyance. “You are really making things difficult for both of us, princess," he said cryptically.
She shrugged. “Even though you are talking about riddles I have a full grasp of what’s going on. Do you know what I thought about the whole thing?”
Sebastian folded his arms. “Really? You are trying to act smart eh? So tell me what actually happened?”
Mira smiled. “I think you have messed up big time. The soul switch between Luna Rosie and me was never meant to happen. I think your superiors would punish you because of your mistake. Am I right?” she asked cheekily.
“Wrong!” Sebastian smirked. “God, how I love to wipe that smile from your lips once you know the truth, princess.”
Mira’s brows furrowed. Her frown deepened. “W-what do you mean?”
Sebastian heaved a sigh. “You are the one who made a very big mistake here. I’m just trying to clean up the big mess you created," he whispered accusingly.
Mira was even more confused. Her brain was bleeding more than ever before. “I don’t understand what you are trying to say to me. H-how can I make such a big mistake? How can a mere servant tamper with the thread of destiny? I don’t even have the power to help myself after suffering for many years. I'm not capable of switching two souls. So don’t blame me for your mistake. I don’t even know you.”
Sebastian tugged at her hair playfully. “Of course you don’t. You are in a state of denial and forgetfulness. You lost a big chunk of your memory because of your own carelessness, which is why you don’t know me anymore. Now you left me alone to deal with your mistake!”
His outrageous claim gave Mira an instant headache. “What do you mean? I lost a big chunk of my memory? My memory is intact. My name is Mira. I am a human orphan who suffered a lot of abuse in my life and died in my bed alone and lonely in the servants' quarters. Then I was reborn in Luna Rosie’s body. So how can you say I forgot everything?”
Sebastian’s mouth twitched in dismay. “Damn. Enough of your scheming. Why am I wasting my time trying to help you?” He sighed softly.
“You are certainly lying to me, Sebastian. Please don’t confuse me. I know who I am. You can’t fool me!” Mira said with a smile.
“OK fine. I’m done playing mind games with you. Can you just agree to leave Luna Rosie’s body now?” he said impatiently.
“No. But if you agree to help me dispose of Luna Rosie’s soul so she stops pestering me then I’m willing to compromise with you,” Mira said in desperation.
Sebastian fell silent for a few seconds then he finally said, “State your deal, princess. I’m listening…”
“Help me get rid of Luna Rosie’s soul so that I can enjoy her life to the fullest. Afterward, I’m ready to obey your order. I don’t care if I only be able to enjoy two years of happiness with my beloved Alpha Gideon. I don’t care if I don’t get to be reborn again in the future. As long as I can be happy with my husband even for a short time, it's all worth it.”
Sebastian looked at her despondently, sadness flashing in his eyes. “So, is this what you truly want?”
“Absolutely!” Mira replied positively.
“Alright, I will give you two years of pure happiness and bliss with the man you love. But afterward, your soul is mine to deal with as I wish. Deal or no deal?”
“Deal!” Mira responded quickly, surprised that he agreed with her wishes instantly.
“Are you sure about your decision? Once you agree to this deal you created yourself there will be no turning back,” Sebastian said, his eyes gleaming victoriously.
“My decision is final. If I can be truly happy with Alpha Gideon’s side for two years then so be it. Even if the entire universe burns to ashes afterwards I don’t care. The rest doesn’t matter anymore,” Mira said, smiling brightly.
“How about me? I don’t matter to you anymore?” Sebastian asked. His eyes turned to a different shade of light blue and she saw a different world flashing in his eyes.
She blinks twice and glares at him, annoyed. “Stop confusing me, Sebastian! Stop playing with my mind. I don’t know you. We don’t know each other. But despite everything I would like to thank you for making the mistake that resulted in me switching souls with Luna Rosie. If the mistake hadn't happened I wouldn't be able to live the life I’ve been dreaming of. I owe you one. In my next life I hope I can repay you. So thank you so much for giving me the chance to enjoy my life in this current lifetime.”
Sebastian released a deep sigh. “You did it again, princess, and this time you really broke my heart to pieces…” he said sadly, very much disappointed in her decision.
Mira looked at him in bafflement, surprised by the degree of pain flickering in his eyes. Why does this mysterious shaman keep telling her about something she can’t remember?
“Fine.” She breathed deeply. “I’m tired of hearing your cryptic words, Sebastian. Instead of feeding puzzles into my head, why don’t you tell me who you are in my life? Who am I to you? Let’s get this over with…” she said, challenging him to reveal everything.
“If I told you the truth, would you leave your beloved Alpha Gideon and end this madness now?” Sebastian asked, peering deep into her soul.
Mira froze as she met his hypnotizing gaze. Her mind was racing with a thousand thoughts. C-could she be living a lie the whole time?
“Learning the truth is your only out princess. I dare you to hear the truth now!” Sebastian ordered. His voice echoing around the room, penetrating her soul.
As the mystery of her existence deepens, Mira has no choice but to face the truth. “Alright, tell me the truth now! Tell me everything!” she said bravely.
Sebastian closed the distance between them and whispered the words she wanted to hear...
No way! Mira froze after hearing the truth. Color drained from her face. Strength left her body and she fainted in his arms.
Sebastian sighed. “As expected of you princess, always denying the inevitable and always escaping. But one day you will have to face the truth and stop messing around once and for all.”
Damn! He wasn’t supposed to tell her everything in this lifetime but she irked him and he lost control.
He lifted her unconscious body, placed her gently on the bed and covered her with a blanket. Then he placed his palm on her head. A bright neon light emerged from his palm, erasing the entire conversation they had today from her memory.
By the time she wakes up from her sleep she can’t remember anything.
He heard footsteps approaching the room. Time to go!
He looked at her face for the last time and said, “Time for me to go, princess. Till we meet again.”
Sebastian transformed into a mist and floated out of the window.
The door opened and Alpha Gideon entered the room. He moved towards the bed and looked at his wife’s face lovingly. He caressed her baby bump and whispered, “Sleep well my love, stay safe and healthy for our baby.”
He left the room again to prepare for the incoming war.
After Alpha Gideon left the room, Lena entered the room and did some cleaning while Luna Rosie was sleeping on the bed.
Lena was wiping dust off the furniture when she heard a soft knock on the door. She opened the door.
Outside the door, Mira stood holding a basket filled with fresh laundered clothes. Her face was covered with a veil to hide her ugly face.
“Lena, I came here because Roda had a high fever. I was assigned to do this chore today,” Mira lied.
“OK, bring it in, but be quiet because Luna Rosie was sleeping,” Lena replied, opening the door wide for the servant to enter.
“Copy.” Mira smirked. “By the way, the cook told me to ask you what ingredients Luna Rosie wanted to be included in the chicken soup.”
“Ah, okay. I’ll go to the kitchen and tell the cook myself,” Lena said and left the room.
Mira smiled and quickly locked the door, making sure no one could enter the room while she was busy searching for her phone.
Luna Rosie put the basket on the floor, went to bed and looked at her body. “I see you are sleeping soundly. Mira. Keep sleeping, don’t wake up yet,” she said, smiling.
She quickly went to the dresser table and opened the drawers to look for her phone and charger. She found them in one of the drawers. She quickly put the mobile device and charger inside the pocket of her servant uniform to hide it.
She found her wallet and took some cash. Damn, stealing from her own wallet felt surreal.
Then she stood in the middle of her room thinking about what else she needed to do? She hurriedly went to the door and unlocked it thinking Lena might return any minute now.
Before she could think of her next move, the door opened and Lena entered the room.
“Why are you still standing there?” Lena asked, glancing at the basket filled with clothes.
Luna Rosie scratched her head. “Um, I don't know where to put these clothes, so I wait for your return to ask you,” she replied calmly.
“Just put all the clothes on the sofa and you may leave the room,” Lena ordered.
Luan Rosie quickly removed all the clothes from the basket and dumped them on the sofa and left the room quietly. Outside, she walked in the hallway, wearing a bright smile on her face, feeling triumphant.
Now that she's finally gotten hold of her phone, it’s time to expose the impostor who stole her body.
She will make sure Mira gets punished severely for messing up her life!
