Chapter 57 New plans
Chapter 57 New plans
Colton's POV
I raced as fast as I could to my house.
This couldn't be happening. We'd made sure that plane was tampered with. When Wade told us Richard would be boarding the VIP plane, I knew how much I'd sacrificed to make this work. And now he'd escaped again?
I reached my house and saw Kylie still celebrating.
"Come, baby, let's celebrate our victory. I wonder about the pain in Jocelyn's eyes when she saw the news," she said drunkenly.
I threw the bottle of champagne angrily on the floor and it shattered to pieces.
Shocked, she turned off the music and walked towards me.
"What's wrong, baby?"
"What's wrong? What's wrong is that Richard is alive!" I yelled.
"What?" she exclaimed.
"When I went there, they were all mourning, and all of a sudden, Wade came up and brought information that he's alive."
"Wade?"
"Yes, him! And the funny part is that Wade looked so unaware of the plan that he played along with them."
"It's not possible. Wade's not playing us. Maybe he was trying to be unsuspicious," Kylie said.
"Kylie! I know what I saw. This is just too much for me," I said, collapsing into my chair.
"Maybe... maybe I should forget about it all," I said with a shaky voice.
"What do you mean? We can't relent. Not now!" she yelled.
She hesitated for a moment, then said, "Baby, you have me. You don't have to worry. We always come up with a backup plan."
"We've tried countless times! How sure are you that this time would make a difference?" I asked.
"Baby, we still have the upcoming anniversary. Even if we can't afford to eliminate him, we could blackmail him and render that paternity test useless."
"How?"
"I have two professional friends. One's gay and the other's straight. We're going to question his sexuality that night and use it against him."
"Are we informing Wade?"
"No. He might be the rat that rang the bell, so it's best we keep him unaware," she said.
"But I was suspended from the company," I said.
"You don't have to worry about it. All you need to do is show up," she said.
Then suddenly, Wade called.
"Everything didn't go as planned. I tried, but it didn't work," he said.
"Are you sure you tried?" I asked.
"Are you doubting my words?" he asked, his voice hardening.
"No, absolutely not."
"Good. So what's the next plan?"
"Nothing. I have nothing," I said.
"Okay then. Don't hesitate to call me when you come up with a plan," he said and ended the call.
"We're not calling him. Safety measures," Kylie said, crossing over to me.
"I can't wait for the anniversary," she said with a wicked smile.
