Chapter 270: A Long-Unseen Person Appears
"Did you get the stuff?"
As soon as Daniel arrived at the hotel, he arranged for someone to coordinate with Matilda to deliver the medicinal herbs to Emily's room.
He then called Emily and asked right away.
"Got it. They'll definitely make a move next, so just sit back and wait for them to walk into the trap. I'll get the antidote ready for you as fast as I can."
"No rush. You're not feeling well, so take care of yourself first. I'll send two more people over to protect you!"
Daniel was still somewhat worried and made the suggestion.
"I'm a doctor - I know my own condition. Plus, I have a friend with me who's skilled in medicine and trustworthy. As for sending people, no need. More people will just make it easier to be exposed!"
Emily declined Daniel's suggestion, hung up the phone, and threw herself completely into making the medicine.
Wren stayed by Emily's side, partly worried about Emily's health, so she did everything she could to help.
On the other hand, she could also watch Emily's medicine-making techniques. Emily knew Wren was eager to learn and was happy to teach her.
While Emily focused on making the medicine.
Night fell.
Danger was approaching bit by bit.
Daniel didn't sleep either - he just sat on the sofa waiting for someone to show up.
Several people came, some disguised as cleaning staff, some pretending to be from the front desk, saying someone had reported a water leak and they had to come check.
The hotel's surveillance system was also "breached" by them. After confirming which room Daniel was in and the room he had originally booked for Emily, they came knocking.
Of course, Daniel had deliberately let them hack in.
Otherwise, with his skills, they wouldn't have been able to find anything.
That's right.
This hotel property actually belonged to Daniel, not under the Smith Group.
So very few people knew about it.
The other party probably wouldn't have guessed that despite the Smith Group's huge business empire, Daniel had once ventured out on his own and built up an enterprise almost as big as the King Group.
When they were caught, they were completely confused.
It wasn't until all of them were thrown in front of Daniel together.
Seeing Daniel sitting calmly on the sofa with natural authority, they realized they'd been tricked.
"Talk. Who sent you? Where are they now?"
Daniel leaned lazily on the sofa, his eyes sweeping lightly over their faces, while Oliver naturally took over the interrogation.
But these people still played tough. "We're hotel staff. What are you trying to do? Let us go right now. The hotel will notice we're missing soon and will definitely report it to law enforcement!"
Daniel looked mockingly at the one who spoke. "My patience is limited. If you don't talk now, when we get to another place later, whether I'm willing to listen is another question even if you want to talk!"
His casual threatening words sent a chill down their spines.
One of them, a woman dressed as cleaning staff, couldn't hold back and replied, "It's not that we don't want to answer - we don't dare! If we talk, what awaits us is a fate worse than death. Please, seeing as we haven't caused any harm, just let us go!"
Daniel said nothing.
Oliver and the others couldn't help but laugh.
Oliver spoke up, "What kind of joke is that! This isn't a charity. If you don't talk, you might face something even worse than death. Why don't you tell us first - why would it be worse than death? What methods would they use against you?"
Those who came out of Dark Order had seen the cruelest tortures from various organizations. From the torture methods, they might be able to determine which organization they came from, then follow that lead.
"Poison. We've all been poisoned. This poison doesn't kill you right away - it's like being bitten by thousands of insects. It's almost time for our antidote dose. If we can't get back in time and don't get the antidote, we'll really suffer unbearably."
Poison!
Daniel didn't know much about it, but perhaps Emily would.
However, she was injured now, and according to what these people said, without the monthly antidote dose, it would kick in soon, but one missed dose probably wouldn't be fatal yet, so there was no rush to have Emily deal with it immediately.
"Take them back to Dark Order. Get what I want out of them!"
"Yes!"
Oliver didn't give them any chance to struggle or speak. He knocked them out and took them away.
After getting what they wanted, these people would probably end up with law enforcement.
After Daniel dealt with these people.
He asked Matilda about Emily's situation, worried.
"Ms. Johnson is still working with Ms. Kelly on making the medicine."
Matilda reported truthfully.
Daniel frowned. "How is Emily's condition? Find a way to get her to rest. The medicine isn't urgent!"
Seeming worried Emily wouldn't listen.
Daniel added, "Tell her the people have been caught and it's safe for now. If she doesn't listen, I'll come to her room right now."
"Yes!"
After Matilda agreed, she went to tell Emily as Daniel requested.
With Wren also persuading her, Emily had no choice but to obediently go to sleep.
Her face was already pale at this point.
Seriously injured, she should have been resting well, but instead she'd been traveling around exhausted and spending energy making medicine - how could it not affect her health?
Fortunately, she listened this time, or she might have collapsed.
Matilda completed her task and reported truthfully to Daniel.
Hearing that Emily had finally gone to rest obediently, Daniel finally felt relieved and went back to his room to sleep.
This night was finally a night when both Daniel and Emily could sleep peacefully after so long.
Compared to their peaceful rest.
Bianca, who had just landed abroad, was radiating resentment all over.
She dragged her exhausted body, with no one to pick her up, and took a taxi to the hotel full of complaints.
After getting off the plane, she turned on her phone.
Only then did she discover several missed calls.
Seeing the caller's name, some of her gloom lifted. She sat up straight and called back.
"Bianca, you finally called me back. I was so worried about you. Where are you now?"
As soon as the call connected, the other side picked up immediately.
Hearing that familiar yet somewhat distant voice, and being in a foreign country, Bianca's nose tingled and her voice took on a crying tone.
"Finn, I miss you so much. You finally called me."
If there was one person in the family who loved and trusted her the most, it was naturally Finn, who was close to her in age.
Finn had been in closed training these past days. Before he left, he had told his family, especially Bianca.
When the family couldn't reach him, they weren't too worried.
Finn understood Bianca well. Hearing the crying tone in her voice and that aggrieved emphasis, his heart immediately ached.
"Bianca, don't cry. I miss you too. Tell me, did someone bully you and make you feel wronged? I'll definitely help you!"
Finn was the most wild and unrestrained.
You could tell from his hobbies.
Racing, gaming, rock climbing, skiing, etc.
All high-adrenaline activities.
Bianca really felt sad and wronged, which is why Finn could sense it so clearly.
She still knew how to play the victim as always. "No one bullied me. I made mistakes myself and deserve to be punished by being exiled abroad!"
She sure knew how to choose her words. Exiled - didn't that make it clear she'd been wronged?
