Chapter 182: The Patient to be Treated is Him?
"Hey, Bianca, how's it going?"
Bianca was already in the car, heading back to the Johnson Villa.
The Johnson family couldn't wait to call and ask about the situation.
Bianca felt irritated but had to keep her tone sweet. "James is out of the country, so I reached out to Mr. Smith. He promised to find someone to help. I need to meet that person first."
Originally, she planned to tell Eli about Knox. But then she thought it might be better to get close to Knox first; he could be useful in the future. Her family was selfish and cared only about their interests, so she had to keep some cards up her sleeve. Otherwise, she might end up as a sacrificial lamb one day.
"Good, good. I knew you were reliable, Bianca. You can really help the family," Eli said, repeating "good" several times, finally relieved.
Bianca smirked sarcastically, about to speak when suddenly there was a loud crash. A large truck collided with her car, and the impact made her feel a sharp pain in her lower abdomen. Instinctively, she placed her hand on her belly. Something was coming out, and in her dizziness, she touched it—blood.
"No, my baby..."
Her face turned pale, panic setting in, but the dizziness overwhelmed her. Bianca didn't even have time to call for help before she passed out.
When she opened her eyes again, she saw a white ceiling and clean sheets. Realizing she was in a hospital, her first reaction was to touch her belly. "My baby, where's my baby..."
A nurse rushed in upon hearing the noise. Seeing Bianca agitated, she quickly tried to calm her down. "Please, you need to stay calm. You just had a miscarriage. It's bad for your health. There will be chances for another baby in the future, but you need to take care of your body first."
Bianca had already sensed her baby was gone. But hearing it confirmed, her heart still ached. Losing this baby meant her connection with James was truly severed.
The nurse had prepared for a stronger reaction from Bianca, but she fell silent instead. It's better to vent emotions than to bottle them up, which worried the nurse more.
"Please, look forward. You—"
"Leave. I want to be alone!" Bianca suddenly turned over, pulling the blanket over her face, her tone harsh.
The nurse, not wanting to provoke her further, reminded her to use the call button if she needed anything and left.
Bianca sat up. The Smith family couldn't be relied upon. Before they found out about her miscarriage, she needed to secure more benefits for herself. Even if she couldn't be with James, she would make sure he felt guilty about her.
She reached for her phone to make a call but found it broken on the bedside table. She remembered the accident and wondered if the Johnson family had noticed. For now, she could only wait. If necessary, she would ask the nurse to borrow a phone to call her family.
Meanwhile, Eli started to get worried about Bianca. He tried calling the driver, but the driver was more severely injured and unconscious. Eli had no choice but to check if there had been an accident on Bianca's route home.
Emily, on the other hand, had cut ties with the Johnson family and felt much lighter because of it. Just then, she got a call from Floyd.
"Hey, Floyd, what's up?"
"Emily, I need a favor. I've got a tricky patient and could really use your help."
Floyd sounded apologetic. He had no choice; the patient was introduced by a friend and had a significant background. Floyd had always looked out for her, providing rare medicines whenever she needed them. Emily wouldn't refuse him.
"I've got some time now. Just give me the address, and I'll head over."
Without hesitation, Emily agreed. Floyd, thrilled, quickly gave her the hospital address.
Emily followed Floyd's directions and went straight to the hospital room. Floyd was waiting at the door.
"You're here. The patient's inside. He's a friend of mine, and I couldn't refuse him," Floyd explained, leading her in.
There were bodyguards at the door, indicating the patient's high status. Alone, Emily might have been stopped, but with Floyd, the guards let them in respectfully.
Emily was surprised to see that the patient was Mason.
"Mason, I brought the doctor. She's very skilled and will surely help you," Floyd said, smiling.
"You?" Mason frowned, clearly not expecting Emily.
Emily nodded. She could tell Mason didn't like her. If she were truly Daniel's girlfriend, Mason's attitude would bother her. But she was just a pawn, and she understood that for a family like the Smiths, her past and status were mismatched with Daniel's position. Mason's opposition was understandable.
"Mr. Smith, I'm here at Mr. Ryan's invitation to treat you," Emily replied calmly.
Mason turned to Floyd. "Floyd, are you kidding me? This is the Johnson family's lost daughter. Before they found her, she was picking trash. After bringing her back, she didn't learn anything and had a bad reputation. How can she treat me?"
Prejudice makes people believe only what they want to. Floyd, having seen much of human nature, wouldn't be easily fooled, especially in matters of life and death. True skills are evident.
"Mason, what are you saying? Are you calling me senile? Let me tell you, don't be rude to Emily. If it weren't for our friendship, I couldn't have brought her here. If you offend her and she leaves, even God won't be able to help you."
Floyd was angry. Mason, usually sharp, seemed muddled now. Maybe he was getting old or his illness had affected his mind.
"Then I want to see if you can really treat me. If not, you're a fraud, and I'll tell Daniel. Either admit you're a con or prove your skills!" Mason sneered at Emily.
Emily glanced at Mason and said, "Then I won't treat you. Before I leave, as a doctor's kind advice, take care of yourself, or your condition will worsen faster."
