Chapter 95

Chapter 95

Benjamin was called a scumbag by Serenity.

Most people really couldn't handle that, but unfortunately, Benjamin didn't care at all.

"What happened yesterday might have been intentional on her part."

That possibility couldn't be ruled out.

Fights between men are openly fierce and confrontational.

Battles between women are no less intense.

Whether Celeste would take such a desperate risk, Serenity wasn't sure.

After all, what she valued was the Harris family's status and upbringing. As for Celeste's true nature, she didn't really know.

After a few seconds of silence, she said calmly, "Even if she did set it up, it shows she cares about you. That's better than stringing you along while hurting you."

Regarding Evelyn hurting Benjamin because of Matthew, even if Serenity didn't know all the details, she had a general understanding.

Now Serenity was using this issue to shut him up, trying to make him unable to argue back.

"She's changed."

"A woman's heart is like a needle at the bottom of the ocean. How many women have you met? Can you be sure right now that she's not lying to you for that Matthew?"

"Mom, get Celeste to leave as soon as possible."

After saying that, he hung up directly and turned to walk back inside.

Evelyn had just come out of the bathroom. She was wearing a nightgown, raising her hand to dry her wet hair, her whole body emanating moisture.

"Done with your call? You should go shower too."

At her casual remark, he walked over and pulled her directly into his arms, lowering his head to kiss her lips.

Everything seemed rehearsed, the whole process flowing smoothly without a single unnecessary movement.

The burning kiss came with surging emotions. Evelyn felt her nerves being pulled, but she had no thought of resisting.

Only when all her breath was taken away did she push him: "Upset?"

"You're the one who's upset, right?" His voice was husky as he held her tighter, "I have nothing to do with Celeste."

At this moment, Benjamin didn't have his usual air of superiority. Instead, he was like a child, holding her and explaining.

"I know," she gently patted his head, her voice tender, "She was arranged by your family. It has nothing to do with you."

"But you're upset."

Was it that obvious?

Thinking about her reactions tonight, Evelyn felt guilty again.

She reached out to hug his neck, gently stroking his back like petting a cat.

"No, I was just a bit tired today..."

"You weren't happy seeing her today, so you went out all day?"

He really understood her psychology.

Evelyn couldn't help but laugh, rubbing her face against his neck: "I'm not unhappy."

Afraid he wouldn't believe her, she repeated seriously: "Really, I'm not. I just feel bad that you're being put in a difficult position."

"It was because I was always so willful before that your mother got the idea of changing your future wife."

"Dealing with this must be giving you a headache now, right? You're afraid I'll be unhappy, but also afraid of affecting the relationship with the Harris family."

"You've worked hard."

Benjamin held her chin, looking down at that delicate face before him.

Her fair skin was flawless, and felt so good that he couldn't help but stroke it a few more times with his fingertips.

But as he stared at her, his eyes grew deeper and deeper, making Evelyn's heart fill with unease.

"Wh-why are you looking at me like that?"

"I'm actually surprised you'd say something like that."

"I can grow up too, okay!"

The romantic atmosphere instantly dissipated quite a bit. Like a little wildcat showing her claws, she spoke with fake fierceness.

"Yes, you can grow up. I was being narrow-minded." He lowered his head to kiss her cheek, his voice full of laughter.

"Stop kissing me, go shower. I still have things to do tonight, so hurry up!"

What could she have to do at night?

That required hurrying?

Looking at the tempting Evelyn in his arms, Benjamin thought of certain blush-inducing scenarios.

"Okay, I'll go shower. Be good." He pinched her face and got up to shower.

Hearing the water running in the bathroom, Evelyn immediately started preparing!

When Benjamin came out, he saw Evelyn nestled in bed, smiling at him: "Come here quick!"

What man could resist a beautiful woman in bed?

Looking at his beloved Evelyn, the thoughts that had been boiling in the bathroom were now almost overflowing.

Just as he was about to pounce, Evelyn's soft voice rang out.

"Do you have any horror movies you want to watch? Stella said this one is really scary. I've wanted to watch it for a while, but never dared to alone."

Benjamin froze completely.

He noticed something off about the bedroom lighting. Turning to look at the wall opposite the bed, he found various films ready to go, just waiting to be selected.

"The thing you had to do tonight is watch a movie?"

"Yes, hurry over. It's already past eight. A movie is two or three hours, and if we watch too late, we won't be able to get up tomorrow."

Evelyn's muttering made Benjamin laugh at himself.

She was so resistant to having sex with him—how could she possibly be inviting him?

He really had been overthinking.

But facing her expectant eyes, Benjamin couldn't refuse. He lifted the covers and lay down, and she naturally snuggled into his arms and started selecting a film.

His chin gently rubbed against the top of her head.

Having her soft warmth in his arms was satisfying enough.

After watching an incredibly thrilling horror movie, with Benjamin by her side, Evelyn slept soundly.

Well-rested, she began preparing for her performance.

As the principal dancer of the White Group, there were still some stage details she needed to finalize.

Evelyn drove to The White Group Branch to find the dance company director, never expecting that Celeste would also be there.

"Ms. Thomas." She greeted first, her face wearing a warm smile.

Evelyn smiled and nodded slightly, but didn't say much.

Even if she and Celeste wouldn't become enemies, they definitely wouldn't become friends either.

Since that was the case, there was no need to maintain surface-level pleasantries.

Seeing she didn't want to talk much, Celeste didn't mind and turned her attention to the dance company director.

"My friend doesn't have much stage experience, but she has excellent personal qualities and has studied ballet since childhood."

"So I hope you can allow her to participate in this performance."

The director agreed right away. Evelyn was puzzled but didn't ask.

After they finished talking, she was about to speak when a somewhat familiar voice sounded behind her.

"Excuse me, is Mr. Lopez from Star Dance Troupe here?"

Evelyn's brow furrowed slightly. She instinctively turned around, and Freya's innocent, pure face appeared before her.

Freya was clearly surprised to run into Evelyn and seemed a bit panicked.

"Ms. Thomas, I came here today... I didn't know you were... " Freya looked flustered and anxious. After a few words, she didn't know what to do, and tears started welling up in her eyes.

Freya's current appearance, combined with Evelyn's usual spoiled temperament, made everyone else assume Evelyn was bullying Freya.
