Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Blood from Sophia's forehead dripped onto her palm, and she was nearly scared out of her wits.

The surroundings fell into a brief silence due to the sudden incident.

Everyone looked in the direction the watch had been thrown from, and Benjamin's raised arm hadn't yet lowered.

In broad daylight, a beautiful woman had been hit, so naturally, someone spoke up for justice.

"What kind of jerk would dare to hurt someone?"

"Could it be this Ms. Thomas's man? She really does hook up with men everywhere."

Nasty words were thrown at Evelyn, but it was Sophia whose face turned pale.

Benjamin's custom-made shirt and trousers were pressed to perfection, and he radiated an air of superiority.

He walked toward the center of the crowd on his long legs, his cold and sharp presence making others immediately step aside to clear a path before he even got close.

But his indifferent eyes beneath his short hair showed no pride. Instead, they were covered with a heavy gloom like dark clouds, and his perfectly chiseled features revealed a disturbing coldness.

"Benjamin," scarlet blood dripped onto Sophia's eyelashes, and she looked pitiful. "Even if you want to stand up for Evelyn, you can't be so unreasonable."

Benjamin.

Although not many people present could recognize him at a glance, everyone knew his name and knew they should maintain a humble attitude in front of him.

Especially with the sharp aura surrounding him at this moment.

Even Evelyn, whom he treasured, could feel his anger.

Having known him for so long, this was the first time she'd seen him lose his temper.

Everyone's eyes were on Benjamin, but since he appeared, he had only been looking at her.

Benjamin's calm, quiet gaze simply ignored everyone else.

He walked up to her and stopped, reaching up to ruffle her hair. He looked down at her clenched hand: "Let go, be good."

Evelyn's tense nerves relaxed at that moment. Her fingers loosened, and when she looked up at him, her beautiful eyes were filled with tears.

Benjamin's fingers touched her face, and her tears fell.

His brows furrowed silently, and his other hand pulled her into his embrace, his arm around her waist, letting her lean against him.

Her shoulders trembled slightly. She cried without a sound, but it twisted his heart painfully.

Benjamin's large hand gently patted her head as he looked up at Sophia with a half-smile.

"Are you saying that Evelyn ignored me, her fiancé, and was being intimate with a man who slandered her?"

Blood from Sophia's forehead dripped down, and her hands were covered in it, too. She looked both miserable and frightening.

She wanted to say something more, but meeting his gaze, she couldn't help but tremble.

Matthew finally reacted and pulled her behind him: "Intentional assault is a crime! Don't think you can get away with it just because you have the White family backing you!"

Benjamin's handsome face was full of indifference, his voice almost gentle.

"Kneel down and apologize. Clear everything up for her. Otherwise, I don't mind showing you what real intentional assault looks like."

Matthew suddenly realized something.

Publicly, Benjamin was the privileged young master of the White family, but secretly, he was also a powerful gang leader.

With his status, dealing with a few people was just a matter of raising his hand.

"You... if you do this, Evelyn will blame you too!"

Benjamin laughed instead of getting angry, his handsome face showing coldness: "You just wanted to crush her under your feet, and now you want her to help you. When it comes to being shameless, you take the prize."

Benjamin's lips curved up, and the coldness in his eyes deepened.

"Since you want my forgiveness, you should kneel down."

Apologizing was normal, but kneeling to apologize...

Evelyn clearly felt the ruthlessness in Benjamin's eyes.

She lifted her head, her beautiful eyes a bit red: "Benjamin..."

He gently patted her back, his tone completely different from when he spoke to others, full of tenderness: "What's wrong? Dr. Jennings has already gone to take care of your grandfather. He'll be fine."

"Let them leave. I don't want to see them."

Revenge was necessary, but with Preston's condition unclear, she didn't have the energy for it.

But Matthews's presence only makes her feel that the Thomas family is inviting trouble into their home.

Benjamin was silent for a moment: "Drag them out."

Seeing his raised hand, Chase immediately arranged for the bodyguards to step forward.

"If you won't apologize, then pay with a leg."

Not only was Sophia scared, but Matthew was also panicking.

He looked at Evelyn leaning in Benjamin's arms: "How long are you going to keep this up? Sophia is hurt! If you keep making trouble, I really won't care about you anymore!"

Benjamin's lips curved in a cold, thin arc: "Who do you think you are to threaten my fiancée? Drag them out!"

The bodyguards dragged Matthew and Sophia out, and the surrounding people didn't dare to keep watching and quickly dispersed.

"It's okay now," Benjamin held Evelyn as he sat on a bench. "Your grandfather will be fine."

After speaking, he looked at Ian, who was still in shock: "You just watched them gang up on Evelyn?"

"Mr. White," Ian's heart jumped, and he immediately spoke, "There were just too many things happening today. I didn't react in time."

"Didn't react in time, or do you think the Thomas family will eventually go to Matthew, so you let Evelyn be bullied?"

Benjamin's dark, oppressive voice not only shocked Ian into silence but also cleared Evelyn's confused mind.

According to her memories from her past life, Preston shouldn't have had an incident at this time. Why did Preston suddenly fall ill?

She looked at Ian, her voice hoarse but demanding an answer: "Why did my grandfather suddenly fall ill?"

"It was very sudden..."

Ian seemed to want to cover it up, but noticing Benjamin's dark look, he involuntarily shuddered and told the truth.

"Before Mr. Preston Thomas fell ill, Mr. Matthew Thomas went to the study, but I'm not sure what they talked about."

Matthew!

Thinking of Sophia's wild ambitions and Matthew's ruthlessness from her past life, plus Preston's sudden illness, all the blood in Evelyn's body rushed to her head.

Just as her emotions were about to overflow, Allan Jennings came out: "The surgery was successful, and the patient is out of danger. However, due to blood clots in his head, he may not wake up for now."

"How long is 'for now'?" The joy on her face instantly faded, and she turned pale.

"We'll need to observe for three to five days."

The doctor's answer, neither dismissive nor clear, made her heart sink.

That evening, Benjamin took Evelyn back to the Thomas Villa. She walked around the cold and quiet villa once, then drove away again.

She didn't notice that a car followed her back to the hospital in the night.

"Ms. Thomas is probably worried about Preston." Chase watched Evelyn hurry out of the car and spoke.

But through the rearview mirror, Chase's look at Benjamin clearly showed sympathy.

Did Evelyn need to sneak around to see Preston?

She probably knew Matthew had been injured and came to see Matthew.

Benjamin watched Evelyn's slender figure in the night, as if talking to himself or asking Chase: "Is he really that important?"

Love is blind, whether it's Evelyn or Benjamin.

Chase didn't dare answer his question and only said: "I'll go see what Ms. Thomas is really up to."
