Chapter 109

Chapter 109

Benjamin held Evelyn in his arms, her face full of grievance. His expression was dark, and his eyes were even darker.

Matthew never expected Evelyn to say such things.

Before, whenever he said a few words, she would think everything was Benjamin's fault, and then she and Benjamin would get into a fight.

She wouldn't give Benjamin any pleasant looks at all, but now...

Matthew suddenly felt that what Evelyn just said reflected her true thoughts.

The smile on his face became stiff. "Evelyn, what are you saying? We're siblings. Even jokes have limits."

"Saying such cruel things will make people think you're a vicious woman."

Evelyn always cared about his opinion. If he said this, she would surely hold back.

Her arms around Benjamin's waist tightened, her voice choked with sobs.

"He knows we're siblings, but he actually wanted to... wanted to..."

She didn't finish her sentence, but her aggrieved appearance, combined with her choice of words and the earlier situation, was enough for people to understand what she meant.

Benjamin's face had turned extremely dark.

"I really went too easy on him last time."

After Evelyn left, Benjamin didn't want to sit there anymore.

Watching Matthew leave, unease mixed with anger rose in his heart, so he followed.

Who knew he would hear her feelings for him? His heart instantly felt warm.

She wouldn't let anyone hurt him.

With one hand holding her, his right hand grabbed Matthew's collar and lifted him straight up.

There weren't many people at the restroom entrance, and they were in a corner.

But such a commotion still caught quite a few people's attention.

However, two men fighting over one woman was a common scene, so no one stepped forward.

"Let me go! Benjamin, how dare you treat me like this!"

With his feet off the ground, Matthew's face turned red.

Especially seeing Evelyn smiling brightly in Benjamin's arms made him extremely embarrassed and angry.

"Why wouldn't I dare?"

Benjamin's face showed no expression, but his voice was calm. "I grew up in the underworld. I know countless bloody methods."

"Dealing with someone like you is easy."

"I just wonder if your legs will still be fine next time."

Last time Benjamin arranged for someone to hurt Matthew, he had held back somewhat.

Even though it was Evelyn's request, who knew if she would get angry at him if Matthew really ended up paralyzed?

But when Matthew got hurt, she didn't say anything. Instead, after Matthew recovered, she complained several times that he had been too gentle.

He should teach Matthew a harsh lesson.

He pressed Matthew against the wall.

"Stay away from Evelyn."

Then he let go, didn't even look at Matthew's pathetic state, and turned to leave with Evelyn in his arms.

Matthew slid down to sit on the floor, staring at their departing backs, his eyes almost poisonous.

Evelyn leaned against Benjamin's chest and looked up at him. "How did you come out?"

Did Benjamin hear all those things she said to teach Matthew a lesson?

She felt a bit shy... but if he could believe in her feelings, that would be great.

Right now, his expression was a bit cold, but clearly not because of her. Obviously, he didn't think she was acting to fool him, nor did he think she was pretending to be devoted in front of him for Matthew's sake.

Just thinking about it made her happy.

He looked down at her and patted her waist lightly. "You were about to cry from fear just now, and now you're fine?"

"With you by my side, what do I have to fear?" Evelyn smiled playfully.

She had indeed been pretending to cry a bit, but she was also a little worried he might misunderstand.

"I didn't know you had such arm strength."

She looked down at the arm around her waist. "Matthew may be weak, but he's still an adult male, and you just lifted him like that."

She was shocked by that scene earlier.

Looking at her bright eyes, he couldn't help but smile. "Didn't you use to complain about my brute strength?"

Her brain really wasn't working well in the past. Such a man who looked slim in clothes but muscular without them, with such boyfriend power, and she actually complained about him!

Good thing she had changed her ways now. There was still time.

They returned to the private room and rejoined the game.

As for Matthew, he never came back.

Freya felt uneasy, always feeling something had happened, but she couldn't tell anything from Benjamin and Evelyn's faces.

Soon, Matthew sent her a message, and she could only make an excuse to leave early.

Knocking and entering the room, she saw Matthew sitting on the sofa with a gloomy face and shivered hard.

"Brother," she called out softly.

After he raised his hand to signal her over, her legs were shaking.

Matthew pulled her to sit on the sofa and lifted her chin slightly with his hand.

"You're still not enough like her. She's such a proud person, how could she show such timid eyes like you?"

His hand was clearly warm, but Freya shook even harder.

Her lips trembled uncontrollably. "I... I can't compare to Ms. Brown. I can only try to imitate her..."

"Indeed, how can a fake be compared to her?"

His eyes suddenly turned cold, and he pushed her off the sofa.

Freya had accidentally met Matthew at the hospital. When she learned she could stay in Emerald City, she thought her luck had turned, and she could challenge Evelyn.

But Matthew, who seemed gentle and refined, was rotten to the core.

Matthew forced her to constantly imitate Sophia, and he even wanted to have her face surgically altered to look like Sophia's!

Fortunately, the timing wasn't right now, so he temporarily gave up this crazy idea.

Thinking about how Benjamin and Evelyn, who had killed Sophia, were living freely, Matthew's heart filled with endless resentment.

He picked up the whip from the coffee table and lashed it at Freya.

Freya cried out in pain and sobbed, "Brother, there's a rehearsal tomorrow. People will see it."

"How could your brother bear to hurt you?"

Matthew's seemingly refined face became twisted. "Don't worry, I won't leave marks on you, and no one will be able to tell."

"This is just punishment. How could you let Evelyn be so happy?"

When he was tired from hitting her, he threw down the whip.

Freya curled up on the floor, tears falling from the pain.

"Be good. As long as you do what I say, I won't wrong you."

"Don't you also hate Evelyn in your heart?"

"She's now with Benjamin, the one you love. Doesn't that hurt you?"

Narrowing his eyes, Matthew remembered what Evelyn had said earlier. "Are they getting along well now?"

The sobbing stopped abruptly. Deep anger flashed in Freya's eyes, and her fingers gripping the carpet tightened.

"Yes... she acts like she loves Benjamin very much..."

Evelyn clearly detested Benjamin before. How did she suddenly fall in love with him?

Making Benjamin, who already only had eyes for Evelyn, unable to see anyone else even more.

Matthew leaned back on the sofa, his eyes showing malice.

"Is that so? Such deep feelings. But if Evelyn were ruined, would he still care?"

As he spoke, the corners of his lips curved up, looking just like a venomous snake. "You'll arrange this, won't you?"
