Chapter 108

Chapter 108

Matthew's voice rang out with a smile: "Evelyn can't stand even a grain of sand in her eye. With Mr. White's face being so popular with girls, it's really worrying."

The girls around immediately started discussing, with a hint of probing in their words.

"Who doesn't know that Mr. White is completely devoted to Ms. Thomas?"

"Right, everyone in Emerald City knows that Mr. White will marry no one but Ms. Thomas."

"We just don't know when Ms. Thomas will agree to marry Mr. White?"

"Ms. Thomas, Mr. White is so good, you must cherish him."

"If you and Mr. White ever break up, give us a heads up - we'd like to try our luck."

Their voices were full of laughter, and while it seemed a bit provocative to say they had bad intentions, could they really claim to have none?

Evelyn was already feeling uncomfortable.

She tilted her head against Benjamin's shoulder, her delicate face looking especially captivating under the flickering bar lights.

"Didn't you hear? I can't stand even a grain of sand in my eye."

"You're praising him so highly right in front of me—surely you haven't developed inappropriate feelings for him?"

In this materialistic age, forget about one lover - men having several lovers was nothing unusual.

Let alone someone of Benjamin's status?

Evelyn narrowed her eyes as she scanned the young faces.

"I don't know what I might do, so don't try testing me."

Then she lifted her head slightly to look at Benjamin: "So many people staring at you - I'm not happy. What are you going to do about it?"

He lowered his head slightly, forehead against hers.

"I'm yours."

Everyone present had heard plenty of sweet talk from men to women before.

But their eyes still showed envy at this moment.

Such a handsome Benjamin, publicly showing Evelyn the greatest favor, making it clear his wife would definitely be her - what more could she want?

If it were any of them, once they secured the position of Benjamin's wife, they wouldn't care if Benjamin found other women.

What a shame...

Everyone deflated, and though they had thoughts, they didn't dare pull the tiger's whiskers.

Fortunately, Gregory was perceptive. He immediately called everyone to play a game.

"Come on, let's play Truth or Dare!"

After getting unanimous agreement from the girls, he added with a smile: "But we have a performance coming up, so drinking isn't convenient - let's switch to soft drinks."

"Also, there are more girls here, so everyone should be modest and not let things get out of hand."

Very suggestive words.

There weren't many men present - if someone took the opportunity to confess or get intimate with the opposite sex, it would just cause trouble.

Soon, the atmosphere heated up with the game.

While everyone was having fun, Evelyn quietly told Benjamin something and got up to leave.

She went to the restroom. As soon as she came out, she saw Matthew.

Her brows immediately furrowed, and the disgust on her face wasn't hidden at all.

Evelyn turned her head away and tried to walk right past him.

"Evelyn."

Matthew's brows furrowed slightly, his eyes showing helplessness: "Are you still angry? Sophia is already dead - how long are you going to stay mad at me?"

Evelyn stepped back, saying coldly: "I thought we had an understanding - we don't bother each other."

His frown deepened: "There's no one else here - are you still going to be like this?"

Taking a step forward, he looked down at her: "Is it because of Benjamin? What did he say to make you so guarded against me?"

"Don't worry, if he wants to deal with me, it won't be that easy."

Evelyn looked at Matthew with even more disgust. She and Benjamin were deeply in love - how blind did Matthew have to be not to see that?

Matthew was trying to drive a wedge between them to this extent - was he brainless, or was he treating her intelligence like dirt?

Though...

In the past, she really did become wary of Benjamin because of what Matthew said, and grew even more worried that Benjamin might harm Matthew.

She had reaped what she sowed.

"Matthew, Benjamin is very good. He's never thought of hurting you."

"But you constantly badmouth him in front of me."

"Real villain."

She stepped back, putting distance between them.

Benjamin lacked security, and his guard against Matthew couldn't be suppressed at all.

She couldn't let anyone see her alone with Matthew - she had to leave quickly.

But Matthew blocked her way, showing no intention of letting her pass.

The corridor here was a bit narrow - to get past, she would have to get very close to him.

Evelyn kept a cold face. Matthew gave a bitter smile, his voice becoming gentler.

"Sophia's sudden death made me sad, and I said things I shouldn't have."

"Evelyn, we grew up together, and you and Sophia were best friends - how long are you going to stay mad at me?"

"Now that Sophia is gone, we need to avenge her even more."

"If it wasn't for Benjamin, how would she have had an accident? We must make him pay in blood!"

Evelyn laughed in anger.

"You want me to harm my fiancé for a woman who repeatedly tried to harm me?"

"Matthew, listen to yourself - does that sound human?"

"You going crazy over Sophia is your business. Don't say she was my best friend - I find it disgusting."

"Also, my fiancé does everything with me as his priority, but he dealt with Sophia through proper means."

"She died in an accident - she deserved it!"

"Don't badmouth him in front of me anymore. I don't want to hear it, and don't even think about hurting him."

"Otherwise, I won't go easy on you."

After this speech, she had thoroughly scolded Matthew while expressing how much she cared about Benjamin.

She even felt a bit excited saying it.

Such a good fiancé as Benjamin was truly rare, yet he would marry no one but her.

Her luck was really good.

As for Sophia...

In her past life, Evelyn had been stupid, which gave Sophia the chance to do evil.

Seeing Matthew still going on about how Sophia had it hard and how Benjamin had brainwashed her, she looked up and glared at him.

"I've known all along about the disgusting things you and Sophia did. You still want to drive a wedge between Benjamin and me? Impossible!"

She looked bright and generous, stunningly beautiful, shining brilliantly under the lights.

Matthew looked at that face, as radiant as flowers, complex emotions flashing in his eyes.

"Evelyn, you were resistant to your marriage with Benjamin. Not just me - the entire Thomas family, even all of Emerald City, knows this."

"I'm not an incompetent person. You don't need to sacrifice so much."

"He can't hurt me, but what you're saying will make me sad."

Out of the corner of his eye, Matthew noticed a pair of shiny leather shoes. He suddenly reached out and pulled Evelyn into his arms.

"In your heart, there's always only been me."

Evelyn was startled and immediately tried to push him away.

But the physical difference between men and women made her resistance useless.

In her panic, someone grabbed Matthew by the back of his neck and pulled him away.

The next second, she fell into a familiar embrace.

Evelyn immediately wrapped her arms around his waist. Before even looking up, she started expressing her dissatisfaction.

"Benjamin, it's because you were too easy on him last time. His leg just healed, and he dares to treat me like this."

"You should have beaten him until he was paralyzed!"
