THE PAIN OF THE PAST

THE PAIN OF THE PAST
Ava's POV

“No, that's not possible." I shook my head in disbelief. “I am my mother's daughter. You can spout lies to me and expect me to believe you after everything you took from me." I spat at Evelyn.

She stood right in front of me looking like what I should have been if she had not crawled her way into my position as Alpha Sebastian's wife.

As if it was not enough for her, she wanted to take every single thing I had including my own birth mother.

“It's sad that you don't believe me. But that is the truth. Elara never thought it best for you to know you were not her biological daughter. She adopted you from the same orphanage she had put me after killing my mother," she claimed but I refused to believe.

All my life, my Mom had been the only one who truly cared about me. She protected me and loved me. There was no way she would lie to my face and tell me I wasn't her daughter.

“Even after everything, you are still trying to take everything away from me. Mom is precious to me. She loves me and will never let anything happen to me," I vouched vehemently.

“Where is she now? If she loved you, she wouldn't have abandoned you to those men just for money. I am pretty sure that now she knows that we have found her hiding hut, she must be getting ready to flee without you," Evelyn accused my mother, adding more fuel to my blazed heart that harbored hatred.

“Mom wouldn't abandon me. She cares about me!" I screamed having enough of her talk and no proof.

As if reading my mind, she brought out a tablet and played a live camera, “As we speak she is on the run. I know this might be hard for you to believe. But Elara had rubbed your childhood away from you. To me you were a victim of circumstance. She used you for her own selfish benefits and when she no longer had any use of you, she disposed you." the truth hit sharper than a knife.

I couldn't bring myself to believe what I had seen. My Mom was indeed fleeing and the worst thing she did was running away with that money we had both worked hard for.

She was leaving me behind, taking everything I once knew was home.

Tears streamed down my eyes as the truth glared at me. I had no other choice but to accept the cold reality. I was no noble.

“If you claim that I was adopted then where I was I adopted who do I belong to? There must have been a reason why mom had to talk me in. Maybe my parents didn't want me and Mom took it upon herself to take me in," I said, still in denial.

“I am sorry but I have to break it to you. Just like I was adopted too. Elara killed my mother, afraid the truth may come out back then she brought me back to my own home. She was good at hiding the truth. She had me fooled for years. Turned my own father against me. What do you think she will do to a random girl who isn't even related to my father?" She questioned with an amused voice.

Denial still held me down and refused me the liberty to think what she was saying as the truth.

I tried to remember yet nothing rang in my mind. She had done far worse than good.

“You wish to know who you are then watch this." A mirror appeared on the wall and slowly everything displayed right before my eyes.

THIRD POV (AVA)

Rain danced heavily on the smooth pavement, beating its drums furiously. A mother led still, eyes closed, body broken from the disastrous accident that had happened.

“Mom."

“Mom."

A child's voice wailed through the blasting showers, tears mixing with the heavy pour.

Two people stood watching as the girl cried for her mother's return.

“The job has been done. What will happen to the little girl?" A male voice, cold and distant asked the woman standing next to him.

Putting her gloves on the woman strode over to the little girl and held up her chin. “We can put her pretty face to good use. A prostitute's daughter will always fetch good cash if treated properly."

The man chuckled at the woman's mischievous idea. “So you are going to sell her off after killing her own mother and father. What if she finds out the truth when she gets older? What will you explain to a child whose parents you murdered just for the game?"

“You ask too many questions. What I have in mind is simple. Take her as my own daughter, push her out to the nobles. I am sure she will be able to charm an Alpha or two with her beauty. That way, she will compensate me for her mother's betrayal," The woman said, caressing the little girl cheek with an mirrored gentleness in her palm.

The little girl stared at her eyes wide open in confusion. She trembled at the sight of the vicious woman before her. Yet in order to save her mother without knowing who had killed her, she took the woman's hand and begged;

“Please, save my mama. Please save my mama." The little girl cried.

“What is your name little one?" The woman asked.

“Ava cobberman."

“Good girl. From now on I will give you another Mama. And your name shall be Ava Darkmoor instead. Do you understand?" The woman queried and the little girl responded with a nod.

“Good girl." The woman smiled as she caressed the little girl's hair with calm grace.

Automatically, as if charmed, the little girl followed the woman leaving her Mama behind in the pouring rain.

At a magnificent mansion the woman sat across her husband with the little girl at the center. Morning chirps of birds were muted by the cold walls but rays of sunlight peeked through the curtains inside the dining room.

“She will be our daughter from now on. You will treat her like your own. I have an appointment to meet up with. Get to know your daughter Edward. I will be right back once I am done with my work," the woman said as she got up from her chair.

“Elara," het husband called after her. The woman stopped by the door and glanced over her shoulder chanting a spell that cast the two into a deep sleep.

Ava watched as everything her so called mother had done unfold. She had been treated with so much love and manipulated into thinking that Elara was her biological mother.

Even when Evelyn was brought home, she made her think of her as an enemy. Ava grew hatred towards Evelyn even when she had done nothing wrong.

The lies of Elara piloted her into a messy, arrogant young lady who became too ambitious and greedy for a life that didn't belong to her.

Realizing she was just a weak Omega picked from the street, Ava couldn't contain the humiliation she felt.

She uncuffed herself and rushed for a scissor at the corner. With trembling hands she pointed it to her throat.

Evie stood and watched her with unbothered eyes. She knew this was going to happen however she was willing to forgive the sister she never had.

“You will only hurt yourself, Ava," Evie said gently, trying to stay calm before her even though deep in her heart she didn't want to lose her sister.

“No, I can't continue to live when I have just learned all my life has been a lie. It's best if I disappear from this world after all, I have nothing left," Ava said and stabbed herself with the scissors ending her life at the spot.

Evie closed her eyes controlling the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. She won't blame Ava for taking her own life. It was her destiny from the start to be a lone and forgotten.
