VISITING THE TEMPLE
VISITING THE TEMPLE
Sebastian’s POV
“Forgive me Alpha. Elara and her daughter escaped before we could find them. However, we have not relented searching," Callan, the guard Dante has assigned to rampage the Darkmoor mansion reported.
“No one leaves until they are found. I don't care how it is done. They must be found at all cost," I ordered angrily, leaving no room for failure.
My Mom was in a coma because of them. If I had not arrived earlier to share my blood with her, I would have lot her to the cold hands of death.
Dante walked in after the guard left, he looked worried and exhausted at the same time.
“Those two have to be found at all cost. Have them arrested and thrown into the dungeon. After the Alpha election, they were face the proper panel," I said, monitoring my mother's vitals.
If only she listened to me and stopped following those two, she won't have been in this condition. Controlled by magic almost cost her life.
Once she wakes I hope she will realize her mistakes and apologize to Evie for everything she had said and done to her.
“How is Evie?" I asked. Lowering the blanket over my Mom.
“She is safe. Nothing unusual happened in her ward. But she is still in a coma," he replied, setting my worry at peace.
Things are a bit messy now that Lucas and Layla has shown their true colors. But for us to take them down, I have to prove they are guilty of their crimes.
“Send someone to guard this ward. Tell Rowan to take over the search. We have an important place to go." I rose, heading for the door.
The only place I could find a solution to the issue at hand was the pack's holy ground. Meeting the priestess after some many years was something I wasn't willing to do.
She had prophesied wrongly about Evelyn's presence by my side and also failed to protecty father when he went for an impossible war she induced.
If not for her divine connection with the moon goddess I would have sent her on exile.
Dante and I drove down to the pack's temple. The grounds were sacred with orments that served as a link to the celestial realm.
Once we stepped in, the giant stone doors closed and lights came on inside the temple.
“I have been waiting for, Alpha." A shrewd voice spoke from the shadows.
The priestess in her full regalia stepped out like a mist of fire. Sacred markings trailed along her hands and small symbol details on her face.
She gestured to an empty bedstond I had not seen when I came in. Then sat down as she did a ritual chant.
“You were expecting me. Why?" I asked, not pleased by premonition.
“Well, you have refused to pay your honors to me after my prophecy about your chosen Luna. I only did what I was told and still stand in my ground," she said, climbing down the stair-like pavilion.
Her servants laid out their arms to assist her as she stepped down to a leveled ground.
“We are not enemies, Alpha Sebastian." She cooed with a smile which I refused to reciprocate.
There was nothing about her that seemed pleasing to me. So long as she had labeled my wife a threat to the kingdom over an unrealistic prophecy she became my enemy.
I don't care what others might think or the consequences I would face for not approving the moon goddess's priestess. She declared a cold war between us own her own.
So I wouldn't hesitate to reciprocate the feeling back.
“We are not friends either," I stated just to be clear. She doesn't refute my words and continued with what she was doing.
“I know we had a misunderstanding. But my prophecy was for the good of the pack. Even for your sake. However, I gave been reconsidering my vision lately." I raised a questioning brow at her and she sighed in defeat.
“We have been having a flicker within the celestial realm. Just now someone who shouldn't be in there was taken..."
“None of that is my business," I cut her off ready to tell what I came until she mentioned Evie's name.
“Your wife, Luna Evelyn has transcended into the celestial realm. And I am sure her body is somewhere far from here which is dangerous if you want her alive."
“What are you playing at?" I growled knowing she was trying to shake my resolve about her.
“Your wife is no ordinary Luna. You must know she is from a rare bloodline. And that bloodline is connected directly to the moon goddess. You know what that means," she said, carefully striding over to where I sat.
“Is she in danger?" I asked.
“No."
“Then I have to problem. I truth her well enough to handle her own issues with her bloodline. However, what I will do is to stand by her side and when she needs me, I will slay whatever thing whether beast or celestial to protect her," I declared not minding what I might offend.
She narrowed her eyes at me for a second as if contemplating what next she had to say. But after a minute of intense staring and silence she let out a amused sigh.
“You have more faith than I thought you had. Luna Evelyn is lucky to have you as her Alpha," she chuckled.
“No, I am the one lucky to have her as my Luna. If you are done playing your mind games, I will proceed to state what I came here for," I said, leaving no room for another unnecessary conversation.
She nodded in approval and motioned her servants to take her back to the pavilion.
“What do you seek from me, Alpha Sebastian? As you know, my wisdom is limited to those who are not worthy of an answer," she muttered softly, laying her hand on the crystal like throne she had descended from a few minutes ago.
“I have a request to make instead. Lucas and Layla have proven themselves to be innocent in the eyes of the public regardless of the crimes they have committed. I intend to reveal their secrets and punish them for their evil. But I have no clue to what they are hiding." I explained.
“Those two have a limited time on earth. You don't have to worry about exposing them. They are more fragile than you think they aren't. Those who use dark magic will always pay a heavy price. Even if they try to go back, their souls have already been sold and would perish into nothingness once the time comes. I hope this answers your question," she said as if she knew I would ask her of such.
Satisfied with her answer, I stood up to leave the temple. On my way out she spoke.
“Be careful, Alpha. Don't underestimate your enemy too much. They might seem weak to you but they have a lurking demon within them. Once it is midnight, make sure to go to the place where your wife's body lays," she said as a warning then disappeared into mist.
I stepped out of the temple and met Dante outside. He was talking to a temple maiden. Once she noticed my presence, she fled to the other direction and Dante didn't seem pleased.
“You scared her away, Alpha." He threw his hands up and followed me behind.
“There are plenty of women you can have at the pack's mansion," I dryly said, not willing to entertain his nagging.
“Well, unfortunately, I can't have any kind of woman because of my nature. I am a beta not an alpha. That's by the way. Did you get the answer you were looking for?" He asked.
“Yes. For the next task, we are going to prepare for the election. I have a feeling something bad is going to happen that day," I muttered, entering the car we came in.
