UNEXPECTED AWAKENING
UNEXPECTED AWAKENING
Layla’s POV
Once I thought I had it all. Fame, wealth and power. But Evelyn, the little squeak I used to crush under my feet suddenly grew wings.
She destroyed my well planned life first then refused to marry Lucas. As if she could see through our plans without us knowing.
But that will all end tonight. Once I conduct the ritual and get her blood to lift Lucas' curse, our lives will go back to normal and I won't have to live the rest of my life in hiding.
I watched from the shadows as Sebastian rushed out of Evelyn's ward. His dear mother had attempted to take her own life.
Thanks to Elara's manipulation spells, I was able to whisper a few words to her ears. And it happened magically.
As soon as he drove out of the hospital, I snuck into Evelyn's ward looking less suspicious. Blending into a nurse's outfit to prevent any form of recognition was the best disguise suited for the operation.
I glided the door behind me mixing with the shadows as I closed into Evelyn's unconscious figure.
Her beauty twisted hatred in my chest. I was no fool, I'd known Lucas had once been in love with her. But due to my influence on him as his mate, he was able to break out of her charm.
I hated her for that. There were countless times when I wished I could destroy that beautiful face of hers and leave her scarred for life. But I never got the chance to because Lucas thought it would be unwise if me.
Well, I won't have to care about that anymoretonight.
“Sweet Evie," I said, trailing my knife against her lush pale skin. “You should have been quite when you were supposed to be. But somehow, you managed to catch wind about My plans for you. I hated that we had to fight and separate like we did." I sighed as if I was moved in a bit by the lies I spewed.
“You dirty little slut. If only you stayed put. My life would have been better than this. I hate you. I fucking hate you for ruining my life. So let's end this once and for all," I muttered, raising the knife to stab her. Something crept around my hand snapping the dagger out of my hand.
“Why do you like going through trouble, Layla? You dare to murder me in my sleep. That is not a fair fight, Dear ex-bestie." Evelyn resurrected from the bed like a ghost that had travelled through time.
My heart quickened as I searched for the answer to her miraculous awakening.
“You are supposed to be dead. That poison should have weakened your bones and melt them into slimes. How is it possible that you can still move?" I stared at her confused by the sight of her moving.
She was supposed to be half way across the afterlife. The poison I had given to Lucas was sufficient enough to burn down a person's bone just by touching it.
Even an ancestry witch won't dare to touch it. I made it with the blood of an impossible being and a venomous animal from demon's realm.
It's impossible she is awake and unharmed.
“You didn't drink the poison did you?" I narrowed my eyes, guessing that was the right answer to my question.
I chuckled finding her cunny ways amusing.
“You are smarter than I thought. I should not have underestimated you."
“Don't be silly. Do you think I would put on an act of killing myself in front of everyone without a reason," she said, slipping out of the bed.
I took a step back not letting my guard down in the slightest. “To be honest, I did take a sip of your poison. But the thing here is, I can't die. I mean, I already did once," she muttered, smiling mischievously at the same time.
“What do you mean? Do I look like a fool? I know you are good at manipulating people to like you. That's how you got Sebastian on your side..." My words trailed off as a piece of glass flew past the corner of my eyes, stabbing the wall behind.
“Don't you ever say my husband's name without respect. I will not tolerate that at all," she grumbled, her eyes glowing a shade of blue I had never seen.
Other omegas did have a shade of green or yellow eyes. But her's were blue, no werewolf not even an Alpha possessed such eye color except on being.
“It's impossible." I muttered under my breath, refusing to acknowledge the answer in my head.
“Don't be flattered. I have reached a peak no being can ever imagine. Yes, what you see is what you think in your mind." She circled behind me, trudging like a predator waiting to hunt.
“Now you think of yourself as a deity? I should kill you and label it blasphemy. You thinking of yourself as a celestial is an insult to our ancestors and kingdom," I snapped, pissed by her arrogance.
I lunged my fist at her but froze mid air, unable to control my body.
“You are not smart either. A foolish girl who has refused to accept her humble background. I nurtured you, made you to the finest and blessed you with beauty and intelligence. But once I sent you down to earth, you let yourself get corrupted with the vanity of this world. You even went ahead to kill the other me over and over and over again. Yet I had a pathetic love for you to change. I gave you all the centuries to repent Layla. But through different generations, and timelines, you refused to be uncorrupted." Her eyes blazed like blue fire, cracking my bones like I had fallen into ice directly.
My body grew unexplainablely weak just by looking at her. I tried to move but pain snapped my joints without remorse.
This is not Evelyn.
“Who are you?" I asked, realizing the woman in front me was much more powerful than the feeble woman I know.
“I am your god," She declared, placing her hand on my forehead and light blurred my sight.
