Chapter 268

Chapter 268
“What are you doing?” someone asked when he also noticed the dagger.

“She likes spouting nonsense with this mouth, so of course, I am going to ruin it,” Isley said coldly, stunning everyone, and they all saw what was happening.

Nadia was trembling with fear. She was even afraid that if she opened her mouth to speak, the dagger would hurt her.

“Isley,” Citrine asked her eyes with tears.

“What, don’t tell me that you care about her,” she asked mockingly when she saw the tears in her mother’s eyes.

Cause of what happened in the past, though they had spoken about everything, she still didn’t trust her mother fully. To her, her mother loved the bitch in front of her more than she loved her and her siblings. Who had not suffered cause of her selfishness and greed? So why could she have everything she wanted while they suffered? The more she thought of it, the more she got and wanted to harm the lady who had stolen their lives.

“Isley, I didn’t mean that. Yes, she should be taught a lesson for her words, but there are better ways to make her pay,” Citrine said, making Isley start laughing.

“Maybe you forgot about my other identity. Can you tell me about it again?” she asked, making Citrine’s face turn pale. How could she have forgotten? To her daughter, they solved everything by fighting, and that was the only thing she was doing.

“Sister, it's brother’s day, there is no need to shed blood. We can shed it tomorrow,” Ivanna said, making everyone speechless, and they turned to her.

They never expected that Ivanna’s words would work on Isley. “Okay, but we aren’t going to let her go,” Isley said as she played with the dagger on Nadia’s face.

When Nadia heard that she had escaped death, she felt relieved and even had the urge to cry. Seeing the tears in her eyes, Ivanna rolled her eyes.

“Such a crybaby. I think we should just throw her into the tiger’s den. Let her stay there for more than a day so that she can’t be crying every time,” Ivanna said, making Nadia stop crying.

She had confused feelings towards Ivanna. When she spoke, it seemed that she was speaking in her favor and at the same time not, so she didn’t know whether the latter wanted to save her or not.

“Thank you,” she said to Ivanna after the dagger was taken from her face.

Ivanna was stunned when she heard her thanking her. She felt pity for the latter. At the moment, she felt that she understood Nadia, she just behaved like that in the past cause she had been pampered. Cause she knew her grandparents and father hated her mother, she was afraid of being hated by them.

She had been there in her past life. She had treated her grandmother the way Nadia treated Citrine. The only difference was that the old woman never gave up on her, even when she was locked up in the house. Recalling all these, Ivanna sighed.

She took her handkerchief and wiped the tears in Nadia’s face before saying, “You know, I understand you a little bit. No one is an angel, even the woman whom they want to make seem like an angel.”

Everyone was speechless once more while Citrine was embarrassed by her daughter’s words.

“Since you know what you did was wrong, why not try changing yourself? Your behavior? Like him, he may be a bastard to you and everyone else, but do you know his father’s identity?” she asked as she pointed at Marcello.

Nadia glanced at Marcello, then shook her head, looking back at Ivanna as she seemed to feel calm with her. Not feel like the wealthy young lady but a young girl.

“You know her, right? She said that Marcello is her brother, which is true. What does it mean?” she asked again, shocking Nadia. She looked at Marcello, then at Isley. She also looked at her brothers, and when she saw how they were behaving, she knew that it was the truth. She felt like she had been struck by lightning; the person she despised the most had an identity and background she could only dream of.

“What if you never treated him like that? How could he treat you after he goes back to his family, mmh? He would have pampered you, but because you always looked down on him, he doesn’t care about you and doesn’t regard you as his sister the same way you don’t regard him as your brother,” Ivanna said, then sighed.

“In life, we live a cruel reality. Those we look down on are the ones who get blessed, those we curry favor with and help bully people are nothing regarding to the people you bully. You may never know everyone’s identity, and that’s why we treat everyone with respect, love, and equality. Cause we don’t know who will succeed and who will fail. Actually, even if they fail, there is something they have that you don’t. Do you understand what I mean?” she asked, and Nadia felt ashamed.

They were the same age, but Ivanna understood human nature too well. She didn’t go through any of that; she didn’t need to curry favor with anyone.

“Actually, I have been bullied in school too, you know,” Ivanna said with a chuckle, and Nadia lifted her head to look at her with surprise.

“I never reveal my identity to people. That’s why when I walk with my family members outside, I will wear a mask so that people may not see my real face and try currying favor with me when they see me next. In school, they are used to seeing my real face; they don’t know anything about the masks. I was bullied, beaten, my desk painted with ink and paint, poured dirty water, name all kinds of bullies you know. I went through them. I even have some burns on my body, but my family never knew about them. I never told them anything. Cause of it, I suffer from insomnia, can’t sleep even in the dark. You may think I don’t understand anything, but trust me, I do. Have my bullies ever thought that I have a powerful backing? By the time my eldest and third brother realized what was happening, it was kind of late for them, but to me it wasn’t. They were shocked, stunned, and they couldn’t believe that I had such a backing. What does this teach?” Ivanna said, making Nadia unable to stop looking at her.

She had been pampered since she was a kid, never went through any injustice, as her family was there with her. Though she and her brother didn’t get along, if something happened to her, they would make those who made her cry pay. That was till she started seeing herself as more important than them, she started avoiding and plotting against them. They gradually stopped caring about her.

She was just learning the harsh reality this week, where she had watched everything change and realised that the bright future she had was about to fade.

“So what if he doesn’t want to marry you?” Ivanna asked, making Nadia look at her weirdly.

“He loves you know. He wants to marry you,” Nadia said. She wasn’t stupid. She had been paying attention to everything and knew who Floyd loved.

“So what? Who said that there isn’t anyone who loves you too and wants to pamper you?” Ivanna asked in return, stunning Nadia as she had never thought of her. To her, she wanted the power that came with being Mrs Bennet.

She knew that those who chased after her loved her family background and not her. That’s why she felt Floyd was better, as he didn’t care about her family background and their little riches.

“In my life, we have that one person who loves us dearly and can do anything for us. Don’t feel bad or hate everyone cause of what’s happening. First of all, apologise to your brother, your mom, and your other brothers. Then promise me that after you go back home, you will think about what I have said and start working on yourself. Change, trust me, if you change to being a better version of yourself, not caring about anyone’s riches or what they think of you, you will find them liking you without you making any effort to please them,” Ivanna said.

“Why do your father and grandparents love Tyson, and he is always cold to them?” she asked, and Nadia fell into deep thought. The more she listened, the more she felt she had been stupid all this time.

Her grandparents were just using her to make things difficult for her mother and eldest brother. Her eyes were filled with tears. There was something she never told anyone. The school has always organized health check-ups every year. Her blood type was different from the rest of the family. She had always convinced herself that maybe her grandparents had her blood type, but after hearing Isley’s words, she became more suspicious.

She felt that Marcello was more of a better person than her, a fake heiress. If it were known, what would people regard her as? Won’t they laugh at her? Those she had bullied, would they use that as an opportunity to take revenge? Those who always surrounded her, won’t they run away so fast, not wanting to be associated with her? Her brother was lucky that he had true friends; their mother’s friends cared a lot about him.

“I am sorry, brother. You have always been way better than me,” she said as she bit her lips, afraid of blinking, afraid that she might start crying again.
