Chapter 168 Finally talking
Chapter 168 Finally talking
“At what time did my son come here?”
“About twenty-something minutes ago,” the secretary said after checking the time.
Cynthia nodded “You can leave.”
The secretary bowed her head and walked out.
Cynthia sighed in relief that he heard nothing. She could not afford him finding out how much of a devil she was and the things she has done.
Adrian drove at full speed and stopped by the side of the expressway. He hit his hand severely on the steering wheel and screamed loudly “Haaaa, haaaa!!”
“Damn you, Mother! Damn you!!!” Adrian screamed as he hit his hand. After screaming, he placed his head on the steering wheel and wept.
He wept loudly, his face stained with tears. He has not cried this much in his entire life. Even when his father, Henry, died, he did not cry this much. Among his parents, he had loved his mother the most and supported her in everything she did, so hearing all this had shattered him. Hearing he was the product of another man’s sperm broke him.
Right now, he felt like killing himself. He could not live with the knowledge of all this. How could he continue living, knowing he was not even the legitimate son of Henry?
For the first time, he would agree that Marcel’s hatred for his mother was very much justified. Marcel had seen through his mother and had even known she was an evil person. He had failed to see it because she was his mother.
Now he understood another reason why him and Marcel never got along, not even a bit. Not just because of his mother and his father’s mistakes, but because they never had a single blood relation in the first place, which was why they could easily become enemies.
He had no right to be in a competition with Marcel because Marcel was the real son and the real Malcolm. He, on the other hand, was the son of a stranger and nobody. He had no rights to the Malcolm Group.
Adrian pinched himself severely, wishing this was a dream and he could wake up. He wished this was a terrible nightmare. He could not bring himself to accept the truth. He couldn’t endure living with the knowledge that he was a nobody. His mother had caused a lot of harm. Jail was not enough for her. He would have to do something that would completely shatter her, and he knew what to do.
Two days later
“Wow, babe, your department is so beautiful,” Aurora admired the surroundings of his department. It was better than the business department, which was her department.
Marcel smiled “Yours is beautiful.”
“You are lying.” Aurora frowned at him.
Marcel laughed “Okay, fine. My department is fine, but then you can visit me here on school days.”
Aurora smiled and nodded. They had come to do their clearance. They had finished hers first and came to do his. They were done with his and were on the way to have lunch.
Marcel opened the front door for her, and she got in. He went to the driver’s side and got in.
“Aurora, you have to put your seat belt on,” Marcel said as he proceeded to help her with her seat belt.
“Thank you,” Aurora said with a smile.
“You are welcome, babe. I love helping you out so I can kiss you after.” Marcel kissed her.
Aurora smiled and kissed him back. They were both kissing when his phone rang.
Marcel growled. He sat back on his seat and looked at the caller. There was no name, just a number, but since he had a good memory, he immediately knew whose number it was. Adrian had called him with this number before.
Marcel stared at the number with a weird look on his face.
“What is it, Marcel? And who is that?” Aurora looked at his phone and saw it was an unknown caller, so why then did he have a serious face on?
“Marcel, do you know the person calling?”
Marcel looked at her and nodded.
“Is it work-related?”
Marcel shook his head “It’s Adrian.”
Aurora was surprised. She did not think they both had each other’s numbers since they never got along.
“Are you going to pick it?” Aurora asked.
Marcel nodded “Yes. The first time he called me, it was to tell me that Father was in the hospital. If he is calling again, then it means it’s important,” Marcel admitted.
Aurora nodded, “Then go on and pick it.”
Marcel clicked the call that had been ringing. He was quiet.
“Marcel, I know this call must have been a surprise. But I think it’s finally time for both of us to sit down and talk, to have a serious talk. And there are some important things I need to tell you too.”
Aurora heard what Adrian said since Marcel put it on speaker. Marcel looked at her. Aurora nodded for him to go on.
“Where do we meet?” Marcel asked.
“I will text you the location.” Adrian said
“Alright.”
Marcel ended the call. He was surprised.
“I did not expect him to say that.”
“I was surprised too. But maybe he is right. You both need to talk at least.” Aurora said.
Marcel nodded. He remembered how Adrian had voted against his mother in the chairmanship.
“Aurora, I haven’t told you something that happened during the board meeting.”
“What happened?” Aurora asked.
“Adrian voted against his mother.”
Aurora covered her mouth in shock “He did what? Wow, that’s a shocker. If I could remember, Adrian loves his mother so much. He is much closer to her and does everything she tells him. So hearing he went against her is very shocking because it’s unlike him. There must be a reason, Marcel, and I’m sure it’s part of the reason he wants to speak to you.”
“I suspect so too,” Marcel said. Marcel looked at his phone and saw he had already sent him the location. “I will drop you home, then head there to see him.”
Aurora nodded. After dropping her off, he headed to the location where he was going to meet Adrian.
He was meeting up with Adrian in a very hidden Chinese noodle shop in a market area.
Was he meeting him here so his mother wouldn’t know about it? Marcel wondered.
He got to the noodle shop, which was owned by an old couple, and looked around for Adrian. He saw Adrian sitting at a corner close to the window. He had a face cap on, which was why he was not quick to spot him.
Marcel walked to the table and sat down across from him.
Adrian raised his head up and looked at Marcel.
“Why did you pick this location?” Marcel asked him.
“It’s noisy, and the owners are traditional, so they do not fancy the latest gadgets in their noodle shop,” Adrian said.
Marcel understood what he meant, which was that there was nobody or technology like CCTV or microphones to listen to their conversation.
“Why are you being so cautious?” Marcel asked him.
Adrian smiled “Don’t you want to know why I voted against my Mother?”
