Chapter 14

Cassandra walked into the grand ballroom with the grace and elegance of an angel. The crowd's chatter slowly faded as all eyes turned towards her. She looked absolutely stunning, her perfectly tailored gown glistening under the lights. Her long, silky black hair flowed like a waterfall down her back, and her confident strides commanded the room’s attention. She was the epitome of poise and power, a woman reborn from the ashes of her past.

As I watched her, pride swelled within me. This was the moment we had been meticulously planning for months, and Cassandra was more than ready to play her part. However, her entrance did not go unnoticed by everyone. As she made her way through the throng of attendees, she was intercepted by none other than Lily and Rachel.

“Well, well, well,” Lily sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Look who decided to grace us with her presence. Still pretending to be someone you're not, Cassandra?”

Rachel added, her tone equally condescending, “Did you think you could just waltz in here and everything would be fine? You’re just a washed-up reject.”

Cassandra remained unruffled, a picture of calmness and grace. She smiled politely, her eyes steady and serene. “It’s good to see you both,” she said softly, her voice a calm counterpoint to their hostility.

Lily’s eyes narrowed. “Don’t think for a second that you can come here and disrupt our lives. You’re nothing, Cassandra.”

Ignoring their venom, Cassandra gave a slight nod and moved past them. Their attempts to belittle her were nothing more than a mild annoyance. She had a bigger mission tonight, and nothing would divert her from it.

She ascended the steps to the podium with unwavering poise. The room fell into a hush, all eyes now on her. Taking a deep breath, she began to speak.

“Good evening, everyone,” she said, her voice clear and confident. “I wanted to take this opportunity to address something important. After careful consideration, I have decided that I cannot cooperate with individuals who conduct themselves in such a manner.”

A murmur of confusion rippled through the crowd. Cassandra continued, “Therefore, I am officially calling off the contract with the Cross family and their associates.”

Gasps echoed around the room as the magnitude of her announcement sank in. Alexander’s face contorted with shock and disbelief.

At that moment, I stepped forward, drawing the crowd's attention. “Allow me to introduce Cassandra Tiffins,” I said, my voice ringing out across the hall. “My wife, who has been abroad building T-Dollar Exchange Company into a global powerhouse.”

Cassandra walked over to me, her face glowing with pride and satisfaction. We kissed, a brief but powerful gesture that sealed our partnership in the eyes of everyone present. I could see the burning rage in Alexander’s eyes, his fury barely contained. He hadn't expected his ex-wife to reappear as a successful, beautiful billionaire.

The reporters, ever hungry for sensational news, broadcasted the entire scene live. Within moments, the news of our announcement and Alexander’s humiliation spread like wildfire across every major news channel. Investors began withdrawing their support from the Cross Company, unwilling to associate with a firm now tainted by scandal and instability.

As the party drew to an abrupt end, Alexander and his family stormed out, their faces etched with anger and disbelief. The drive back to their house was tense, the silence in the car heavy with unspoken accusations.

As soon as they arrived, Alexander couldn’t contain his fury any longer. “You!” he shouted at Lily, his voice echoing off the walls. “This is all your fault! You assured me everything was under control, and now look at the mess we’re in!”

Lily tried to protest, her voice trembling. “Alexander, I didn’t know—”

“Enough!” he cut her off, turning his rage towards Rachel. “And you, Rachel. You’ve been nothing but a burden. You encouraged this whole charade with Lily, and now we’re paying the price!”

Rachel’s eyes filled with tears. “Alexander, please, I—”

“I don’t want to hear it!” he snapped. “Both of you have ruined everything. The investors are pulling out, and our reputation is in shambles. How could you let this happen?”

Alexander stormed into the adjoining room, slamming the door behind him. He needed a moment to collect his thoughts, to figure out how everything had gone so wrong. His mind raced, filled with images of Cassandra’s triumphant return and the smug look on my face.

Meanwhile, back at the party, Cassandra and I were basking in the success of our plan. We had exposed Alexander and his family’s true nature, and now, we were ready to take the next step.

“Cassandra,” I said, turning to her with a smile. “It’s time to put the final piece of our plan into action.”

She nodded, understanding exactly what I meant. We made our way to a quiet corner of the hotel, where Alexander’s newfound friend, a rising businessman named Michael, was waiting.

“Michael,” Cassandra greeted him warmly. “I have a proposition for you. As you know, the contract with the Cross family has been called off. I believe you have the skills and the vision to take over this opportunity.”

Michael’s eyes widened in surprise. “You mean it? This is an incredible chance.”

“Absolutely,” I said, my voice steady. “We believe in your potential, Michael. And we know that this contract will not only benefit you but also serve to disrupt Alexander’s remaining alliances.”

Michael shook our hands eagerly. “Thank you, both of you. I won’t let you down.”

As we watched him leave, I felt a deep sense of satisfaction. By giving the contract to Michael, we were ensuring that Alexander would be isolated, his support network fractured. It was the perfect setup for his ultimate downfall.

### ALEXANDER ROOM ###

Alexander’s anger had not abated. He paced the room, his mind churning with thoughts of revenge. Lily and Rachel huddled together, their expressions a mix of fear and regret.

“This isn’t over,” Alexander muttered to himself. “I’ll find a way to turn this around. I’ll make them pay.”

But deep down, he knew that he was standing on shaky ground. His empire was crumbling, and his enemies were closing in. The realization that Cassandra was now a powerful, independent force was a bitter pill to swallow.

As time passed, Alexander’s thoughts turned darker. He couldn’t shake the image of Cassandra and Teddy, their completed victory . He knew he had to act quickly if he wanted to salvage anything from the wreckage of his life.

★★★ TAFFINS COMPANY ★★★

The next morning, Cassandra and I felt a renewed sense of purpose. The events of the previous night had set the stage for Alexander’s inevitable downfall. We met with our legal team, preparing the final documents that would ensure the transfer of the contract to Michael. Every detail was meticulously planned, every contingency accounted for. We were leaving nothing to chance.

As we left the office, I looked at Cassandra, my partner in every sense of the word. “This is it,” I said. “The beginning of the end for the Cross family.”

She nodded, her expression determined. “We’ve come this far, Teddy. There’s no turning back now.”

The Cross family had taken everything from Cassandra, but now, it was her turn to take everything from them.

The path to revenge was never easy, but with me by her side, we knew we would emerge victorious. And as Alexander watched his world crumble around him, he would finally understand the true cost of betrayal.
