Chapter 75
I walked to the bedside, placed the lunch box on the nightstand, and forced a gentle expression onto my face, my voice softening considerably."Mitchell, I was wrong yesterday. I shouldn't have doubted you. After going through life and death, I've finally realized that everything else is fleeting. Only the person willing to risk their life for me is the most worthy of cherishing."
Mitchell's eyes widened, and he stared at me blankly.
I lowered my head, twisting the corner of my clothes. "I was too stubborn before. Actually, you've always been the best to me."
Mitchell was overjoyed to hear this and struggled to take my hand. "Seraphine! You finally understand! I knew it! You still have feelings for me!"
I took a timely step back, avoiding his hand, and looked up, my gaze sincere.
"Mitchell, we can start over, but,"I deliberately paused, looking at Mitchell's eager eyes."After so many things, I really don't feel secure. If you want to prove that you're sincere to me and want to put me completely at ease, why don't you transfer five percent of your Stafford Group shares to my name?"
Mitchell froze immediately.
I sighed. "This way, I can feel your sincerity and know that you really want to spend the rest of your life with me, not like before."
After speaking, I carefully observed his expression.
Sure enough, upon hearing my request for shares, the ecstasy on Mitchell's face instantly froze.
A clear hesitation and calculation flashed in his eyes.
"Seraphine, the matter of the shares is a bit complicated. It involves the family and the board of directors."Mitchell began to stammer, looking for excuses.
I sneered inwardly.
See? When it came to real core interests, his so-called deep affection immediately seemed pale and powerless.
"It's okay,"I smiled understandingly, my tone carrying a hint of coercion. "You can take your time to consider. When you've thought it through, we can talk about getting back together."
With that, I stopped looking at Mitchell's conflicted face and turned to leave the hospital room.
The bait had been cast. Now it was just a matter of whether he would bite.
I turned, my footsteps not yet out of the room, when Mitchell's eager voice came from behind.
"Seraphine!"
I stopped and slowly turned back.
Mitchell gritted his teeth, as if he had made a decision, his eyes fervent. "Okay, I promise you! I'll transfer the Stafford Group shares to you. As long as you can come back to me, what are a few shares!"
The fish had taken the bait!
I sneered inwardly, a little surprised.
I had thought Mitchell would consider it and not be so unhesitating.
I hadn't even left, and he had already agreed.
He was really willing to go all out.
I showed an expression of disbelief. "Mitchell, are you serious? Are you really willing to transfer the shares to me?"
"Of course, I'll contact a lawyer right now to prepare the documents!"Mitchell immediately picked up his phone, eager to transfer the shares.
Just then, the hospital room door was thrown open, and Brielle burst in angrily.
It seemed she had overheard everything from outside.
Brielle pointed at Mitchell and scolded, "Mitchell, are you crazy? You're going to give her the Stafford family's shares! Do you know what that means?"
Mitchell, who had been ecstatic, was furious at Brielle's interruption.
He retorted, "Brielle! When did my affairs become your business? I'm giving Seraphine the shares to prove my sincerity! Who are you to be shouting here?"
"Who am I?" Brielle was completely enraged by his words and exploded. "If it weren't for me helping you with your plans, would you be where you are today? Now you're going to give away the family's assets for this bitch? Have you forgotten our previous plan!"
"Plan? What plan!" Mitchell was flustered and guilty, quickly gesturing for Brielle to shut up.
He spoke without thinking, "What's the use of your little calculations? In the end, it was me risking my life to save Seraphine that won her back! What can you do besides hold me back!"
"I'm holding you back? Mitchell, you ungrateful scumbag!"
"Brielle, shut up! You have no right to speak here!"
The two of them, like dogs whose tails had been stepped on, started tearing at each other in the hospital room without any regard for their image.
I stood to the side, completely amazed.
What was going on?
In my past life, Mitchell had been completely infatuated with Brielle. How could he be fighting with her like an enemy now?
I watched this spectacular farce with a cold eye, a little impatient, and pretended to be anxious. "Stop fighting. Mitchell, let's just forget about the shares. I don't want you two to fight because of me."
"No!"Mitchell was in a rage, and with my persuasion, he was even more determined to prove himself.
He pushed away the still shouting Brielle and roared at the lawyer who had rushed in, "Where are the documents! Bring them here, I'll sign them now!"
The lawyer timidly handed over the share transfer agreement.
Mitchell didn't even look at the specific terms and signed his name in the designated place.
"Seraphine, it's your turn!"He handed me the pen, his eyes eager.
I took the pen and, under Brielle's almost murderous gaze, signed my name on the agreement.
The agreement was effective.
I held the agreement and gave Brielle, whose face was ashen, a meaningful smile."Brielle, I've disappointed you."
Brielle gritted her teeth. "What do you want with the Stafford family's shares?"
"That's none of your business."I raised an eyebrow. "I'm going to report to the Stafford Group first. I won't chat with you anymore. You two take your time. Don't fight."
With that, I stopped looking at Mitchell on the bed and turned to leave the hospital room.
As soon as I left the hospital, I immediately called Soren.
"Get the car ready. We're going to the Stafford Group! And bring the channel resources and customer lists of the Stafford Group."
Half an hour later.
As a new shareholder of the Stafford Group, I arrived directly at the Stafford Group headquarters.
Soren and a few capable employees also arrived and went straight to the operations management department.
I presented the share transfer agreement and, according to my rights as a shareholder, directly announced that I would temporarily take over some of the core resources of the Stafford Group for integration.
The management and shareholders of the Stafford Group were caught off guard, and there was an uproar.
Someone immediately called Mitchell, who was still in the hospital.
"Seraphine, why are you directly using the company's resources? You didn't really want to get back together with me, were you? Are you playing me!"
I listened to Mitchell's furious roar and smiled calmly.
"Mitchell," I said coolly, "I've accepted the shares, and I'll gladly accept the resources as well."
"Seraphine, you played me? It was all an act?" Mitchell was almost going crazy on the other end.
"What else?"I chuckled. "Did you think that after you and Brielle betrayed me together, I would still have any feelings for a person like you?"
"You..."
"Don't be so quick to get angry," I interrupted him. "I've sent something to your email as a return gift. Remember to check it."
With that, I hung up and sent the video of Octavius's bodyguard interrogating the van driver directly to Mitchell's private email.
On the way here, I had asked Octavius for this video.
Imagining Mitchell's wonderful expression when he saw the video, I felt cheerful and began to take over the work.
These channel resources could just make up for the shortcomings of the Whitaker Group in related fields.
I planned to give a portion of them to Octavius as a token of my sincerity and gratitude for our cooperation.
He had helped me so much. I should show my appreciation.
I hoped Octavius would like this surprise.
After I had arranged everything, Mitchell called again.
On the other end of the line, Mitchell's attitude had taken a 180-degree turn.
He began to beg me in panic.
