Chapter 99

Cathy’s life must really be extraordinary.

“I don’t care about the grudge between you and Cathy. She’s with me now, and I will protect her!” lan said, obviously riot in the mood to continue talking to Sherry.

After saying that, he got into his car and drove away.

Watching the retreating car, Sherry chuckled softly.

As she laughed, tears rolled down her cheeks, one drop after another.

She had said before that she wouldn’t shed another tear for Ian. But when she heard him fiercely protect Cathy like this, it still hurt.

With these words, he trampled on her, turning all the efforts she had made for him into a joke.

What a joke.

When Sherry was feeling upset, Cathy wasn’t any happier either. She lay on her bed, her beautiful face filled with sadness.

Linda sat helplessly by her side, gently touching her forehead. “Didn’t we resolve the crisis? Why are you still feeling upset? Look, as soon as I called Mr. Kemnis, he rushed over here. He’s treating you as important as before, which is a good thing, right?”

“You don’t understand!” Cathy weakly responded.

No one understood her thoughts. The more Ian cared for her, the more she felt like a thief, stealing someone else’s credit and enjoying it for free.

She had always been proud and had a sense of self–esteem, and this situation was hard for her to accept.

“It’s all your fault! Why did you persuade me to impersonate as his cornea donor? If you hadn’t come up with this idea, everything wouldn’t have turned out like this!” She growled with resentment.

Linda’s face reddened, quickly apologizing, “I admit that it was my fault. I didn’t expect Sherry to find out and have Diana expose you. But Cathy, isn’t this matter already settled?”

Linda didn’t know about the past between Sherry and Ian, nor did she know that for all these years, Cathy had been mistaken by Ian as the “big–eyed girl” from the past, taking Sherry’s place and enjoying the good days.

She also didn’t know that Cathy knew about all of this.

Cathy covered her face tightly.

She still wanted to be angry.

If it weren’t for Linda’s actions, she wouldn’t have been exposed by Diana, and if she hadn’t been exposed, she wouldn’t have had to impersonate the “big–eyed girl” herself.

She could have continued to live with grace and pride.

But she knew that she couldn’t get angry anymore. If she did, it would raise Linda’s suspicions, and if the past was revealed again, she would lose even more face.

The things about Sherry being the “big–eyed girl,” her being mistaken for the “big–eyed girl” by Ian, and her voluntarily claiming credit for someone else’s accomplishments–even her best friend Linda mustn’t know about it!

Taking a deep breath, she looked at Linda. “I’m feally sorry, Linda. I didn’t mean to get angry with you. Actually, it was for my own good that you came up with the cornea idea, wanting to help me. It was my impulsiveness and thoughtless words. Linda, you’re not mad at me, right?”

Her tone was gentle, with a hint of pitifulness. She gently shook Linda’s arm.

Cathy was Linda’s goddess, the most perfect image, so how could Linda be angry with her?

Linda shook her head, “It’s actually my fault. If I hadn’t acted on my own, you wouldn’t have faced such an embarrassing situation. Don’t worry, I will talk to Mr. Kemnis and clear up the misunderstanding between you two.”

Chapter 99

“No, there’s no need for that, Linda. You didn’t do anything wrong.” Cathy tried to persuade her, “The situation has already turned out like this. Listen to me, don’t do anything else.”

The more Cathy acted like this, the more guilty 1.inda felt, and the more determined she was to help Cathy clear her name.

She didn’t say anything on the surface and stayed with Cathy for a while before leaving.

After closing the door, a faint smile of success appeared on Cathy’s beautiful and glamorous face.

She understood Linda and knew that she would go to Ian to shoulder all the responsibility.

Although Ian had forgiven her because she was the “big–eyed girl,” this matter would still create a rift between them.

Only if Linda took the initiative to take the blame could their relationship return to normal.

“Linda, this is really your own bad idea, not my fault,” Cathy thought to herself, believing that she had a clear sense of right and wrong and felt not a trace of guilt.
