Chapter 48
I watched in horror as the female fan, who had been hiding in bed for the longest time, suddenly climbed onto the window. She sat at the open window with one leg already hanging out, swaying dangerously.
Fredrica was completely petrified and forgot to react.
John, on the other hand, quickly rushed to the window.
But every time he tried to reach her, she would lean further out, creating a life–threatening situation!
“John, come back.” I said, trying to calm my own emotions as I spoke to him.
John looked at the female fan anxiously.
I shook my head at him.
With him around, the female fan would only get more agitated.
John reluctantly stepped back.
I walked to a spot about two meters away from the female fan. “What’s going on? Why did it suddenly come to this?” I asked.
The female fan’s sobbing didn’t stop. “I know now that, because of me, John may never be able to do live broadcasts again. I am guilty and don’t deserve to live.”
“This has nothing to do with you. Come down,” I said.
The female fan shook her head repeatedly. “Stop comforting me. It’s because of me that this happened.”
On the other side, Fredrica looked at the female fan being so stubborn and couldn’t help but scold her, “Do you think that dying will solve everything? If you die, John will have even more troubles. How can you do this to him?“”
“Hu, hu, hu.” Fredrica’s scolding only made the female fan ev
more at a loss, and she cried even harder.
Her body was trembling, and a gust of wind could easily blow her away.
I had a terrible headache.
“Think it through. We’re on the tenth floor. If you fall from here, your skull will burst open and shatter into many pieces. There won’t be any face left; it will all be covered in blood. By then, they’ll be sending you to the morgue with your brain matter mixed in. Your own mother won’t even recognize you,” I said sharply.
The female fan’s swaying body froze in place upon hearing these words.
Her hand instinctively went to touch her face.
After all, she was a delicate and beautiful young lady. How could she bear such a gruesome death?
Seizing the opportunity while she was stunned, I rushed forward and held her waist tightly, pulling her back.
With the help of Fredrica and John, we managed to bring the female fan to a safe place.
After comforting the female fan for a while, she was led away under Fredrica’s arrangement, rubbing her red and teary eyes.
In the room, only the three of us were left.
John rubbed his hair in frustration.
He had just taken a shower and came out to find a female fan in the room.
And to make matters worse, he was caught in the act by Ian.
He couldn’t describe how frustrated he felt.

I walked over and squeezed his shoulder. “Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to handle this, and it won’t affect you,” I reassured him.
“No need, Sister Sherry,” John spoke up. “I hate being manipulated the most. tan is trying to pressure you through me; he must be dreaming.”
“I happen to be tired of being a live streamer and decided to go back home to inherit the billions of my family’s assets, and I’ll be much more comfortable!” John’s family background was excellent, but he had some conflicts with his family and didn’t want to take over the family business. Instead, he thrived in the live streaming industry.
“Don’t talk nonsense!” I naturally knew he wasn’t telling the truth.
“Don’t forget, my company relies on you to carry the main weight. If you leave, am I supposed to drink the NorthKemnis wind?”
For someone to achieve John’s level in live streaming and product sales, it was far more profitable than inheriting the family fortune.
A good live streamer can easily surpass the total offline sales of a certain industry in the entire city within minutes.
“Don’t worry, I’ve already taken care of lan. Just focus on your live stream and stop overthinking,” I assured John.
Upon hearing that I had dealt with lan, John still looked worried. “Sister Sherry, you didn’t agree to any unfair terms with him, did you?”
“No, I didn’t,” I replied.
John wanted to ask more, but I had someone change his room for the night.
“Get a good night’s sleep and be full of energy to make money for me tomorrow!”
Under normal circumstances, John would have cracked a few jokes, but tonight his mood was not good, so he just nodded and left.
Once we were alone, Fredrica asked anxiously, “Is everything really resolved?”
I naturally wouldn’t hide anything from her, and I shook my head.
“What should we do then? If Ian can come up with such schemes, there’s nothing he can’t do.”
“Don’t worry,” I reassured her with a soothing look. “Although I can’t resolve this issue myself, there are people who will take care of it for me.”
If my guess was correct, the figure I saw in the corridor earlier should be Cathy.
If she was clever enough, she should know what was best for her.
I chatted with Fredrica for a while. Considering the possibility of malicious people seeing and spreading rumors about the female fan, Fredrica decided to stay in the hotel for the night.
I walked out alone.
Just as I reached the elevator, a graceful figure appeared.
The person was dressed in all black, with their head and face well covered.
However, I recognized her at a glance–it was Cathy.
Cathy calmly entered the elevator with me, and it was only after the elevator doors closed that she spoke, “Miss Sherry, can we talk?”
“Sure.”
After we descended the stairs, Cathy led me to a dim and deserted corner before turning around.
She removed her sunglasses, revealing a beautiful face.
“I’ve already resolved tonight’s matter for Miss Sherry. Considering I helped you plead with Ian, I won’t pursue it any further,” Cathy said.
As I had anticipated.
After she finished speaking, she fell silent and merely glanced at me over her sunglasses.
A faint trace of superiority flickered in her slightly raised eye.

My gaze was indifferent, showing no sign of surprise or gratitude that Cathy might have hoped for. I simply responded with a calm “Oh.”
Cathy couldn’t help but sneer.
She truly was from a small place. After helping her so much, she didn’t even know how to say “thank you.”
Being someone who held herself in high regard, Cathy naturally wouldn’t ask for thanks. She turned to leave.
With a graceful figure, she took a few steps before stopping again.
Oh, by the way, lan has a bad temper. Miss Sherry, it’s better if you don’t appear in front of him in the future.”
1 chuckled disdainfully.
Since the moment of our divorce, I had already removed lan from my world. How could I even think of appearing in front of him?
Just now, Cathy had been waiting for me to thank her, and I had noticed it.
I didn’t express gratitude because it was unnecessary.
Firstly, though she had only helped lan back then, without saying those things, Cathy would have been kicked out of the company long ago, losing her glamorous position.
Cathy also owed me a thank you.
Furthermore, Cathy’s willingness to speak in front of Ian wasn’t for my sake but rather for her own.
In the end, Ian had to cut off all ties with me and Iris for Cathy to live happily and freely in that household.
I had not left home for long when my phone started ringing.
It was Iris calling.
Being out so late, the little one was worried.
I hurriedly reassured her with a few comforting words and said, “I’m on my way back now.”
As soon as I finished speaking, my arm was suddenly grabbed, and my whole body was dragged into the darkness.
