Chapter 147 Chapter 147

Chapter 147 Chapter 147
After I told Owen that he could tell me what he wanted to, silence remained between us. Owen didn't say anything and it made me feel uncomfortable. Why wasn't he talking? He had just said that he wanted to tell me something. I didn't push further. I decided to let it come naturally. If he wanted to tell me something, he would have simply told me. I didn't try to remind him.

“Are you and Lucian close?” Owen said finally.

I narrowed my eyes. I wasn't sure where this was leading.

“I mean, I've been seeing both of you together most of the time. I just wanted to know.”

“Yeah. We are friends,” I responded.

Owen remained quiet for a while and it made me feel a bit uncomfortable. What was it that he had to say that was difficult for him to say ?

“Can I confide in you? I want to tell you something and I want you to assure me that you wouldn't tell anyone else about it.”

I hesitated for a few seconds before answering Owen. “Okay.”

I wondered what he wanted to tell me that was such a secret. I wondered if it was something about his family who hated him and used him. I had felt sorry for Owen after hearing that conversation in the lab.

“I have had a crush on Lucian for a long while now. I was thinking you could help me out as you're close to him.”

I raised a brow in pure surprise. What Owen had said wasn't on the list of any of my guesses. I couldn't believe what I had heard. I almost chuckled but I didn't because I didn't want Owen to feel I was laughing at him.

Owen was sitting here telling me this because he didn't know that I and Lucian were dating. It was funny and also ironic. I wondered if I should tell him that I and Lucian were already a couple. No, I shouldn't. I brushed the thought off. I decided to hear more from him.

“Wow. That's a huge crush, but I think Lucian already has a boyfriend.”

“Really?” Owen said and pouted his lips. I could see the look of disappointment on his face. “It's fine. Crushes aren't even a real thing.”

He sat on the bed and leaned against the wall and held his book in his hand and looked at it.

I sighed. I wondered how he would feel if I told him that I was Lucian's boyfriend. Will he build resentment towards me because I had something that he wanted. I decided to keep shut. He might find out about it later and may be shocked about it.

“How long have you liked Lucian?”

Owen looked up from the book as I asked that question. A smile appeared on his face and he looked like he was almost blushing.

“I've liked him for a long while,” He said shyly. “Since I came into Ravenholt, I've had my eyes on him, but I thought he was straight, but you've just told me he's dating a man, so now I know he also does men, but I still can't have him because he's in a relationship.”

“Oh wow. But you can try someone else. There could be someone who likes you.”

Owen chuckled. “And how am I supposed to know that? Sniff it out like a wizard?”

I shrugged. “There could be a way to know.”

Neither of us spoke for a long while and I concluded that the conversation had ended. Owen returned his focus to the book and this time, he was smiling while reading the book which made me wonder what the content of the book was.

I took out my phone and I saw a message from my brother. “Hey Ethan. I heard what happened at home. Why didn't you bother telling me?”

I was short of words. I didn't know what to say and another message came in. “Mum said that dad threw you out because of your sexuality. Why didn't you tell me all these? Why did you decide to hide it?”

I took a deep breath and stared at my phone screen. I was about to respond when a new message came in. “Where are you right now?”

I texted back. “I'm at the academy.”

I looked at my phone, there wasn't any response. I waited for a few minutes before checking again. There still wasn't any response. I set the phone aside. I didn't know what my brother's plans were. Was he planning to come visit me at the academy? Had he accepted my sexuality or did he want to condemn me like my father did.

I knew the truth. I knew that my father didn't throw me out of the house for being in a relationship with a man. I was sure that throwing me out was something he already wanted to do for a long while and he finally had the chance to do it.

Gosh. Theo hated me. Even after I left the academy, I wasn't going to go home. I was going to show him that I could live on my own and become a better person. He was going to watch me succeed and have nothing to do about it.

But I couldn't help but think about my mum. She was stuck there with that bastard who didn't spare a chance to maltreat her when he got the opportunity. I wanted to be by her side to protect her. I wanted her to get a divorce and go away from my father. I wanted all these, but it seemed like my mother wasn't going to divorce my father anytime soon.

I didn't know what the problem was. I didn't know if she was scared of what people would say. I didn't even know if she still loved him and didn't want to divorce him.

I sighed and looked at my phone screen again. There wasn't any message from my brother yet. I looked at Owen whose attention was in a book. He had just told me he was crushing on my boyfriend and that was the most ironic thing I had ever heard.

I looked at the door, it twisted and Marcus walked in. “Hey guys.”

We turned to him. He was sweaty like he had been training. He headed towards the bathroom.
