Chapter 8 Chapter 0008

Chapter 8 Chapter 0008
•ANEIRA•

I kept pacing, waiting for Sandra to open the door and bring me food like usual at 8 AM.

I couldn’t bear the thought of being in my room the entire day anymore. I felt like I would lose my mind if I stayed one more hour.

I could barely breathe because the four walls were closing in on me. I was suffocating and wondering when Rafael would let me go.

When I heard the door creak open, I jumped and turned to the door, rushing to Sandra’s side.

“How long is Rafael planning to keep me inside here? I am losing my mind, Sandra, and I can’t bear another week without leaving this room.”

She placed the food on the counter and sighed as she turned to me. “I’m sorry, Miss Narra, but I’m not supposed to say anything to you. Master Rafael has restrained me from communicating with you. He told me that this is part of your punishment.”

“Bullshit,” I frowned. “Tell him this is bullshit and I won’t let him keep me in this room like his prisoner. Here—” I took the food and gave it to her. “Take this to him because I won’t eat anything he wants me to eat. He should shove this food down his throat.”

“Miss Narra, I don’t advise you to do that. Master Rafael—”

“Stop fucking calling him that!” I groaned.

Gosh, I felt as if I would lose my mind.

It shocked me because she didn’t do that when it used to be just us in the room.

She made him look like someone who should be feared and worshipped, which I wouldn’t even do with a gun to my head.

Sandra quickly hurried to the door and left with the food. I was hungry, and my stomach was rumbling, but I didn’t want to eat anything until Rafael released me.

I stayed in my room, slept, and woke up around noon and found food on the counter again, but I didn’t dare touch it, though I could feel myself getting a headache.

I drank water from the bottle that Sandra brought with the food, and when she came for the tray and found the food untouched, she glanced at me, shook her head, and left with it.

I was about to get into bed when the door creaked open, and I rolled my eyes, thinking it was Sandra.

“Close the door behind you, Sandra, and don’t bring me food in the morning because I won’t eat it.”

“If you want to starve yourself, go ahead, but I won’t allow you to kill yourself with hunger in my house!” he roared after closing the door, and I leaned back, feeling my heart racing.

“I don’t want your food. What’s the problem with that? If you don’t want me to kill myself with hunger in your house, then let me go. I don’t want to be here anyway, and I don’t want food cooked in your house.” I folded my arms across my chest and pretended his presence wasn’t intimidating me.

Rafael was a feared man in Los Angeles. Everyone knew the people he killed and his history in the mafia world.

So, when my sister was engaged to him, I thought she knew what she was getting herself into and didn’t want to ask questions about them.

Besides, Narra would’ve told me to mind my business and stop meddling in hers.

“Fine. If you want to die, then die!” He roared before he turned around, walked to the door, and slammed it behind him.

I gulped and sat on the bed.

Since things had gotten this far, I picked up my cell phone and called Chris.

He chuckled when he picked up the cell phone.

“I knew it was you, Aneira. Telling Rafael that you’re Narra was creative, which makes me wonder if he knows you’re fooling him. What’s the plan, huh? Is this how low you’re willing to go because of what I did? Are you punishing me?”

Oh, how I wished I were punishing him. Rafael locked me up in my room and made sure I couldn’t get out. There was nothing worse than that.

“I want you to come and get me from Rafael, Chris. He’s holding me hostage in his house, and I don’t want to be here anymore. Please tell me there’s something you can do about it.”

“Why is he holding you hostage, Aneira? It seemed to me you wanted to leave with him. You didn’t want to talk to me. If he were holding you hostage, you would’ve left with me before he got to us.”

“You don’t understand, Chris. Please, can you get me away from here? I wouldn’t ask you this if it weren’t serious. You’re the only one who can help me.”

“Ugh—”

Before I could hear his response, Rafael walked in and took the cell phone from me.

I froze and let him lift it to his ear. I couldn’t even say a word or stop him.

“Hello?”

“Hello? Who is this?” I could hear Chris asking on the other end of the line, and my chest tightened.

I felt like my only chance of escaping had slipped through my fingers.

“I won’t ask you your name or where you’re calling from, but I will tell you that if I catch you talking with my wife on the phone again, I will hunt for you, and when I find you, I will end your life. Do you understand?” He hung up the call and threw it on the bed, and I was relieved he didn’t wait for Chris to call me by my real name.

I got on my knees and wrapped my hands around Rafael’s leg, crying.

“Please don’t lock me up here anymore. I can’t take it. I want my life back, Rafael, and if I must give you a son before you give it back to me, then I’ll have a son for you.”

He looked down at me and scoffed. “Have you changed your mind about starving yourself to death in my house?”

“Please, I can do whatever you want, if only you promise to let me go. I can—" I paused. "I can have your child."
