Chapter 26 25

Chapter 26 25
Chapter Twenty Five

Quillon
After showing Soleil where my usual cabin is, I didn't bother giving her a tour inside and left her shouting curses at me outside the cabin door.
She was mad, alright, and I get why she felt that way. I also knew I needed to do what I did, hiding some facts from her, scaring her... That latter wasn't necessary, but well, it was entertaining.
The angry yelling and dagger-like glare weren't close to entertainment, and I had the need to get out of her way, so I did.
Don't get me started with the cabin I've been using ever since I can remember, and being in that same studio-type cabin with my mate. Gun to my head.
I headed straight to Dylan's library because I knew he'd be there waiting for a report. He knew I never came for unannounced visits, unless it's an emergency.
"Any survivor?" Dylan asked, raising a brow as I sat on a couch facing him.
"And let them report back to Zeron? Come on. I'd never let a soul slip, you knew me better than that."
He hmm-ed and shrugged. "Time could make one rusty, and Shade might have mentioned you needed some honing."
I rolled my eyes.
"Shade and his ammo of shits are unlimited, why believe him? No rusting here, I assure you." I sighed and leaned my back against the couch.
"And the girl?"
I froze upon the mention of Soleil, but quickly recovered, and masked my face with a bored expression.
Shade wouldn't tell Dylan that Soleil was my mate. I knew that because I don't doubt my friend. But still, talking about her makes me uneasy.
"What about her?"
"You brought her here." He paused, squinting his eyes at me. "You have a reason, right?"
I shrugged. "She needed a place to stay. Soleil became a neighbor at my latest hideout, and she can't stay out there anymore. Zeron's hunters will surely check that place. They could be there now as we speak."
"I understand the part that her life could be in danger because of your troubles, but why bring her here? Can't she wander on her own?"
My jaw tightened.
Yes, Soleil could and she wanted to part ways with me but I don't think that's a good idea. Being away from my mate and all the shit happening with my wolf and control didn't like the idea of her being gone.
I didn't answer Dylan.
"Kat told me things about this girl, you know. She suspects that the girl was a member of the Otens Pack."
I snorted. "She's of age, not a girl, Dy." I don't know why I said that, and quickly added, "Even if she was an Otens werewolf, she already knew how shitty the pack was. Especially to women. If she really belonged there before, she must be grateful that I put an end to that pack."
"So you also think she's from Otens pack?"
I snorted. "No. She's not from there. And even if she was, I'd know."
Now I'm the one full of shits because there's no way I'd know. I exhaled, tilting my head to the side and averted my eyes to the side of Dylan's head.
"No need to defend her, I don't doubt your judgment of people and this girl--"
My teeth clenched tightly and I groaned irritably upon hearing that word from Dylan's mouth again.
"Soleil, Dylan. She's not 'this girl' or 'that girl', her name is Soleil."
Dylan pursed my lips, staring at me for long seconds that made me uncomfortable. When he slowly nodded his head, I felt relieved.
"Kat also said you cared for her. Huh. I can't believe she was right." He smiled.
Kat was a terrible rumor-monger. I'd bet Dylan was more surprised that Kat got something right than the fact that I do care for Soleil.
And I do. I care for her. She's my mate and even if I don't want to, I will always care for her.
I don't need to confirm it to him, though.
"Does your stay have a timeline?" He changes the conversation.
I shook my head. "I don't have a plan yet, but I'll make sure your role and the pack won't be jeopardized by my stay."
"Hm. I don't really care about that part, Kill. I know you take precautions. And, I would die fighting that coward Alpha King if he ever tries to take me off my throne." He smirked. "You and Soleil can stay at the cabin for as long as you like."
For the last few years, since Zeron hunted me like a rabbit, every pack that formed an alliance with me was taken over by the high council.
Zeron assigns a new Alpha in any pack that welcomed me or offered their loyalty to ally with me.
It was also the reason why I've gone rogue.
"Thank you, Dylan. I'll let you know how long we'll stay soon."
"Sure. Oh, and if you can, it would be better if you stay out of my son's radar until he completes mastering the SS."
"Oh, yeah, how's Draco doing?"
Dylan sighed. "I'm not sure what's wrong. The transfer went smoothly, but it's the sightseeker who's resisting. Its giving him a hard time, and he was too stubborn to open himself more to accommodate the gift. I've been telling him to let the gift lourd him over. Now that I think about it, maybe it was Draco who was resisting and not the SS. Ah," He waved his hand. "I've talked too much. He was fine. Just don't let him see you for another couple of days."
I nodded my head.
Draco hated my guts and his anger shouldn't be triggered while in the process of mastering the sightseeker.
I don't know why he hates my gut, no one knew, he just does. It's another mystery waiting to be cracked.
"He's always at his place, and sometimes visiting the Hall, so avoid those places until further notice." He added.
"Got it."
"Alright. I'll let you rest. Breakfast will be served at the cabin in an hour. You good with that?"
I rolled my eyes and stood up. "No need to pamper us early morning, Dylan. I think we'll sleep first. Soleil was a walking zombie on our way to the cabin."
Dylan chuckled and shook his head. I didn't ask why.
"Alright. You can call Liz for anything you need." He also stood from his chair.
Liz was his personal helper--or something. I don't really know what to call her, but I know she's in her mid-fifties and has served Dylan since birth. She was a descendant of the family that served the Trivian's Alpha for decades.
We exchanged a few more words and I headed back to the cabin.
I wonder if Soleil was dead asleep from all night running we did, but I bet she is.
Slowly and quietly, I turned the knob of the cabin door and pushed it open so as not to disturb her if ever she was asleep.
She wasn't.
My face was met by a fluffy white pillow thrown at me as I took a step inside.
Soleil threw it, of course.
"You fucking prick!" She hissed at me while I caught the pillow before it landed on the ground. "How could you do that to me?!"
My gaze went up to her face. She no longer wears the hooded robe I gave her, and now she's wearing skimpy cotton white shorts and a tank top.
She's not wearing a bra. Great. Now, I'm semi-hard down there.
"I thought you'd be asleep," I smirked at her, amazed at how her angry face looked so hot on her.
"How could I when my mind is too busy thinking about how to kill you? Really, Quillon? You had to make me look like an idiot in front of Alpha Dylan? How dare you prank me!"
"I didn't prank you."
She crossed her arms in front of her. "You made me believe we're being caught and punished!"
"I had to make it look like we really were being caught and punished. I wasn't pranking you." My words drawled as my gaze focused on her squished boobs.
Another pillow landed on my face as I was distracted and it fell on my feet before I could catch it.
Fuck. I didn't see that one coming.
"You could at least tell me! I can fucking act!"
I grabbed my bag from the door and headed inside, locking the door behind me.
"Let it go, Soleil. It's all good now."
"I looked like an idiot!"
"No, you didn't. That's a normal reaction because you didn't know and you shouldn't know. If there were spies out there waiting for my arrival, then they didn't suspect our covert mission." I sighed. "I'm sorry for scaring you, and thank you for being a great distraction."
Speaking of distraction, my gaze averted back to her chest.
Damn, what a handful.
My fists clenched on my side as the urge to grab on to those glorious assets of hers blinded my mind.
Soleil didn't speak for a moment and I guessed she calmed down a bit after my explanation.
Blinking slowly, I looked back at her face and smiled a bit.
"I know you're tired. I cancelled breakfast so we could sleep first--"
"What? You said no to breakfast?"
She looked like she was ready to throw me out of the cabin again.
"Well, I assume--"
"No, no. I eat when I'm tired and I sleep with my stomach full. I also eat when I'm angry, so you'd better score us some food, or I'll eat you alive."
I chuckled a bit, giving her a smirk.
"I'd take that last offer, babe." I winked.
Her face flushed and I stopped myself from laughing. Damn, she looked so beautiful when she's mad.
"Trust me, babe, it wasn’t an offer and there’s no pleasure behind the words. Don't test me, Quillon, I'm really exhausted and famished."
My hands went up in the air and I chuckled while shaking my head.
I was reminded of the night of her birthday. Soleil could really lose it when she's hungry.
"And stop staring at my boobs, perv!" Then she stomped away, turning her back on me and heading to the bathroom.
I sighed a whistle. I didn't even realize I was staring at her breasts again and now I was called a perv.
I mean, I think I am. I couldn't help it, though. She's too irresistible not to look at.
Sighing, I tried focusing my mind out of exhaustion and called Liz for breakfast.
Gotta feed the dragon before it breathes fire.
