57 - it's the fever
Luis POV.
Nothing can come in between us now.
"We xan hang out to play some other time ajd ill properly whoop your ass," i blushed as Garber squeezed my shoulder before going in the other direction.
"Yes." It didn't matter if he meant it literally or figuratively.
He was back to me and thats all that mattered.
"Love is written all over your face," i jumped as Rose suddenly appeared behind me.
Their usually soft voice sounded much deeper than I needed a quick turn around to confirm it was really them.
"I'm just happy i beat him. That's all," i turned around to hide the blush on my face
"Sure. If you say so." They said as they holsted their bag over their shoulders. "Wanna hang out at my place today?" They asked.
I shook my head and thought again.
"I have some things to attend to. Sorry," i scrunched up my face.
"Its okay, we can hang out during lunch tomorrow," they parted my shoulder and headed towards their car.
I watched them walk forward with a doubt in my mind.
One so heavy because of what I would face.
As much as I'd love that. I knew fore a dact i wouldn't be able to come around tomorrow. I'd gathered strenght thanks ti the reconciliation with Garber.
But the elephant in the room still needed to be addressed.
Tomorrow was for Mon and Rina.
Rather then my regular route, I decided to walk home. Ignored the strain it had on my muscles as well as the fatigue and burnout I was feeling.
By the time I knocked on the front door, I could only manage one step before collapsing into the couch.
My throat was parched. My whole body ached but it was better this way. I wouldn't get riled up and even if I did...
Even if I did, I'd be too exhausted to express it.
I blinked for a little longer than usual and my eyes landed on the small photo frame of my family as I used to know it.
That wasn't always there. I jolted up and my skull felt like it'd cracked if I made one more wrong move.
"Hey. You're back a little late today. Did something happen at school?" I knew I shouldn't but I whipped my head back so fast it cracked and actually cramped.
Fuck muscle cramps!
I needed to know why my dad suddenly cared about me.
He walked towards me and placed the back of his hand on my forehead. "God you're burning up," he said as he took out his phone for a dial.
I blinked and my eyelids felt too heavy to open again but in the last moments of my active consciousness, I came to a conclusion.
It's the fever.
There's no way dad cared about me or remembered our life enough to take out those pictures. I had to be seeing things.
