Chapter 15

"Wake up babe. I made you pancakes, bacon and a cup of fruit juice," he said.

"Aiden, you didn't have to. It is supposed to be the other way round. You are meant to still be in bed."

"I forgot something. I'll be back."

Breakfast in bed, Wearing one of his big t-shirts that had a waft of his Cologne and sleeping on his bed was a scene she usually watched in romance movies but here she was, experiencing it. She slept so sound like a baby she forgot she was there to take care of him. She was looking for her phone to check the time to be sure that He hadn't skipped the time for his drugs but she couldn't find it anywhere. She looked to the other side of the nightstand and found his phone. Would there be any harm in turning it on to check the time, she thought.

She finally decided against it and suddenly, a message popped up. It was from someone called Kate. She wasn't supposed to continue staring but she was curious and that's when she saw it. Indeed curiosity kills the cat. They could at least allowed her to enjoy the moment a little bit longer. Kate had sent him a message saying it had been a while and that she missed his touch. She also added that he could always call her anytime. She should have known that all these were a dream. She wasn't going to cry either was she going to stop him from seeing whoever he wanted to see. He was rich, handsome and famous so he could have a thousand women hovering around him with the snap of a finger. She was a spec and he wasn't going to make her look any less. She took off his shirt and was about to change when he waltzed in.

"What is wrong? Did the pancake taste bad?"

"No. It's nothing. You should take your drugs. I'll go change in the bathroom. I need to quickly drop off some important document. "

"Ok if you say so. Babe, I know something is wrong and you are just not saying what is."

"Really it's nothing. I'll be on my way now."

He knew something was wrong but he didn't want to push it. He would give her time. He used his drugs and worked from because he had called in earlier that he wouldn't be coming to the office today. He picked his phone up to call her to be sure she was okay. He said he was going to give her time but he changed his mind. He unlocked his phone and saw a message from Kate. He and Kate used to be in a relationship a long time ago. Way back before Sabrina. It was one of his best relationships. She wasn't after his money like the others. She always wanted him to be a better person. They had lost touch since Sabrina came into the picture. They had recently met at the airport and exchanged numbers. Ever since he told her about Sabrina's death, she would send him messages of how she missed him and if they could get back together. Could it be that she saw this message? He questioned himself.

She must have seen the message. She left too fast. He knew something was wrong she had even flinched when he called her Babe. Or maybe it was too sudden. He called her severally but her number was not going through so he grabbed his keys and drove straight to her friend's place.

"What do you want?" she asked while giving him a nasty look.

If looks could kill, hers would have killed him.

"I'm here to see Rachel."

"She travelled."

"What do you mean she travelled? Grace, she was at my place this morning."

"She just told me she was travelling to clear her head. She didn't mention any precise location."

"I need to know where she is Grace. It's important."

"As I said earlier, she didn't say where she was going but she rushed in looking sad and packed most of her stuff."

He called John to get his team to go to all the airports in the state to find her.

She should have just confronted him. Why did women have to be this difficult?

Does love have to be this tasking? He had not slept with any woman since Sabrina.

"What do you mean by you all couldn't find her. What do I pay you for? John, I need you to find Rachel's location. I don't care if you and your men decide to search through the seven seas. I just want her location found.

He called some of his acquaintances in the travelling sector to also help him find her location. He couldn't imagine losing her.

Rachel made a final decision to leave and never come back. She was tired of hoping on a love that was hurting her continuously. How do people even endure detrimental love? Her heart was fragile and this time around it shattered into several pieces after seeing that message. She was going to start a new life in a new place where she could live a normal life. She broke her sim and took a train that way no one would be able to find her easily. The ride was going to be a very long one but she was prepared.

Two days on the road travelling wasn't something she planned on experiencing anytime soon again. Especially when it consisted of sitting on one spot almost throughout the journey. The last train stopped her at the train station where she later on took the final bus going to her destination. The big board showing "Welcome to Bathina" was the one thing she had longed to see since the beginning of her journey and there was this feeling of joy that engulfed her after seeing the welcome post. It was a small city, one that seemed to have fewer visitors.

Finally, she was starting to blend with the city. She had gotten a conducive apartment, a decent car and a job. She was now working as a doctor at the St Dominic hospital. She couldn't help but notice that they lacked some essential infrastructure but there wasn't much she could do about it. In this past months, she had made some friends and also learnt how to sew. During her free days, she would sew children's clothes and distribute them to the children at the market. One thing she knew was that the people of Bathina were very accommodating.

The kids in the children ward always looked forward to Saturday evenings because she always brought her special homemade cookies for everyone. The pay was good so she could always afford to buy some things for the children. No matter how much she tried to let go of her love for Aiden, she just couldn't. He was always in her dreams, at one point she was started to wonder if he cast a spell on her. Every guy she went on a date with, she compared with Aiden. She loved children so much she didn't want to end up old and lonely.

She didn't even own a pet, maybe she should get one she thought to herself. She was going to try her best not to compare any of her dates with Aiden. He had hurt her. Here she was thinking he truly loved her when he stopped her from sleeping with him as a means of validation but it was probably because he had Kate waiting in bed for him. She had matured in these months. She wasn't going to be deceived by any man. Her Shift had ended earlier today because the M. D insisted she close early for the preparation of the guest they were expecting the following day. She was thankful that there were still rich people with good hearts who remembers the people in need.

She heard from the nurses that the guest had paid for the refurbishing of the hospital which was supposed to take place immediately the children have been moved to the new wing.  She just hopes she would have a chance to express her gratitude to him.
