Chapter 14
It's been one hectic week. He had been in meetings from the beginning of Monday till Saturday morning. He was currently on a plane back home. He needed a massage and he had just one person in mind. Not that she was going to give him one anyway. She had been busy with her final exams and she happened to finish her last paper on Friday. He sent her roses, chocolate, text and even sent John to drop her a dress which she returned. It's like they were back to square one. She wasn't even returning his calls all because he wouldn't clear the air to the public about their relationship.
He didn't even know if she was aiming for a purpose that probably had to do with going into a relationship. He was feeling funny but he didn't have any intentions of calling the doctor over. He didn't like drugs neither did he like needles so he was going to have to find something to do about the way he was feeling. Probably give it a day or two.
She didn't understand why he hated drugs. Now she was driving over to his place because he had threatened to fire his Butler if he called the doctor. Thank the butler was reasonable to call her.
She parked her car and took out a few drugs she got for him after the butler described his symptoms. He had not been sleeping and eating well. The house was too quiet which she found disturbing. Is this what he always cane home to ever since she left.
"See who graced us with her presence. I'm guessing the butler called you. Clever man. So since I told him not to call the doctor, he decided to call you. If there's a next time I'll remember to also add your name. Not that I'm not happy to see you but I'm sure you didn't come here to say hi because you didn't reply to my texts or calls. Now that you are here can at least get a reason to why you ha... Argh. Damn."
"Aiden you are human and not a robot. You need rest once in a while. I'll have the butler prepare a nice meal for you. You need to eat something before taking your drugs. First and foremost, why don't you take off your shirt while I mop your body you are burning up."
"Dr Rachel. I like the sound of that. Are you sure this is a good idea because the last time this happened, we both know what almost happened? You were standing right there. That spot with your soft han....."
"Stop. You can't scare me. I'm not going anywhere. You'll eat your food, take your drugs and rest properly."
"Yes, Doctor. Does my presence scare you? I mean if you are scared to me in the same room with me I can call the Butler to join us. At least we would be decent enough to keep our hands to ourselves. I still want to know why you haven't been replying "
"No. I mean scare me? Why I haven't been replying you? Here is why. You can't just go around kissing someone you claim is your sister and disappear into thin air. You can't keep sending me stuff. I don't work for you anymore. Aiden you paid my fee for the whole university year. What else have you paid for? My bride price? I even feel my mother betrothed me to you. Aiden there are so many questions in need of answers. I know now is not the best time. To think that I was working for you to complete my fee. I'm just going to step out for a bit."
She was dumbfounded when she requested for her receipt for final clearance and the bursar told her that all the money she paid was moved into another account opened on her behalf by her mother and that she had cleared her fees for the whole school years the first day she resumed. Aiden had paid her fees. All of it. She didn't know whether to feel angry or happy. Her mother kept this from her. What else were they hiding? What if Aiden was truly her brother? But brothers don't kiss their sisters. Or could it be that she was betrothed to him because why in the world would he do that?
The Butler finally brought in his food which consisted of A chicken soup and bread. After what felt like forever, he finally agreed she fed him. Sometimes she wondered why men hated showing weakness even at times when they were weak and needed help.
"This is so strange. I do not know who this is. You have made me become something I am not and I hate that I can be around you like this." he said.
"What do you mean?" She asked confused.
"Me letting you see me like this in this state, letting you see my scars without worrying, taking all these prescriptions. I can't seem to get you out of my head even when I try so hard. I hate it when another man looks at you. I got so jealous when you sneaked in the other night in that backless dress. So many thoughts were running through my mind. What if she was in another man's arm? During those rough times when I wanted to let my anger, my frustrations, my pain out on everything and everyone, the moment you walk in, the atmosphere changes. Suddenly I don't want to lash out anymore. My anger goes off immediately just like a switch to a bulb. I have tried so many times to deny this feeling hence the always addressing you as a sister. Now I have come to realise that I want more. I want more. I have lost you too many times not anymore. Yes, I admit to buying you those things and paying your fees. I was just trying to express my feelings for you."
She didn't even know when she started tearing up. This had to be the sweetest thing anybody has ever told her. She was speechless. She didn't know what to say or do. She had wanted to hear those words. Not exactly word for word but she wanted to hear him say something similar ever since she was a teenager.
"Please say something. The silence is killing me."
She kissed him like her life depended on it. She had waited so long for this. She took off her jacket so quick and next her top and was about to unhook her bra when the next thing he said stopped her as fast as it took her to pull off her clothes.
"Rachel Stop. As much as I want you so badly, I want to do this the right way. I want all of you but at the right time. I don't want you to feel like you have to have sex with me for validation. Let's take this one step at a time. I'm not in a rush. Now before I change my mind about taking those medications you had better give them to me."
