Chapter 32 CHAPTER 32
Chapter 32 CHAPTER 32
SERA'S POV
I blinked twice.
Rain was falling softly outside, the sound of droplets hitting the roof slowly making me get up. I stretched and yawned, the night's rest was exactly what I needed.
Rest?
The last thing I remembered… I sat up straight, staring at my bed. I was walking with Felix. He said something, about me being tired.
Holy fuck.
I threw the covers off, running outside. There was a guard directly in my way and I pushed him, my feet moving fast.
I got to the door and raised my hand, just as it opened, a shocked Althea staring back at me.
“Sera!” she exclaimed.
Behind her, Dante stood. His lips were pressed together tightly, his eyes solemn.
“I'm so sorry, I'll come back later—” I began apologizing.
“Oh no there's no need,” Althea assured me. “Dante is leaving now.”
Sure enough, the vampire king walked past me, saying nothing. His eyes trailed down my body and I followed his gaze, my face flaming when I realized my robe was open and all I had on was some camisoles and shorts that disappeared directly underneath my ass cheeks.
Not my best moment, but I refused to drop my gaze, resisting the urge to be embarrassed.
Dante leaves and I enter Althea’s room, wrapping my robe around me. “Are you okay?”
“No,” I cried out, pacing the room. “I…I am sure I got compelled last night.”
“What?”
“I got compelled last night,” I said again, this time more sure. “It felt so warm. He just told me I was tired and suddenly,” I snapped my fingers, “I couldn't keep my eyes open.”
Althea’s gaze softened. “Oh you poor child.”
“I couldn't even fight it,” I cried, wrapping my arm around my midriff. “My body was suddenly not mine, the minute he looked into my eyes and said the words, I just felt light, like I had to obey him.”
“This is why I keep telling you that you need to train more,Sera,” Althea cupped my jaw. Her hands were so soft, the pointed part of her nails barely scraping against my skin. “You are not strong yet, even the lowest vampire can use compulsion on you and it would work.”
“What can I do?” Tears sting behind my eyelids.
“Train,” she breathes. “Being a catalyst makes you stronger than most humans, but even that is not enough to survive. You need to be able to beat them.”
A thought flickered to life. “I could take Vervain,” I said, remembering the drug Wren had taken. “Even a powerful vampire like Lucian could not compel someone under it.”
“Vervain is outlawed,Sera,” Althea sighs. “The only way you can get it is with the permission of the kings, and I doubt you want them to know you want to take Vervain. It would only make them suspicious of you.”
“Just until I was strong enough to withstand it myself,” I pleaded. “Is it not worth asking?”
“No. For now, use this rage you feel. Do something with it, unlock your power,” her hand fell from my face. “I see great things in you, Sera. You just need to see them too.”
I nodded, wiping the tears that had fallen. “Thank you, Althea,” I said, feeling dejected as I left her room. There was no point asking any of them, I already knew they would be against it.
But why did Felix do it? And worse, just how many vampires could control me now? How was I supposed to get my revenge on them, when I couldn't keep them out of my mind?
I stopped walking, staring at the rain that fell into the courtyard. The storm picked up, matching the twirling thoughts in my mind, the unsettling feeling I had not leaving my spine at any point.
“If you want vervain, you can have it.”
“Ouch,” I shrieked, losing my balance at the voice suddenly in my head. The ice cold pellets of rain beat my skin and I turned angrily, seeing the cause of my predicament standing a few steps away with a shit eating grin on his face.
“You couldn't just talk like a normal human?” I hissed, still under the rain.
“Well, you forget I am not human,” he retorted, that playful voice in my head.
I narrowed my eyes on him. “How did you know what I wanted?”
Dante just taps his ear.
“Oh you fucking swine,” I hissed. “Does nobody in this fuckkng castle know what privacy is? That conversation has nothing to do with you,” I shrieked, rain climbing to my skin as I waved my hands everywhere, pulling the wet strands of hair away from my face. “No one tells me anything, no one when I ask a question, I just get turned around in circles, but let me have a conversation where one of you is not being an eavesdropper.”
A shiver ran through my body, but I gritted my teeth. Standing under the rain was much, much better than being closer to the vampire.
“Just because you guys have some fucking supernatural abilities does not give you the rights to be assholes you know,” I croaked. “And you've been assholes since I came. Speaking in my mind, compulsions none of it is acceptable, I never wanted any of this.”
My breath escaped in short huffs, anger slowly ebbing away from me. Dante stood there, frozen and silent, his hands in his pocket.
“You know what?” I rolled my eyes. “I am sorry. How will I expect a vampire king to understand my predicament?” I pushed my hair away from my face again, and walked back into the hallway, heading from my room.
Before I took another step, Dante blurred to my front. “What are you—”
He slammed me against a pillar, cushioning my head with one big hand as his body pinned me there.
“I heard everything you said,” he whispered, “but it's so hard to focus, when the rain has left so little to imagination.”
The rain? I followed his trail, my eyes going down my body and my cheeks burning. My robe had gotten loose at some point, and now, my little camisole might not have existed, plastered against me like a second skin, my erect nipples hard and the pink colour easily seen underneath the lilac material. The shirts did nothing to help, melding to my skin and I looked up, meeting his dark gaze.
“Oops.”
Dante swallowed, still pining me against the hard stone. He licked his lips, his fangs out as he stared at me.
The ball of heat in between my legs began to spiral and I pushed my hips forward a little, feeling his sting body against my skin. Dante leaned so close, his eyes on my lips and he brought his head lower, and lower and…
His mouth finds my neck, not my mouth. I let out a choked moan, closing my eyes when I felt the graze of a fang against my pale skin. He sucked in a deep breath, placing soft kisses as his hand pulled me tighter to him.
The rain water from my body had probably drenched his clothes now, but he didn't seem to care, so I didn't either. His hands grab my buttocks, hoisting me up and I wrap my legs around his waist, grinding against him.
He shifts back, his eyes dark with heat. “Fuck,” he groaned, then took my nipple into his mouth through the thin material.
Oh my God.
“Dante,” I moaned, my back arching off the stone, pushing more pressure on the little bundle of nerves I had. “Dante,” I groaned, humping him with his help. His grip on my thigh is punishing, and I know it was gon g to bruise, but fuck, the way everything to gked from my head to tow and it all felt so fucking good….
“Why don't you get a fucking room?”
I gasped, turning at the same time with him to see a furious Lady Viora staring at us.
