Chapter 83 Endless surprises

Chapter 83 Endless surprises
Rosia's POV

"I honestly thought Rhea was the monster." I tell my mother after narrating all that has happened since the death of the first maid. "My mates are right. I will go and apologize to her."

She doesn't seem angry that I had accused her daughter and almost had her thrown out of the palace. She stands and walks to stand by the massive window by my side.

"Don't you blame yourself. There are times I too thought as you did." She surprisingly reveals.

"What made you think it was her?" I question.

Mother is quiet for a long moment before speaking.

"Her beauty seemed to increase with every person that died back in the pack,"
She tells. "Not to mention that she was always the one seen with each one of them before their demise. She also refused to show me her wolf since she turned."

"I demanded that she phase in front of me and my mates yesterday night and she confessed that Alpha Nolan's men beat her wolf and injured it. But her hand did shift and I confirmed she indeed has a wolf." I tell.d

It is my mother's turn to be completely astounded. "Alpha Nolan's men? They wouldn't.... nothing like that has ever happened. I might have been Alpha Nolan's slave but he'd never have let anyone hurt his daughter."

"Alpha Nolan is Rhea's father?"

So when he told my mates that his officials had their way with my mother when he bought her as a slave, it was acctually him. I’m going to kill that bastard. Rhea probably won't understand though. She would hate me even more.

"If he loved her so much, how did he let you take her with you?" I question and mother shakes her head.

"I too was surprised that he was letting me take her. In the end, I concluded that it was your mates' gold he was after."

And he did get a lot of it. My mates had paid him a huge sum to buy both Mother and Rhea.

There is a sudden knock on the doors of my mother's chambers, and they swing open almost immediately after.

I don't know what should be more shocking, the fact that it is my mates' assistant, Silas, who steps into the room, or the fact that he is holding a massive, beautifully arranged bunch of fresh flowers.

He is as surprised to see me as I am surprised to see him. " he stops in his tracks and stutters. "M-My Lady... I had no idea that you were here."

I looked from him to my mother.

"I... I got your mother a gift," He sats in a tense voice, shifting the bouquet awkwardly between his hands. "She is a really good person, and I just thought...she deserves a nice surprise."

There is however a smile on my mother's face, so the feeling must be mutual and it appears he is making her happy.
The two do make a good couple. But isn't the age gap a bit too huge? Silas is definitely younger than my mother. He is roughly the same age as Lucas had been. Is there really even a mate bond between the two? Maybe, they say age is just a number, right?

"I'll suit myself," I say, a smile on my lips. "I wanted to go talk to my mates anyway." I step forward and give my mother a hug before heading for the door.

The moment I shut it I hear the muffled sound of the two of them laughing together about the awkward situation.

I am glad she is finally getting the chance she had been denied her entire life. The chance to choose the man she want to fall in love with.

Rhea's POV

"Your wounds have already fully healed. You must possess a remarkably strong werewolf," The old doctor says after examining my wounds a second time since yesterday. "I will inform the Kings that you will be perfectly well so that they won't worry themselves further."

"No, I will do that myself," I say. "No need to tire your old self."

The doctor nods gratefully. He packs his salves and instruments back into his leather bag and leaves my chambers.

I let out a long, tense sigh of relief. My plan yesterday didn't exactly work out as I had anticipated. My sister seems to be aggravatingly wise and thoughtful. If I hadn't thought fast when she demanded I phase I would have ended up being discovered. I shudder to think of what her powerful mates would do. I have heard what they did to her other sister, princess Cassandra. They had her executed by the blade.

The only good thing is that I now possess the most beautifully full pair of breasts and the most delicate hands.

However beauty seems to have no effect on my sister's gorgeous mates. No man I have met before appeared to be blind to my beauty. It's like they have eyes only for my sister.

I now have to think of other ways. Which is hard for me since I am not exactly so wise as she is.

I also don't know if my little stunt to shift really convinced her that I am not the monster. So I have to do something about that as well.

But I don't see how I can figure out what to do next without my father's advice.

It will be nighttime soon, then I can go see him.

I make my way to my closet and examine all the expensive jewelry, my sister gifted me. I put them all in a pouch bag and change into just a hooded black robe before heading out towards the entrance of the palace.

The two guards at the gate front gates open it for me even before I ask.

"Are you sure it's safe for you to leave the palace at this hour, Princess Rhea?" One of them asks despite having already opened the gate for me.

"I am just taking a short walk since I am bored. I'll be back before it's dark." I argue.

"Very right! Go ahead and enjoy yourself."

I go through the open gate and keep walking. But I have this bad feeling that someone is watching me.

I back around but doesn't find anyone as the guards have already closed the gates.

I walk until it's dark. It seems everyone outside the palace is just as terrified of the 'monster' as those inside. The streets are entirely empty, everyone having gone indoors.

I freely shed my robe and the wind hits my naked body as it starts to shift. My bones starts to rearrange and stretch, The pain is excruciating as usual as my fingers turn into long claws and my mouth fill with long predatory canines. In seconds, I become a massive beast the size of five big wolves combined. The skin underneath my fur is tougher than that of a crocodile, such that no sword or spear can pierce it. The only thing I dislike about my beast is the long, forked tongue that kept darting in and out of my monstrous mouth.

Lowering my massive snout, I carefully scoop up the heavy pouch and Sprint off towards the direction of Alpha Nolan's pack.
