93. MARRIAGE VOWS

93. MARRIAGE VOWS
Arianna

Vincent stopped us both in front of the priest. For the show, Vincent slipped his hand beneath my sweater, pushing the bra aside to squeeze my breast.

A gasp escaped my lips, the shock of the touch mixing with a primal surge of pleasure and a deep sense of mortification that the priest was watching.

Vincent, the cruel puppet master, didn’t allow me to speak.

He turned to the priest. “Your showtime, Father.”The tip of his knife, icy and sharp, grazed my neck, a cold whisper against my skin.

I was a doll in his hands, a pretty thing he was displaying to the God in a holy place.

The priest, clearly shaken, swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing nervously. He managed a weak nod, a flicker of compliance in his wide eyes.

“Of course, Mr. De La Roche. In a second,” he stammered, turning to retrieve a worn, white book from the stone altar.

My brow furrowed in confusion.

What was happening? This couldn’t possibly be what I thought it was, could it?

A sudden, sharp anxiety clawed at my throat, cold tendrils of dread wrapping around my heart.

The priest’s hands trembled as he opened the book, his voice barely a whisper as he cleared his throat.

“We have gathered on this special night, deep within shadows where ancient trees weep, to bear witness to a love unlike any other. A love that coils and binds, a beautiful darkness,” he began, his words echoing in the oppressive silence. “Vincent, your eyes hold a hunger that mirrors the very forest around us, a possessive flame for Arianna. Do you, with all your shadowed heart, take her to be yours and yours alone? Do you take Arianna Capri to be your lawfully wedded wife, to cherish and possess, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?”

The words hung in the air, dark and heavy. Vincent’s fingers tightened on my breast, his thumb brushing across my nipple, eliciting a whimper.

The pleasure was a sharp, unwelcome intrusion, a confusing jolt amidst the fear and the sheer absurdity of the situation.

We weren’t just getting engaged; we were getting married. Right here. Right now. In this forsaken place.

The shock of it all washed over me, a cold wave that left me dizzy and breathless.

Vincent’s grip on my body, however, remained steadfast, a cruel mockery of a protective hold.

His low, resonant “I do,” was not a sweet murmur, but a claim, a promise that felt less like devotion and more like possession.

It was a binding oath, spoken with a confidence that chilled me to the bone. He wasn’t asking, he was stating, and I was his.

The priest’s gaze shifted to me, his eyes holding a strange mixture of pity and fear. “Arianna…your gaze is a moonlit path in the deepest night, drawn to Vincent with a devotion that whispers secrets. Do you, with every fiber of your being, surrender your soul to his keeping? Do you take Vincent Taurean De La Roche to be your lawfully wedded husband, to obey and adore, in darkness and in light, until your last breath?”

The question hung in the silence, heavy and suffocating.

The flickering candles danced on the altar, creating grotesque shadows that seemed to mock the sacredness of the moment.

The small gothic church seemed to be holding its breath, the sounds outside, rustling leaves, the snap of a twig, only amplified the tension.

I hesitated, a small rebellion, a flicker of defiance in my heart.

It was short lived as Vincent pinched my nipple harder, the sharp pain a jarring reminder of my place, his knife kissing my neck in a delicious, silent threat.

The pressure was both terrifying and intoxicating, a cocktail of fear and a dark desire that made my body tremble.

“Now, now, baby. You know the answer,” he purred, the sound a velvet caress against my ear, yet laced with a dangerous edge.

I trembled, my voice a fragile thing as I whispered, “I do,” the words barely audible, a fragile melody swallowed by the shadows that seemed to press in around me. It was my surrender.

The feeling was similar to giving up a game or admitting defeat in a battle that I had already lost from the beginning.

Vincent’s response was a low, satisfied purr,” Good girl,” as he began to stroke my breast, the gentle caress a stark contrast to the earlier painful pinching.

The priest continued, his voice gaining a strange kind of rhythmic cadence as he read from the book, “The air here crackles with the intensity of your tangled souls, a storm of passion and devotion that chills me even in this hallowed place. Such love is a force, a dangerous, magnificent thing. As I pronounce you bound, know that your love story will be whispered in these woods for centuries, a legend of two hearts forever entwined, forever obsessed, forever in the dark. You may claim your prize with a kiss.”

His words were dark and cryptic, a strange, macabre benediction. It was as if the whole thing had been written just for us.

Vincent pulled the knife away, turning me to face him. The hand that had held the knife now gently lifted the mask, revealing his face in its entirety.

His features were bathed in the flickering candlelight of our clandestine ceremony.

That devastatingly handsome, utterly sinful face, etched with a smirk that promised both pleasure and torment.

Never had I seen someone look so devilishly beautiful, so completely untamed. It was the face of a predator, and I, his prey, was completely willing to be devoured.

Pulling me closer by the nape of my neck, his touch both possessive and tender, he whispered, the words a soft caress against my skin, “Finally, you’re my wife,” and then, he stole my breath, his lips claiming mine in a kiss that was both a culmination and a beginning.

I was his now, irrevocably, in this dark, twisted fairytale, and I had no idea what was coming next, but the only thing I knew was that I was his.

His wife.
