Chapter 72 The Mate Lie
Chapter 72 The Mate Lie
Zane ~
She kept forcing my grip out of her hands.
“Ember, please listen to me.”
“Zane, what the hell is going on? What are you hiding from me? I don't understand.”
“Ember, can we leave? Can we just leave now?” I spoke softly, trying not to raise my voice, because at this point I might be deigned to raise my voice at the highest peak.
She stood still. “We're not leaving here until you tell me the genesis of what that voice was trying to make me understand.”
“Okay, fine. Can we just don't ruin this moment, Ember? We should probably go have some sex. I guess that's what making you act this crazy.”
“What the heck, Zane?” she yelled. “We're talking about something this serious and you're bringing up the sex that you denied me earlier?”
“Ohh c'mon, Ember. I never denied you sex. I said if we're back I would give it to you. Why the hell will I deny you of sex? That crazy to think about.”
She folded her arms. “Then we're here. What exactly are we doing here?”
“To get you a protection power to help you stay safe while you're with Colt.”
She looked at me weirdly. “But, did we get that? No. So why don't we leave and go have some sex?” I tried speaking in the most calmest tone ever but she was really stubborn.
“Zane I was hearing we both are wasting our time together. What does that mean, Zane? I need answers. Can't you tell me?”
I held my head. Ephesus really knows how to play with fire. He really thinks he can utter such words. How petite could that be?
“Ember, please listen. I'm trying my best not to ruin this moment for us both, because it's not as easy as you'll predict it is.”
“I'm all ears,” she said.
“I was supposed to claim you on my 1000 years clocking.”
“But you did,” she said, interrupting.
I nodded. “Yesterday I did but… your powers has to react. There was something that's connected to that powers.”
She looked away, looking suspicious.
“What's wrong, Ember?” I asked and she quickly looked away.
“And what does that have to do with we're not mates? The bond drew me to you, Zane. What does that voice say that we're not mate? How true is that?”
She looked scared already.
“Since your wolf didn't react, and I didn't present any Luna to the council, they'll get to choose whatever their choice are as my mate.”
She shook her head. “No, Zane. It can't be. It's me. It has always been me. You said it, Zane. I'm your Luna. Your mate.
My powers and wolf could be sealed but my heart isn't. I feel something for you, Zane. I love you.”
Tears slowly slipped from her eyes.
Shit. I held the tip of my nose with one hand, and the other one her waist, trying to hold her together.
“Remember I said it's going to ruin the moment, Ember.”
She kept mute. Every part of me wanted to teleport straight to where that bastard priest was and strangle him to death.
But that going to cause havoc on lots of people in the pack. Aside from that, I don't see what is stopping me.
“So… who's the supposed mate the council chose?” She asked slowly and I could feel the disdain in her voice.
I wanted to say something but I paused. “It doesn't count, Ember.”
“Tell me the fuck who they chose!” she yelled, giving me some distance. I ruffled my hair. She laughed slowly. “It's Sloane, right?”
I breathed in and out and she looked at me painfully.
“So she's finally succeeded into your life, Alpha. She's not going to stress herself in eliminating anyone, because the damn path is literally cleared for her already, right?” she yelled.
“Ember, calm down.”
“Don’t fucking tell me to calm down, Zane. You planned all of this, right? Goddamn fuck, Ember. Why would you say such thing?”
“Ohhh please, Zane. If you really don't want Sloane to be the Luna then you'd fight Colt to let me stay.
But you're part of her scheme in parting clear path for her, so she'd become your Luna. If you're tired of me, just say it this instant. Just fucking do, and stop pretending.”
I held my breath in my chest. My wolf was literally going feral, and annoyed at the same time.
Fuck. I knew this shit was going to happen. I never loved Sloane for once and you freaking know that, Ember. I wished I could do something I…
“Get me the fuck out of here. That's what you keep saying you wished. You fucking wish every damn time.”
I looked up at the ceiling. Ephesus will probably be in his happiest moments now. It's not over, you bastard.
I glared darkly, holding her hands while I teleported straight to my room. "I never said I was going to come back here." She half yelled.
“Ember, please listen to me.” But she pushed me aside.
