Chapter 5.Sean forgets Adana (sort of).
Dread filled Adana when a familiar building loomed over the school bus. She wasn't ready to experience the shocked expressions of all her grade mates.
She straightened her back and smoothed the thick material of her cobalt blue denim pants in an attempt at distracting herself from her nerves.
Leilani's usually dark eyes lightened with curiosity which Adana couldn't help but admire. She wished she was also curious but nothing about those pigeon gray lockers and their owners stirred her curiosity.
"Omg, omg, omgeee," Leilani's fiery curls which she had decided to leave loose, bounced while she hopped in her seat beside Adana. "We're finally here Ada, can you believe it?"
"Yeah I can't believe it either," Adana's voice laced with sarcasm at her obvious excitement. "Whoo freaking hoo."
Her bouncy friend didn't take her sour mood to heart when she swung her arm over her vertically challenged friend. "Oh, don't be such a sour pussy."
Adana's light maroon gaze drew into a deep frown when she spotted the last person she wanted to see on her first day. Today wasn't technically her first day but it was the first day after her countless work outs.
Deep pine green orbs under golden mane which had been grown out overtime observed the pair of contrasting beauties before he graced them with his megawatt smile.
"Hello, ladies," he smiled with his eyes scanning the pair. "I'm Sean and welcome to Lakeland Falls High."
Leilani's slate eyes measured the complete five plus, almost six feet inched height of male in front of them before deciding she didn't like him. Something about the smile and his hidden eyes seemed deceptive.
"Yeah so what?" She snarled. "Are you like part of the welcoming party or something?"
Sean's almost angelic features registered shock at her little command. "N-no I just wanted to welcome you guys, that's all."
Leilani eyed him and snorted for his benefit. "Thank you for welcoming us," she said not sounding appreciative and looped her arms with Adana. "But we can find our way around without your help."
With that, she wasted no time to shove his broad shoulder pulling an amused Adana with her. Adana couldn't digest the fact that he hadn't recognized her. He had changed a lot. He was more muscly, tan and he sure grew his hair overnight.
"I'm going to classes now," she turned to a panicked Leilani who switched her weight from one foot to the other.
Not waiting for any instructions, Adana pulled her into a hug. "Don't worry Lani, you got this."
She released her friend who's eyes now seemed a little less tense and turned to make her way to the first class of the day and hopefully not bump into Sean or anyone relating to him.
"Welcome Miss Spindly," Mrs. Limpet's high pitched voice caused Adana to still in her attempt at sneaking into the class unnoticed. "You'll be glad to know that you have the liberty of choosing your own seats but we're spicing things up by changing the seating arrangements after two weeks."
A slight buzz of murmuring from the not-so-happy students filled the air while Adana folded her arms over her gifted bosom. "Thank you for the information ma'am."
Adana wasn't in the mood to spit back a hot comeback. She just wanted this first day to go on without any nasty bump in her way. She sighed and decided to make her way to the back corner of the class right beside Flora Shawn who was popularly known for her friendly aura.
She had planned to ignore the dark beauty beside her who was only a shade darker than herself and mind her business but she couldn't help but listen into the conversation going in between her and Zinnia, her best friend.
Zinnia's voice was softer than Flora's usually booming voice which made Adana strain her ears so as to make out the words.
"Did you hear?" Zinnia asked and Flora visibly scooted closer.
"No I didn't hear anything," she replied. "What happened? You know I hate not being up to date on the hottest news."
A hint of pride coloured her words and Adana's eyes rolled in their sockets. Trust Flora to say something like that.
"It's not a what Flora, it's who," Zinnia said. "The hottest pair of twins just enrolled here at Lakeland Falls High."
Flora's eyes widened. "For real?"
"Would I joke about something like this?"
Adana tuned out of the rest of the 'juicy details' about the new arrivals. They would be the hottest news around for a while but she was giving them two weeks and they'd be the last topic for any discussion. Typical High school behavior.
Mrs. Limpet's blank expression silenced the class before she introduced the topic and turned to write on the board.
"Now remember, everyone has three days to complete this essay," she said. "No excuses and please no requests for extensions because I'm sure you've been given enough time to complete the project."
She continued writing topics then turned to give the confused students a suspicious smile. "And don't forget a-"
The rest of her reminder was cut of by the door busting open and attracting the attention of everyone in the room.
A male not much older than the occupants of the class, stood panting and bent over with his hands braced on his knees. Mrs. Limpet's mouth snapped shut waiting patiently for the boy to recover his breaths.
"I'm hoping you have a valid reason for coming late to first period," she pushed out through gritted teeth.
The boy seemed to have regained his breath and stood to his full height, his shoulders raised and dropped in a shrug. "Has this school always been this confusing?"
"Excuse me?"
He grinned before his jade eyes obscured by rich chestnut hair glanced at the students. "Wait, I'm in the right class aren't I?" He asked with faux concern causing the class to erupt in a round of laughter.
"Ah, never mind, this must be the right class after all. Storm. Storm Richards. Nice to meet you ma'am and thank you for having me."
If the class was laughing before, they were keeled over with laughter when he surprised the teacher by taking her hand in his then planting a kiss to it making the older teacher flush at the move.
"Okay, pick any seat of your choice."
He thanked her again before picking a chair at the back of the class and plopping himself on it.
