"What the hell are you saying?" Kayler got agitated and grabbed Gadreel by the collar.

"Please, calm down!" I intervened between the two of them. I'm tired of seeing them argue.

"Carolina..." Kayler pronounced my name. I wanted to say something, but I couldn't even utter a word.

"I... I'm not pregnant," I confessed because it's the truth. These people have been given false information. "This is all a mistake."

"It can't be," the man at the altar said. "We are certain that you're expecting a baby."

"How can you know that?" I asked them.

"Because we feel it," he looked at my belly. "There's something there."

I glanced at Kayler, who had his gaze fixed on the ground.

"They're crazy," I turned around to leave. "Carolina, wait!" I heard Gadreel's voice, but I ignored him. Maybe he just wants to help me, but not like this. I ran as far as I could, even venturing into the forest on my own. No matter how fast I ran, I didn't get tired. It's one of the advantages of being a wolf. But I stopped near some rocks and sat there.

"I can't be pregnant," I said to myself. "It's impossible."

If I were pregnant... the father would be Kayler because I haven't been with anyone else but him. I placed my hand on my stomach, contemplating... but then I removed it because I don't want a baby right now. I can't have one either. Kayler already has his daughter.

"Carolina."

I jumped in fright in the same spot and looked at the person who spoke: Kayler.

"Are you following me?"

"You have to give me an explanation," he says, standing in front of me with his arms crossed. "Is what Gadreel said true?"

"What?" I furrowed my brow. "Of course not."

He seemed relieved.

"Are you...?"

"Kayler, no, it's impossible because we were just together yesterday," I swallowed hard. "...together."

It's embarrassing to talk about these things, especially when we've been separated for years. How have we managed to survive being apart for so long?

"You need to know that human pregnancies don't work the same way as wolf pregnancies," he explains. "It just happens; the belly grows quickly, and you can give birth in less than nine months."

I got scared by what he said.

"What?" I felt a lump in my throat now.

He sat down beside me.

"It's better if we go to the doctor and find out for sure," he tried to take my hand, but I didn't let him.

"Kayler... I...," I looked at him. "...I don't want to have a child with you."

I hurt him, yes, his gaze saddened, his features dropped, and he looked at the ground. I'm an idiot for saying these things. But it's the truth; he already has a daughter, and that's enough for him. I don't want my baby to be the one who gets the least attention.

I'm an idiot!

"Kayler..."

"Fine," he stood up. "But we can't ignore the possibility that you might be, so you're coming with me, whether you like it or not." He grabbed my arm forcefully and made me walk through the forest.

"Let me go," I shook him off. "You're hurting me," I lied because I can't feel as much pain as before. "Kayler, I don't want to go to any hospital."

"But you will," he concluded. He's angry, I know. When we arrived in front of his house, he forcefully pushed me into his car, and he got into the driver's seat, starting the engine and driving at full speed on the road.

"You never cease to be a savage," I retorted.

"And you like that," he replied.

I scoffed.

"I used to."

"Even if you deny it, Carolina, you love me and can't live without me. You're hurt, I know, but that will change very soon. You'll be the one begging for my forgiveness."

I burst out laughing, finding his words hilarious. As if I would ever beg for his forgiveness.

"Laugh as much as you want, Carolina, but I'll see you at my door, begging for my forgiveness."

"You say funny things, Kayler Brown. Why would I be begging for your forgiveness?"

"When you realize that I had nothing to do with Piper."

I rolled my eyes.

"If you say so..."

When we arrived at the hospital, I reluctantly got out of the car. Kayler always grabbed my arm and hurriedly led me through the white hallways of the hospital. We reached an office where a doctor was going through some papers.

"Kayler, what a surprise to have you here," the doctor said.

"I need you to examine Carolina to determine if she's pregnant or not," he demanded.

Such manners, Kayler never changes.

Arrogant.

"Very well..." the man stood up. "...come with me, miss."

I gave Kayler a final angry look and followed the doctor. I admit I'm a little nervous about everything that's about to happen. What if I'm actually pregnant? What will I do with a child at this age? Oh my god, what have I gotten myself into? I can barely keep myself alive. I start to hyperventilate but manage to calm down.

"Please have a seat," the doctor asks me. I sit in the swivel chair as he takes out some needles and a small vial. I suppose he'll take a blood sample.

"How long will it take to get the results?" I asked, looking at the huge needle.

"About two hours," he replied with a warm smile. "It will sting a little," he said. He tied a latex glove around my arm and palpated the area to find a vein. He inserted the needle, I felt a prick... it hurt a bit. I hope he gets the blood and finishes soon. Finally, he removes the needle, takes off the glove, and puts a band-aid on.

"Alright, that's enough. You can come back at three in the afternoon for the results."

"Thank you," I replied. The doctor left the room, leaving me alone. I'm very worried now. I feel dizzy, unsure if it's because of the blood or what. I stand up, but the room starts spinning, so I hold onto the table.

"Sit down," Kayler says, arriving just in time. "I'll let you smell some alcohol." He takes a glass of alcohol and soaks a small piece of cotton with it. Kayler puts the cotton near my nose, and the smell gradually brings me back to reality.

"Thanks," I take the cotton to smell it myself. "I hate feeling like this."

"Carolina, putting aside the fact that you hate me and all that, I love you," he caresses my leg. "And if you're pregnant, you'll give me the best gift I've ever received in my life. Since I've known you, I've dreamt of having children with you. Do you remember that time at the lake, sitting on the dock, when I asked you how many children you'd like to have?" He smiled.

I smiled too because I remember it very well.

"Having a family with you is all I want in this life," he said.

For a moment, I let down my walls just this once.

"It would be nice, Kayler, but you already have a family. There's Kylie," I replied.

"I know, but that doesn't mean I can't have a family with you. I love Kylie, but you know the rest..." he murmured. "Piper doesn't take much care of her."

"Yes, I understand."

I suddenly remember that I need to get a sample from Kylie for the laboratory.

"If it's a girl, how would you like to name her?" he asked, taking me by surprise.

I think I blushed.

"I've always wanted to name her Christine, like my mom," I admitted. "And if it's a boy? I'll give you the option to choose the name."

"If it's a boy, I want him to be named Damian," he replied. "Damian Brown."
