Chapter 135

Cateline and Felix Fire

It was morning, and as in the last few days, Felix was massaging his beloved's feet. She was becoming more swollen and in pain each day.

Cristina was sitting nearby, knitting next to her mistress, always wearing a smile on her face, eager for the arrival of the little one.

"So... how's my baby today?"

Felix asked playfully, caressing Cateline's belly, who smiled foolishly.

"Hungry! More and more each day! Isn't that right, my little one?"

She said, placing her hand on her belly, alongside Felix, who kissed his beloved's hand, happy.

In recent days, Cate has been very tired and sleepy due to insomnia and back pains. The baby's kicks were becoming increasingly intense as if there was a battle happening in her womb.

"He will be a great fighter!"

Cristina commented, watching Felix caress the belly. She was already in the ninth month of pregnancy, and the baby seemed to enjoy the affection.

They chatted happily; it was almost time for breakfast, and Felix needed to attend a meeting with his father. He couldn't have breakfast with his beloved that morning.

He left, leaving Cateline alone with Cristina.

They would wait for the healers as they did every morning. As the delivery was approaching, they were giving the human more vitamins to prepare her for the day.

Cateline had a good breakfast, and after a few hours, the healers arrived. She drank her tea and got ready for the morning walk, a rule given by the healers.

She always walked with Cristina, the guard Fredy, and the healers by her side, all prepared for the long-awaited moment.

They walked through the frozen garden, and somehow, Cateline felt she had already gotten used to it all. The cold was already familiar, and there was her home. She smiled, looking around, remembering the day she arrived, tired and weak. She now ran her hand over her belly and felt how much it had grown. It didn't seem like it had been that long, but she felt that was where she belonged as if she always belonged by Felix's side in Wisdy.

After walking for a few minutes, the alert bell rang the same sound as the day of the prison invasion.

Cateline was shocked immediately and almost fell. Cristina, equally frightened, held her mistress tightly.

"Are you alright?"

The maid asked, frightened.

"Yes... I just startled at the noise..."

The human held her belly tightly; she was scared, not knowing why all the commotion.

"Let's go back... it's not safe here..."

Thedeu said, going to Cateline, holding her arm to support her. Guard Fredy remained alert, knowing it was a bad sign.

Zebeu, who didn't understand anything, stayed close to Cateline.

He knew the woman needed to stay calm, trying to keep her relaxed until they returned to the room.

"It's alright, Cate... let's go back for now..."

The old human healer spoke attentively, looking for Felix with his eyes, but all he saw were soldiers running to the entrance gate.

"Let's go!"

Fredy said seriously; he needed to get everyone out of there.

They walked back to the room, and Cateline stumbled as she walked, leaning her weight on Thedeu.

"Are you feeling okay?"

The wolf healer asked, noticing the woman's paleness.

"Yes... I just got a little dizzy... it's nothing serious."

Thedeu looked at Zebeu, and both became increasingly worried. They noticed that the woman was trying to control her nervousness, but the warning bells were growing louder.

Diego and Felix Fire, meeting room

Felix had just left his beloved's room, wearing a huge smile on his face. The wolf had never been so happy in his life.

"I see you're quite excited today..."

Diego said, smiling. It was rare to see him like this, but in recent days, everyone was surprised by the change in the Alpha.

" I could say the same... it's as if you've seen a green bird..."

Felix teased his father, and both burst into laughter. It had been years since they had gotten along so well; finally, the family was at peace and united.

They spent a few hours there; work had been productive in recent days with Felix's help. Diego saw that his son had changed, becoming more responsible and mature.

" Thank you, son..."

Diego said somewhat dryly, not looking at Felix, who was taken aback hearing such words coming from his father.

"What did you say?"

Felix questioned with a confused smile on his face. He wanted his father to repeat, but he wouldn't do it again.

" Stop fooling around! I know you heard me!"

The Alpha said sternly, already getting annoyed with his son, who chuckled.

The family moment was interrupted by a deafening noise coming from the alert bell on the castle's huge wall.

Diego remembered every detail of the last day that the bell had been rung. His nerves were on edge, and his fist clenched.

The same happened with Felix, who remembered the pain of the family and friends who had lost relatives in the battle at the prison.

They both stood up with fierce looks and left, knowing what it was about. The first thing the two wolves did was head straight to Cateline's room; they needed to place the woman in a safe location where the cursed ICES couldn't find her.

There was an almost impenetrable room that could only be opened with a pair of keys. Diego always carried them with him; he would ask Cateline to stay there until everything calmed down.

They rushed and saw the commotion in the castle; from afar, Felix saw his beloved surrounded by healers, Cristina, and the guard; she was in the garden.

The Alpha and his son ran to her, and finally, Cateline calmed down a bit upon seeing her beloved.

" Felix!? What's happening?"

Cateline asked in despair, running to her husband; they embraced tightly, feeling each other's warmth.

"I'm glad you're alright! We'll check it now... don't worry, okay?"

The wolf said, holding the woman in his arms tightly. The Alpha went to the guard and handed him the key.

Cristina and the healers remained alert to everything around.

"Take Cateline and the others to the emergency room; I'll return shortly... make sure nothing happens to her, understood?! Kill anyone who dares to approach, no matter who they are!"

The Alpha roared in anger as he spoke; he wanted to decimate the cursed ICES.

The guard firmly nodded, and Diego turned to leave. He glanced at Zebeu at the last moment and spoke before leaving.

" Take good care of my grandson!"

Unlike how he had spoken to the guard, this time, he spoke as equals. He knew Zebeu was important to Cateline, and he would do everything to protect her.

The healer nodded, as did Thedeu, who seemed to accept the order in some way. Felix bid farewell to his beloved, giving her an intense kiss. She returned it, and before he left, she caressed the man's face as a goodbye. Felix ran alongside his father. The wolf caught up with his father and, looking back one last time, said one more thing.

" Cristina! Protect my Cate!"

Cristina smiled, happy that her master found her capable, and replied.

"Sure, sir! I'll take care of her and the pups!"

She smiled. Cristina thought that more than one baby would be born, even though the healers said no.

Diego and Felix headed towards the huge gate, the bell still ringing.

They were startled by the bustling outside the castle walls.

"What's happening here?!"

The Alpha shouted upon arriving at the scene.

"Sir! Some of the men from nearby villages have arrived on horseback. They're covered in wounds, some almost dead. The last thing one of them told us was that the ICE tribe was attacking and killing everyone!"

An agitated guard explained. They were preparing to take a group of soldiers there; unfortunately, after the previous battle, they had lost many men and knew that only those wouldn't be enough.

"Damn it! Those wretches!"

Diego growled, his veins bulging with anger on his neck.

"Let's go quickly! We need to gather all those dogs and lock them back in prison!"

Felix said decisively! He felt bad for not being there the last time. The nearest village was small and not far away. They would return soon; if all that was true, the ICEs would be massacring the area.

Diego looked at his son; he wouldn't force him to go, not anymore.

"Do you agree?"

Diego waited for confirmation; Cateline would go to the emergency room and was surrounded by allies. The human was safe.

"I won't let any more of our allies die..."

Felix gave his final response; his friends were there too. Before transforming and leaving with his father, Felix asked a favor of Tomas.

"Please, keep an eye on Cateline for me..."

Tomas patted his friend on the back; he knew the Alpha's son had his responsibilities.

"Don't worry! I'll fight with death if necessary to protect her!"

Tomas said, smiling, and Felix and Diego joined the rest of the wolves, disappearing into the frozen vegetation.

The man returned inside and looked for the human. Diego had told him where she would be. Tomas hurried on, and as he advanced, he noticed something strange.
