Chapter 131

Cateline and Felix Fire

The dawn broke, and Cateline woke up refreshed. She was happy about her beloved's return. The human still felt weak and often dizzy, but she improved as she rested and took her medications correctly.

The woman rose and stretched. Her beloved wasn't there beside her in bed; she knew Felix had many things to resolve now that he had returned. The human went to the bathroom to perform her usual hygiene routine.

She tidied her hair and washed her face, changing her dress to one with a finer and cooler fabric. She didn't feel cold like in the initial days there, only at night when the sunset.

Cateline walked close to her bed, feeling more awake, and noticed some papers on the desk next to her bed, along with a small jar of preserved fruits. They were the letters and sweets her mother and sister had sent.

Cateline joyfully walked to retrieve her gifts and brought them to the bed; she knew Felix had left them there for her.

"Thank you, dear."

She whispered, speaking to herself, thinking of her beloved.

Cateline opened one of the letters; they were numbered to be read in order. As she looked at the jar of preserved fruits, her mouth watered instantly. It had been so long since she had eaten.

There were peaches and guavas in a delicious sugary syrup, simply delightful. Upon opening the jar, the sweet scent filled the room—a pleasant smell that made the human's stomach rumble with the desire to eat fruits. She put one of the fruits in her mouth and moaned, feeling its sweet taste. Her smile was wide. After eating a few, she closed the jar; she would save them for later.

She gently stroked her belly and spoke to her baby

"Did you like it? Grandma and Auntie made these. Soon, you'll meet them."

Cate smiled happily; she would see her family soon.

The woman took the letters and began to read while opening the jar once again. She didn't even realize she was eating the sweets again; the smile on her face never faded. If left to herself, she would eat everything.

"Dear sister, it's been a while since we last spoke. So many things have happened; I don't even know where to start.

Zebeu confirmed my pregnancy, as did some royal doctors. You're going to be an aunt, c an you believe it?

Our mother is ecstatic, as is Joaquim. He can't stop talking about our little prince;d he swears it'll be a boy, but I think not. I feel it will be a princess. Whenever I place my hand on my belly, I see a girl. Crazy, isn't it?

We also have news. A stranger from afar came claiming to be our relative, and apparently, it's true. You'll meet her soon; she's an interesting and very friendly woman. And she's pregnant, sister, just like us. That's what shocked me the most... you need to meet her soon.

Now that we can exchange letters normally again, I'll give you all the details of the last few months; we miss you.

Even Martin asked to write for him; he was fascinated by Felix and his friends, now he only talks about wanting to come live with you. Our little brother has grown, sister, he doesn't seem like the same person as before. I'm afraid our babies will grow as fast as Martin. Now I understand our mother; she always sees us as babies. Let's act like her with our own, Cate... I'm so happy, sister, we're going to be mothers..."

Cateline read the joyful letter, her heart tightening with every word she read. She imagined her sister there beside her, hearing their mother's voice, Martin being scolded and running around the house.

She longed to hear their voices and ease her longing, to give them all a tight hug. Looking at the jar, Cate realized she had almost finished all the candy. It had been a long time since she had felt so good. She smiled at the almost-empty sweets and closed the jar, saving some for Cristina and Felix. She knew they would appreciate it. She read a few more letters from her mother, inquiring about her well-being and sharing many updates with her daughter. Everything at Lucinda Brown's castle was perfectly amazing.

She had never imagined herself living in a castle. Her mother told her that now Lucinda and Joaquim wouldn't inherit just one castle but three, and she was very happy for her daughter for being so strong in witnessing the war that occurred. Her mother didn’t delve into many details about the war, but Cate already had an idea of how it might have happened, having witnessed something similar in the Fire tribe. She couldn't remember everything due to fainting, but she was sure her sister had been as strong as she was.

Lucinda was very strong when it came to family matters; the two sisters would do anything for each other, and fight until the end.

Cate was standing alongside Felix, enduring everything. She had suffered a lot to be with Felix, and Lucinda had also been very strong, staying by her husband's side and protecting him until the end. The Forth family always had a very strong bond regarding love and family. They would do anything to take care of each other. Cate, Lucinda, Milena, and Martin were proud to have each other. They would stay united until the end, even though they were far away from each other, living in different kingdoms.

They would always find a way to reunite, to be a family again. Cate was moved by everything her mother said and began to cry silently. After a few minutes, someone knocked on the door. Cateline wiped away her tears.

"Mistress?"

It was Cristina.

"Come in!"

Cateline stood up cheerfully. She had cried tears of joy.

The human walked to the door to greet her friend; she wanted to offer her some of the candy to taste.
