Chapter 83 CHAPTER EIGHTY THREE

Chapter 83 CHAPTER EIGHTY THREE
ROMAN’S POV

I slammed my locker shut, raising my eyebrows at the sight of Clara, leaning on the locker close to mine.

“You come back to this pack, and I am the last to know about it,” she says playfully.

“Hey, Clara.” I mumbled out, gasping in surprise as she flung herself into my hands.

“Oh I missed you so much,” she whispered out, her voice a bit muffled.

I grimaced, gently removing her from my body.

“How are you?” she asked me, her eyes roaming over my face.

“I am fine, and you?” I asked back out of courtesy.

She takes my hands in hers, smiling brightly at me. “Well…, I was extremely sad when you just disappeared like that, but now, not anymore.”

I almost jerked my hands from her own as Emily passed by, her scent lingering behind. She shared a quick glance with me, her eyes briefly glancing down at my hands and Clara’s own intertwined together.

I gritted my teeth, forcing my hands to remain where it was, but my eyes couldn’t control themselves as they followed her movements, watching as she walked away from me.

“What class do you have now?” Clara asked, distracting me from my blatant ogling.

“Umm..,” I cleared my throat, “Maths I think.”

“Wow, me too.” she exclaims excitedly. “This must be fate,” she mumbles out, blushing slightly.

I stared at her for some time, making her squirm. This was good, if I could focus all my attention on Clara here, then I could convince myself and everyone that I was over Emily.

I smiled at her, making her frown. I laughed out at her expression, holding her hands as we walked all the way to class.

The class was already filled up, Stefan and Owen with some of their friends, discussing something as they laughed to themselves.

I could have been there, sitting right where Owen who had already taken my position was. Laughing at whatever it was they were talking about.

But I guess things changed, and I might sit with them at the cafeteria, but it’s never going to be the same.

Stefan glanced up, his eyes meeting mine and Clara, before his eyes moved down, sparkling at the sight of our joined hands.

I walked forward, releasing Clara’s hands so she could sit with her friends already giggling as girls do, while I walked all the way to the back, my new seat.

Good, I thought, I could see how excited Stefan was at the prospect of me getting with Clara. Now, he could get off my back.

Occasionally I would catch their gaze, frowning a bit, before looking away.

It was not even like I was trying to start beef, or anything of that sort, but like Owen said, things have changed, and I can't just go over to where they were, asking Owen to shift so I could take my rightful position.

Our next class though, I wasn’t so lucky. The only available seat was close to Stefan and Owen, and I had no choice but to sit my ass down.

Believe me, I had half a mind to switch my seat with Jameson, a quiet guy like me. But I raised my chin up, walking forward before sitting down.

“Hey, what’s good?” I greeted them, nodding my head at them.

“So you finally decided to sit with us,” Owen gritted out, ignoring my greetings.

I pinched the bridge of my nose, leaning comfortably against my seat.

“Yeah man.., what the hell was that?” Stefan asked too, the both of them staring pointedly at me.

“There was no seat, or would you have liked it if I asked you to move, so I can sit?” I asked back, glaring at Owen.

What exactly was his problem with me?

Owen glanced away, while Stefan sighed out loudly.

“You and Clara hooking up?” he asked, straightforward as usual.

“We might,” I say, planting the image on their minds.

“You know she really likes you right?” Stefan mutters out. “I just hope you are not trying to play with her.”

I almost laughed out loud, might I add, instead I settled for a loud scoff, staring at Stefan pointedly, my disbelief very clear.

“Are you joking with me right now?” I grumbled out, biting the inside of my cheeks.

“No I am not.” Stefan says in a chilling tone. “I want you to move on really, but don’t drag anyone else into your mess.”

Ok, what was his problem? More than anyone, I thought he would be happy to see me moving on, rather than pinning over his mate.

But no…, good boy Stefan has come out to lecture me.

“Well I am serious with her,” I lied, ignoring Owen’s loud mocking scoff.

Nobody said anything after that, but the air was tense.

I found myself constantly tapping my foot, a nervous habit of mine.

Damn.., I would give anything to not be here, especially as Owen would occasionally whisper something to Stefan, making the both of them laugh out loud.

Our teacher, ignored as usual, maybe a small warning here and there, but nothing serious.

Next was training, which went pretty well. I wasn’t paired up with Stefan, instead I was paired with Jameson.

For a quiet boy, he held his own during a fight. And his soft smile reminded me of Richie.

It was funny, but now, standing with Jameson in our locker room as we changed up, discussing lightly about strategies and stuff about our fighting style, I wondered why I had never spoken to the boy before.

He had a goofy sense to him, and honestly a breath of fresh air, though I saw the way Stefan glared at the both of us occasionally.

“Hey, let’s go.” Stefan called out to me, folding his hands across his chest.

I nodded my head, saying a quick goodbye to Jameson, before following Stefan outside.

“I am sorry,” Stefan let out, running his hands through his hair. “If you want to move on with Clara, then do that. I had no right to attack you like that.”

“Yea umm.., I am sorry too.” Owen grumbled out beside Stefan, looking everywhere but at me. “I understand a bit of why you left now, and I know I have been a bit mean and cold towards you, I can understand why you don’t feel welcomed or comfortable sitting with us.”

I gritted my teeth, trying my best not to snap out at Stefan. What rights did he have, telling Owen.

Now it’s Owen, who knows, tomorrow it might be the whole pack.

And why i didn’t give a fuck if everyone knew I believe Emily to be my mate, i didn’t want Emily in any awkward situation.

“It’s cool,” I say, smiling to show that everything was ok.

Stefan patted my back, before circling his strong hands over my shoulders.

I let him, almost nostalgic about how everything used to be.

Why, why couldn’t it have been anyone, why Stefan?

My loss wasn't just about Emily, it was also about Stefan too. My bestfriend, my brother.

We had plans of ruling this pack with our respective mate, making the Crescent Moon pack one of the strongest.

But now, the only future I saw was me leaving this pack, so everyone could be happy.
