Chapter 8 CHAPTER EIGHT
ROWAN’S POV
I tossed around on my bed, replaying everything that had happened. Emily had somehow traced my scent to where I lived. I had hidden her in my room, my wolf very satisfied with her scent, merging with mine. She didn’t know where she came from, her only memory was of waking up in the pack’s infirmary.
Quickly, I had covered her up, before letting her into my room. I made sure to lock my door, as my sister had the habit of bashing in unannounced. I directed her to the bathroom, leaving some of my clothes for her. I showed her what to do, before giving her some privacy.
I paced back and forth, wondering whose blood she had been covered with. She came out of the bathroom, my clothes covering every inch of her body.
I laughed at how cute she looked, her brown eyes wide as she took me in, shyly wringing her hands together. I stopped laughing at how uncomfortable she looked, clearing my throat as I awkwardly sat on my reading chair, gesturing for her to sit on the bed.
She walked towards my bed, lying down, before curling her body. Her hands, covering some of her face as she stared at me.
“Emily I whispered, why were you covered in blood?
“I don’t know," she said, "I woke up in the woods not too far from here. I recognized your scent, and I just followed it.
I nodded my head, my fingers drumming lightly on my desk table.
““Am I in trouble?”” she asked, sniffing slightly.
“No!! No, I just wanted to make sure you were not hurt.” Get some rest ok, tomorrow I will find out what happened.
She nodded her head, before closing her eyes.
I watched her, as her breath evened out. She must have been very tired, to sleep off that quickly. I sneaked out of my room, going to our store room to grab extra blankets, before sneaking back in, making sure the door was properly locked.
I arranged the blanket on the floor, laying down as I thought of the trouble I would be in if my father finds her in my room. For someone that followed the rules and always seeked my father’s approval, I was sure doing a lot that he would disapprove of. I smiled as I turned my face so I was looking at Emily, before dozing off.
Sunlight streamed from the open window, piercing my eyes as I groaned, using the blanket to cover my head. I refused to open my eyes, it was just too early.
Roman!!!!! Wake your ass up Bella shouted, pounding on my door. I grind my teeth in irritation, hugging the blankets closer to me.
Bella banged on the door again, turning the knob.
““Why is your room locked? She shouted. Dad wanted me to remind you of your training with the pack warriors she said, before marching off.
I sighed, removing the blanket from my face, before grudging standing up. Emily was still sleeping peacefully, wow!!!! So all that shouting, and banging from Bella didn’t wake her up I thought, smiling.
I folded up the blanket I used last night, grabbing a change of clothes before entering the bathroom. After taking my bath and brushing my teeth, I came out of the bathroom, startled to see Emily by my window.
“Hey!! hey!! What are you doing?”” I asked, as I marched towards her, pulling her back from the window.
“Nothing, " she said, "I just wanted to look outside.”
I locked my window, before pulling down the blinds.
You can’t let anyone see you, I told her, guarding her back to the bed.
Look, I said, crouching down so I was on equal eye level with her. I have to go to school, and then training. I can't miss them, can you wait here for me till I come back? I asked her, watching in amusement as she kept avoiding eye contact.
Ok, she said meekly, before looking at me.
I nodded my head satisfied, before standing up. I instructed her on everything she could do, and not do. Before going downstairs, to gather whatever food or junks I could find.
The house was empty already, Bella probably in school, or scavenging with her friends like she secretly did. My father, the Beta of the pack, is already with the Alpha, dealing with pack duties. While my mom was already at the school, where she teaches. I checked the time, exclaiming in shock at how late I was.
Shit!! I was late. I hurriedly gathered everything I wanted, taking an apple, for myself before going back to the room.
Emily was already reading the book I had pointed out to her. I dropped everything I brought for her, before picking up my school bag, ensuring her that I would be back soon.
At school, I was restless. My mind, constantly thinking about Emily, wondering how she was faring.
“Hey, have you heard?”” Stefan whispered to me.
I turned to him. ““Heard what?”” I asked him, whispering back so the teacher doesn’t hear us.
“Emily,” he said. I overheard my father, and Miss Falcon talking. She said Emily had escaped, they traced her scent to a dead cow. But surprisingly, it ended there, with no more trace like she just disappeared.
My heart skipped a bit, before settling. Oh, so the blood had been the cow she killed huh!! I chuckled, before clearing my throat.
Really? I asked, acting surprised with the news. So what are they going to do?
Stefan shrugged his shoulders. I don’t know, he said. My father thinks she is still within the pack, and wants to organize a search party for her.
Oh!!! I said dumbly, my mind, thinking of my next action.
““You know what Stefan said, bouncing on his seat with a huge smile.””
I grimaced, already knowing he was going to suggest something silly.
““What is it?”” I asked, sighing as I bit the pen in my hands.
“Let’s go look for her.”” Our father’s, would be so proud of us.
I rolled my eyes, before turning to face him. Have you forgotten we have a special training class today with the pack’s warriors. I said to him, trying to shift his focus.
But!!!he said, already protesting. I shut him down immediately, my heart beating wide. I knew Stefan, and how stubborn he could get. So, I needed to direct his attention to something else.
Look, I told him, your father would be more proud if we attended our training. We can’t keep the pack warriors waiting I said, that’s not very responsible.
He sighed, before nodding. I guess you are right, but if we finish on time, we could still go look for her.
I nodded my head, agreeing with him so I don’t look suspicious.
After our training with the pack warriors, I hurried home, beaten up and tired. I was not at my best today as my mind had been preoccupied with the thought of Emily, making me an easy target.
I was sure to feel the soreness tomorrow. But right now, I only had Emily to think of.
I rushed inside, ignoring my mother’s call as I ran to my room. I opened the door, an apology for being late already on my lips.
I paused, at how silent my room was. The first thing I noticed was the cold air in the room, the second was the open window.
I rushed to the window, my heart beating fast against my chest.
Shit!!!!! Emily was gone.
